  1. Its been a while so I forgot Jomtiem requires the passport be picked up the following day. Our local outlet provides that we walk out the door with processed passport in hand.
  2. I wouldn't mind something like this although it's far from my price point.
  3. That got a genuine chuckle from me keyman as well as bringing you back to neutral status on the thread. +1
  4. "Another thing which amazes me? Ambulances with sirens/lights on? They get NO help whatsoever by motorists, "letting them pass" etc etc." I agree with you marleyboy but if I remember correctly that's actually what the driver preparation book instructs for the license test.
  5. Looks to me like this unfortunate fellow has a lot more serious problems than just his intoxicated condition..
  6. Amazon claims to have well over 1,000,000 books available for a kindle download for free. And those books transfer with ease to a smartphone or tablet.
  7. What happened to that "caps" rule? 555
  8. Right on nus01. Same as with a person is most likely to have an automobile accident within a short distance of where he or she lives.
  9. "Good personal friend and not a bad bloke, but with breath bad enough to knock a buzzard off a shitpile :)" And if he didn't know before, he can't deny it now. 555
  10. In addressing your argument, idefix, I'd say I don't like it in the USA either. So that's a moot point to me. The USA is the great gatherer of all and everything possible to know about any breathing soul. I don't like that any more than I like the idea of Thailand following in lockstep. I've passively tried my best for over 40 years to limit what governments know about me. I did so within the limits of the law. e.g. No, I won't give my fingerprint for my driver license because it is not a requirement. To a bank, I would not give my social security number because at the
  11. I was really actually venting about what I see as governmental intrusion. The government can triangulate and find any phone it wants, but now it wants a name and ID # associated with a phone at all times. I just don't follow along with the adage that if I have nothing to hide just make my life an open book for a government. (as if it isn't already) Nothing to see here, just keep moving... I have a VPN but why wouldn't I be surprised to find one day the government has filtered them as well?
  12. Greg, Are you including the tamper proof pourers such as the ones that come on a BenMoore Bottle? Seemed pretty "tamper proof" to me.
  13. I realize I have to go along with the program as long as I'm living in Thailand, but I don't feel thrilled at the idea. The direction things are headed for everyone here is to a more and more restrictive level. I was already disappointed to find out about the internet thing but when I learned today about registering sim cards with a passport, I'd say that is taking away what many like to call a non nanny state condition. Seems to be getting to the point where it's a really in your face kind of thing. ? ? ?
  14. . Can it ever reach the point where the meal is too cheap?
  15. . Comes down to a mere matter of timing now, doesn't it friend?
  16. . Gosh wac, you sound like an echo from the yahoo finance boards. I'd almost guess you're a frustrated "shortie". I have a friend who has predicted the imminent demise of the greenback since early 1980. He managed to lose 30% in the gold market last year.
  17. But I'd certainly not have an issue with 1500 THB. http://www.refinedguy.com/2013/11/20/catarina-migliorini-auctioning-off-virginity-pictures/
  18. . When you're not living in your condo, Gary, don'y you still have basic utility costs as well as the maintenance costs paid to the association? And what about internet? Don't you have a 12 month contract on that as I found I needed to have. Nice to have a place to get away to I think but it seems it'd have some expenses attached to it as well. Yeah, I didn't think too much of the double electricity rate in a rented condo.
  19. . We were told there'd be a one or two hundred baht charge for a print out of interest payments from the bank for 2013. They can go back but I'm not sure about past a year.
  20. Thanks for another of your typically excellent posts Evil. I'm in agreement with what you've said about Sizzler. The wife and I go to the local one here in Issan about every three weeks and are always satisfied. My personal choice is: Along with the salad bar. Certainly works for me.
  21. . Time constraints are a drag. I found Corridor Island to be one of the best experiences I had (outside of the ladies, naturally) in the PI during my time there.
  22. I get the impression there's no glass in the kitchen window. Is that true? In fact it looks overall like it's pretty open with the balustrades below the window opening. I must be missing something. NO matter what, the price sounds competitive. edit: I didn't read that it sold but proof that when something's priced right, it moves.
  23. . Whenever possible, I use The Ayuddhya ATM's although I haven't an account with them. All of them, wherever I've used one, gives the 30K amt. per transaction
