  1. This became my destination dinner after Coins proved little more than a pavement with tables. Unfortunately it doesn't open till 3pm..
  2. I went there today....4 x two seater tables outside by the motorcys I wouldn't eat nor drink there disregarding what meal or what time of year it was...
  3. The figures I quote are accurate.. a bloke down the pub told me so.....
  4. The cost of which is between 11,000 and 13,000 depending on which agency and how far up the management structure Santa's little helper is.. Interestingly the cost hasn't risen much in 10 years because 10 yeas ago it cost 10,000 with an agency recommended by Whitespider in a thread on here ....
  5. You were lucky! In Nackon Sawan they insisted that it had to come from your own branch.......A 3 hour round trip when I lived oooop North...
  6. This might be an option for Xmas Day so I shall check it out too. EP....Do you have any suggestions for Xmas Dinner....???? Bite Me is definately one option...The girls are sort of "family" to me in there too.... Jolly's is doing a buffet for 599 Baht by the way... Casa Pascal is 1,395 for early sitting and 1,695 for late sitting (both prices are from memory and are ball park figures)
  7. Aha !! Found it!!! Thanks very big!!
  8. Thanks for the kick up the arse with the savings account...It is something I haven't looked into since moving down from ooop north....(where they were obviously more strict) I'll be getting a lump sum portion of my Army pension in 3 weeks so it'll all fit together nicely...
  9. I maxed mine out when the limit was increased and have been getting 50 to 100 a month since...never less......and of course have instant access.. For sure banking conditions for a visa have changed over the years, but which Thai Bank account fits the bill for the current "instant access" requirements.??...I have been banking with Thai Farmers/Kasikorn for 20 years but each time I tried a "savings" account I was told by different immigration that it didn't comply with their rules... Either way 3 million that you can't touch until you die is dead money.....
  10. Oven? The one in Rosie O'Gradys saw nothing but an unheated deep fat fryer.....
  11. If you are British put 3 million baht (GBP equivalant) in Premium Bonds and use the premiums to pay for annual visas.......
  12. Well that just about sums it up "Boss not care"... The Yorkshire pud in PBG is just about perfect each and every time I have ordered it because the Boss and all the staff do care May I just say (just as you said about an English Thanksgiving Dinner) that Yorkshire pud is a starter not a side dish. But I bet my original '70s Leeds scarf that Retox and other Yorkshire bar owners won't offer it as a starter......
  13. I was out and about yesterday on my annual investigation for possibilities for a group of friends to spend Xmas Dinner together. I hadn't been in Rosie O'grady's in years so thought I'd pop in and order a lamb dinner. Lamb was good, spuds were good, veggies were soggy and wet, but the yorkshire pudding.....OMG ... the yorkshire pudding. I could see that it had been cooked in oil so I just touched the top of it and oil oozed out the top. I picked it up and removed it from my plate and just by picking it up my fingers became greasy and the oil dripped a path across my plate....I can only assume that it was deep fried but had been put in the oil too soon before the oil had reached cooking temperature so it acted like a sponge...Aweful at any price..
  14. Yes..same here...its just that your search covered 4 london based flights and the dates were spread over several months.....None of which I was able to replicate...
  15. This is very true...On here I have mentioned Wyndham/JC/Taylors ..I guess the only other international brand would be Penfolds or is there some I am missing?? I would be happy to check them out too.. My point was the wines being cheap and on offer.....The best wine I have ever tasted in my 20 years in Thailand was a Borolo Reserve in Bite Me....but everything comes at a price..
  16. I was around town today and saw no evidence of any outward celebration of Thanksgiving. I have many fond memories of Doug and Yim's restaurent on Soi Rangnam in BKK celebrating Thanksgiving. If only Doug could see the little girl he bounced in his arms today...she is a big 15 year old monster!! Last I heard from Yim was that he was sick and had to return to California that was about 8 years ago in Zeer... Anyways....fond memories......I hope you are all enjoying your day!!!
  17. Yes that was obvious ....but what search criteria did you use on ebookers...???
  18. After a trip to Friendship today they have dropped the price to 575 baht...
  19. Brilliant....
  20. I have thought about this a few times.......not many but a few......wouldn't you have to buy the stuff at the airport or can you take it past the security screening OK..?? My sons in the past have taken McDonalds onto a flight...
  21. This is excellent!! What search criteria did you use for such a wide choice of dates and departure locations..?? Thanks
  22. I have health insurance and am 60. This covers me until I die and have pre existing Weight and Blood Pressure problems and the policy definately meets the proposed limit above. now 40,000 a year but will go up in 5 year stages. The alternative is paying cash in local hospitals....and I have been into some really, really nasty crowded local hospitals here...(Here meaning Thailand not Pattaya) But my route to this particular policy wasn't a standard one.. 1. I started with BUPA around 20 years ago here but they refused to pay for a minor operation around '97ish in Bumrungrad so I quit the policy. 2. Sometime (maybe years) later I took the Thai Visa option but then I started to look further into the future beyond 55 and didn't like what I saw ..... 3. Whilst living ooop North I took out a Thai style Insurance to replace Thai Visa but it was more about Death Benefit than Health Insurance. 4. When I was 55 I looked at what else was available and was quite surprised to see that the availability of insurances had improved but I chose to change my existing Thai policy into a decent Health Insurance (because they couldn't refuse!!) that will see me through til death...
  23. Imagine if there were more roundabouts in Pattaya than just Dolphin roundabout .....(with our without bits being blocked off...)
  24. It's always difficult to say what is cheap and what is not cheap because that is personal perception but in this case perhaps it would have been clearer if I had said wine made with grapes rather than "wine" made with fruit juice...
  25. 1. You still have to check in every 90 days? 2. Quite honestly, everybody should have some sort of Health Insurance here anyway. 3. What about multiple / single entry visas...can you get 2 x 5 year multiple entry visas..?? 4. Having hoofed my way down to Nackon Sawan many many times I see it as more of an aid to cut queus rather than to aid the farang..... 5. Before Kap Choeng(Surin) had an international border then yep it would have been useful.....
