  1. Ok it aint the ritz but i find "travellers inn" on the Loi kroh rd a cheap and cheerful joint. Air room with TV comes in at 500baht and its seconds away from the action. Note; When you check in, say you used to have a discount card but cant find it and they will give the discount anyway (if you smile)
  2. To be more specific.....he will do. So all you mongers out and about on Thursday, see if you can spot him or grab a photo. His actual itinery will be: 17.00 Flannigans 18.30 Shenanigans 20.00 Butchers arms and finally 21.30 Queen victoria soi 6 He is being sponsored by John Smith and Strongbow
  3. Ruen thai restaurant 2nd rd across from royal garden. Depends what your trying to achieve...if its a view you want then Pete's Pattaya beer garden is the best. If its taste regardless of location then its a small outside joint on the naklua rd directly across from a pink vet sign. If its price then The Boat restaurant takes some beating (2nd rd across from boyz town)
  4. The point about the water is that assuming Pete is gearing the Thai food price to compare to other Thai food restuarants. i.e. kiss food, (approx 80 -110 baht per dish) which is spot on (if you look at his thai menu). Then assuming this price comparison, the bottled water should be no more than 20baht. This is obviously assuming that we are in "restaurant" mode and not "bar" mode. I accept that 20baht water for a "bar" is cheap. This is why Pete has a problem defining what "the pattaya beer garden" is?? Its not all bad news tho as i stated before , a can of coke 30baht is a bargain in a bar. (usually minimum 55baht in a shitty bar joint)......so basically your water's over-priced and your coke is under-priced. re menu: Is 1 menu containing everything really too difficult pete? Lets say i go in just for a drink...maybe..just maybe i will look at the menu and spot something interesting OR good value. Maybe i will come back another time etc etc. When i was in it seemed like 70percent eating 30percent at bar drinking. re lights: they weren't too bright , they were in the way. it's a tricky scenario as you do need light at the tables. I appreciate that. Sit yourself down Pete, as if you were a customer.....now face your dining companion and see if you get any view.......go....actually do it. The light steals the whole panoramic view! Its a moot point , i know, but i assume your trying to make this place the best it can be! Also i assume you aint asked your waiter for a mocha....he doesnt have a clue. (this was asked in thai by my GF so no language problems)..he simply didnt know what it was. (and a normal black coffee duly arrived)...with mocha on the bin!!!!!! For all the flamers , can i just state that i WANT to like this bar.....It does have easily the best locale in Pattaya. My points may seem like bitching, but look at the success/failure ratio in this town for businesses ! The last thing Pete would want is for any small points to go unsaid. I have been here a good few years now and must have dined in every soi in town, so i know when "things" seem a little odd. Good luck again Pete.
  5. Thanks lostinamsterdam, it was indeed EMS that i was talking about. Emil stated that they were small items so logic would say EMS is what he needs. Why have them stuck at sea for 3months (unless its small items x 1000). Maybe he's trying the old "5000 pairs of sunglasses back to sell at the market" routine! vid
  6. After she finishes she pulls an instant camera from an unknown spot and takes your photo!!! Seriously this is one of the top photo hawkers on walking st and should be strung up for annoyance!
  7. What and how do you get the VIP card?? What exactly does it entitle the holder to?
  8. Fedex or DHL etc have offices just beside mike shopping mall (although these can be expensive). They dont have flights going out everyday as you'd expect tho. The price starts reasonable for paper items but anything other than that is stupid money. A cheaper alternative would be the Thai post office's own "DHL" service. Cant remember the exact name but it is alot cheaper and does 7day air delivery to uk. Either go straight into the post office (soi post office) or if you cant be arsed waiting in line for ages then across the road there is a shop (looks like a travel agents with safety boxes in the rear)..they will do all the shit for you instantly for a few baht extra! vid
  9. About 1 year ago there was an article in the newspapers saying that Pattaya was too stop issueing new licences for motorcycle side cars. i.e no new ones were to be produced as they clog the traffic and are slow/dangerous etc. Obvioulsy TIT and i dont know if this fell into a hole and forgotten about....but it may be a reason you're having trouble tracking 1 down....maybe go second-hand???? vid
  10. Hi Pete, glad your so optimistic! As i stated before this is a great location......for a restaurant!.... and as a restaurant you will do very well! I tried the thai food a few days ago and it was of reasonable quality. Try something for me pete.....you have 1 oldish bloke waiting the tables (was about 6pm )...ask him for a mocha (as per menu).....see what you get! also Had a small bottle of water with my food......... 30baht (you're having a laugh eh).....although a much more expensive can of coke was same price 30baht ?????? "do you want drink menu or food menu???????".....what a silly idea having 2 menus. Maybe the customer will change his mind . Get 1 menu for everything then its up to me and less confusing for the staff and may generate more sales. Whilst i agree that the tables need illuminated at night, those silly wall lamps only BLOCK your view. Either replace with table light/candle etc or move the tables offset against the wall lamps. The view would have been stunning if they hadn't been there. The staff also have the "hovering" syndrome. Whilst i like good service, i dislike the over-attentive waiting staff that make you feel rushed as they whip away a glass or plate the millisecond it becomes empty. I thought this place was a place to linger and relax....i just felt watched over and rushed. Why not put the hoverers out of sight and place some small service bells on the tables. btw at 6pm there wasnt a sniff of freelancers????? but it was a good view (when i dodged the light) vid
  11. A guy is walking along the strip in Walking st and a knockout looking hooker catches his eye. He strikes up a conversation and eventually asks the hooker, 'How much do you charge?' Hooker replies, 'It starts at 5000 baht for a hand-job.' Guy says, '5000 baht?! For a hand-job! No hand-job is worth that kind of money!' The hooker says, 'Do you see that 7/11 on the corner?' 'Yes.' 'Do you see the 7/11 about a block further down?' 'Yes.' 'And beyond that, do you see that third 7/11 ?' 'Yes.' 'Well,' says the hooker, smiling invitingly, 'I own those. And, I own them because I give a hand-job that's worth 5000 baht.' Guy says, 'What the hell? You only live once. I'll give it a try.' They retire to a nearby hotel. A short time later, the guy is sitting on the bed realizing that he just experienced the hand-job of a lifetime, worth every bit of 5000 baht. He is so amazed, he says, 'I suppose a blow-job is 10,000 baht?' The hooker replies, '15 000 baht.' 'I wouldn't pay that for a blow-job!' The hooker replies, 'Step over here to the window, big boy. Do you see that nightclub just across the street? I own that nightclub outright. And I own it because I give a blow-job that's worth every satang of 15,000 baht.' The guy, basking in the afterglow of that terrific hand-job, decides to put off the new car for another year or so, and says, 'Sign me up.' Ten minutes later, he is sitting on the bed more amazed than before. He can scarcely believe it but he feels he truly got his money's worth. He decides to dip into the retirement savings for one glorious and unforgettable experience. He asks the hooker,'How much for some pussy?' The hooker says, 'Come over here to the window, I want to show you something. Do you see how the whole of Walking St is laid out before us, all those beautiful lights, bars, and gogos ?' 'Damn!' the guy says, in awe, 'You own the whole of Walking St?' 'No,' the hooker replies, 'but I would if I had a pussy.'
  12. Popped into Club Mistys tonight and was pleasantly surprised! There has been absolutely no corners cut on the decor of this joint....its simply gorgeous. Very nice Paul! The music was loud enough without being over-bearing and it was popular and up-to-date too. (no car siren here). The place is bursting at the seams with women and whilst they may not be in the "stunner" category, they are still worthy of a look. Personally i like a bit of variety in the women as the bog standard plastic beauty queens can be stand-offish sometimes! I should also mention that the Draft beer was 65baht and the air-conditioning was freezing (the way i like it). 1 point Paul...i counted around 30 odd women in there.....and only 1 toilet....for everyone (man and lady)....whats going on?????? A lot of guys also bring their lady into your joint (me included)...the Gf was definetely not a happy bunny!!! All we need now is some shows and we have a top class entertainment place to rival all the over-priced rip-off gogos ! WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED! vid
  13. Hi pete, checked out your party last night and was confused a little as to what market your trying to corner! is it a restuarant? is it a lady bar? is it a music/video bar? could be a boxing ring? 1st i should state the obvious:....This bar is HUGE......i mean bloody huge. To fill this to anywhere near busy looking is gonna be a mammoth task in itself. I can see the wooden benches getting full of diners etc but the actual bar area will always look empty. Call me old-fashioned but i like some type of entertainment when i go out. Unfortunately Pattaya beer garden had nothing to offer last night. The music was turned down so low that i couldnt actually tell what song was on! The ceiling fans ill-fitted and wobbled with a dangerous vibration that threatened to drop them down all-together! (maybe a future de-capitation???) Oh and any one remotely try to save the world's rainforest should not look at the size of the paper of their bill. On a plus point.....the view was superb and the beer cheap. (however the view wore off in about 20seconds and cheap beer could be had at 7/11). I can see this working as a restuarant ( and at 30baht beer a daytime hang-out for alcoholics)....but nothing else. Sorry Pete but if this joint works it will be a stroke of genius and i wish you all the luck in the world (and maybe if the place defines itself somewhat then this might be the case). This post is aimed at remedy-ing some of the points made and to hopefully help you move forward. 1 last point my GF made was if your trying to bring in the freelancer team hen you need more mirrors as they love to sit and look at themselves!!! vid
  14. Looking really good now! I hope you follow in baby doll's footsteps with reasonable priced draft beer etc. This soi is becoming the "new" soi diamond and may well be pedestrianised in the near future. count me in on your opening night (whenever that may be) vid
  15. Elephant bar...soi asia beach hotel (beside condom and cabbage resort). UK owner and cook Actually states on the menu..."expect at least 30minutes wait for these dishes" come hungry as the portions are HUGE! (also beegees tribute band play every thursday night)
  16. On Emirates biz class they give you noise-reduction headphones....actually a bit spooky being so quiet tho!
  17. In some bars they are selling WKD vodka....with irn bru mixed in it! Its about 130baht a go! enjoy
  18. Paul why did you not negotiate a take-over of the defunct "venus" bar next door? It would have pretty much been ready to rock n roll immediately!
  19. Just a note to let all on the forum know that Paul (of Taffy's bar) is having a birthday party tonight 2nd febuary and everyone is welcome along. The standard roasted pig will be in attendance as well as normal Farang grub! The band is booked and should start around 8pm (mixture of farang music and some thai thrown in). For those that dont know the location, its situated just off walking st at soi 14/15 (just down from secrets or whats up a gogo depending what soi you take). Enjoy. vid
  20. My tot is normally great although for the last 2 evenings the speed has been noticibly down. Although i wouldnt slag off tot as much as some say! The whole thing is a lottery depending on location and number of users/time of day.
  21. Although the ruskies are out numbering the germans these days. Certain parts of the beach can be a bit rocky so keep those sandals on when swimming.
  22. The rooms over-looking the swimming pool will cost you more. Also NEVER take the room above the restuarant area as they will wake you at 8am every morning with the bang-bang-bang of making som tam........i'm being serious
  23. Your 5 gallon plastic bottle should only be costing you 15baht! AND go to the mini style cash and carry (youll know them by beer crates stacked high). You will get 12 bottles of Namthip water for 55baht. Nothing to do with water filtration but an alternative til you get setup
  24. Try somewhere like dream hotel or beverly etc.
  25. I think you have to say the post topic with a captain birdseye "pieces of eight" style voice. ...oooo arrrr just landed I blighty. p.s if youve not got any booze they will let you away with some extra fags ( i know i was that soldier)
