flipper lodge is much better than flipper house. dont get them confused. eastiny is supposed to be nice. i am staying at flip lodge again. friendly, great security but only have secure boxes at reception. love that area..

has anyone used air asia? i noticed on their site they only have a 15 kg baggage limit! (love to see americans get under that!) so, how strict are they on that and do they charge like wounded bulls above 15kg? i am flying from phuket to bangkok in early april.

well i'd love to do the croc option but there is a problem. saltwater crocs live in tropical tidal areas. areas that are tidal dont have surf. ergo, no surfing to phuket.... bummer

i will be going to phuket on 28th march for about 4 days before flying to BKK the Pats. previously visited pkt last september. yes it is more expensive than pattaya but has a different vibe. still plenty of BG's and FL's to keep you happy. great hotel is the orchid residence. TG friendly and 100m from the bars. strongly recommended!

there is NO way to please every patron in a venue. what one guy loves may seriously chase out 15 others. if everyone gets to hear a few songs they like, then they are usually happy to hang around and will be grateful that you listened to their requests. the last thing you need is a loudmouth that demands you play HIS taste in music all night. thats what ipods are for. i repeat, try and find songs that keep the girls moving and happy too. they are what we come to see. you run a gogo not a disco!

its weird that the prices are different each way. i got a taxi from bkk to pats. nice new car, good aircon but the driver grunted and snorted a lot. he didnt drive very fast ,, the highlight of the trip was being over taken by a madman in a bus in the left breakdown lane who had his wheels in the dirt. fucking amazing! cost was about 1200bt but that didnt include me having to get my underwear cleaned! pats to bkk (poomi). organised a taxi from guy on soi 8 that turned out to be an old bmw which was fine. 800bt as a bonus i got to watch thai music dvd's. there was quite a traffic jam and the driver took a 'local knowledge' shortcut around it. i had developed a cough either from the hotel aircon or from sleeping too close to a crack he decided to pull over at a 7-11. no problem, we had plenty of time. to my surprise he emerged with a red-bull for himself and a bottle of water and some little brown pills for me. he indicated to put 2 on my tongue and suck them. 10 mins later.... cough and hiccups gone! bonus points to Thailand! i do hope he made it back to Pats alive so i can use him next trip.

yep the Nana, was prompt and said they had no rooms via email. when i phoned, i got one. TIT

it can be a bit hit and miss. i tried to book in to the Nana in Bkk last november through various sites including theirs. all said they were fully booked. i thought stuff it and called the Nana direct by phone. in less than 2 mins a room was booked and confirmed. i used the net to book a room at the flipper lodge. all ok and they said they would send me a confirmation email. nothing forthcoming. again i phoned. they said, 'yes you have booking, why you call?' derrrr if in doubt, make a quick call, at least then you will know for sure. try and write down date, time and name of who you talked to.

Alan, i have been involved with music and played in bands for over 30 years and live music is my thing, but in your situation a computer is the go. you can then access every song you could ever think of. have a backup with some cd's though, in case the computer ever does a wobbly. if you have a friend or one of your girls is computer savvy, its simple. if you have access to songs that punters like, that goes a long way for repeat business. get your girls to write a list of what they like too. if they like what they hear, they are more likely to liven up, perform and be happy. us punters may be in your place for an hour or two but the girls have to tolerate the same repetitious drivel every night. give them some choices. you can have request/theme nights, special songs for various girls etc (nok nok who's there!?) i'd like to be there to witness 'nok's biggest tits' (tehe) YOU are paying the baht!! take some control back mate. nothing pisses me off more than seeing some gel headed, sullen, self indulgent, wanna be pop-star wanker DJ in the corner playing crap that HE likes at a stupid volume. nothing can kill the vibe of a place quicker. the vibe is the first thing that hits you when you walk in to any venue. take some control back!!! see you in april ps.. what about ' noking on heavens door?' dunno why i did it? i went to get a lcd monitor for my home pc... came out with acer travelmate 2483!! i am a laptop novice but this appears to fit my needs, wifi, 80gb HD, multi dvd burner, card reader. never used wifi so will be winging it. i do a lot of photographic stuff so the burner/card reader should be great. so i guess this beast will accompany me to Los march/april. For security, i'll do like i did with my camera and video equipment ... this stuff ALWAYS lives in my locked suitcase. TG's dont know whats in the case anyhow. makes it tricky for a TG to sneak a big case past security.

not strictly legal but if you have a prescription drug that you use at home, take the packaging with you to LOS. your name will be on the packet/bottle. if you get the same stuff in Pats put it in the packaging. this is ok if you are using the same product of course. my doctor knows i travel a lot and i have a covering letter from him with the list of prescription drugs that i need. (asthma etc) best to cover yourself rather than get nailed. having said that, baht seems to get whatever you need in LOS.

Finnair have a daily service from helsinki to BKK. i notice they fly from man to hel as well. i used finnair as part of my trip from Australia to Warsaw. adl-syd-bkk-hel- waw. was the cheapest option at the time. long story! and you guys think you have shitty flights? gimme a break ...haha anyhow, its another airline you might consider.

probably majestic suites, nicer then the Nana Hotel and crawling distance to everything you want. the new look dynasty might be ok but i havent seen it. should get something very nice on your budget. enjoy! oh for bars, i really liked the bamboo bar opposite the grace hotel on soi 3. good house band and atmosphere. the missus would be comfortable there.
