  1. I had a great time at the Metro last year and if I can get in, I hope to re-visit this August! Great people, great value!
  2. I also try and control my bladder until i get my luggage. A quick trip to the toilet before immigration can mean 200 people get in front of you!
  3. Not sure if it will be an issue for you but it can be noisy if your room faces the soi 7 side. (But good for watching the goings on below) The last 2 times I stayed at Eastiny 7, I was on the 6th floor on the opposite side.
  4. Funnily enough, a lot of the places that have pools in Patong arent girl friendly. They are mainly family tourist places and will charge large joiners fees. There is a perfectly great beach 5 mins from anywhere in Patong. For good girl friendly hotels (no pool though) I can recommend the Summer Breeze Hotel or the Orchid Residence both on Soi SanSabai 2 minutes from the action. Either should come in less than 1500bt a night in low season.
  5. Just booked some flights in August to Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Phuket from BKK. Price was 99bt per sector. After taxes and upping my baggage allowance to 20kg, this works out to be less than Aud$45 return for each trip. This is a great deal for anyone interested in seeing some other parts of Thailand on the cheap!
  6. Good deals but I dont live in Sydney!
  7. Some places like the Eastiny 7 have wired internet to the superior rooms. Reception supplied the ethernet cable. Signal strength for wired or wi-fi is random depending on where you are.
  8. This site is good for Phuket stuff. http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/
  9. Ha, I have found that the best cure for any ailments in the crotchal area is female saliva!
  10. G'day Mick, I spoke to the Ex-TGF in Phuket last night. Its not nearly as hot down there but she was complaining thet it has been pissing down with rain the past few weeks. Looks like the 1st monsoon has hit early this year. Take care and hope to catch up in August!
  11. Sing Air has some great deal from Australia to Bkk at the moment if you book online. http://www.singaporeair.com/ Its worth playing around with the dates but fares are available to BKK at the moment for AUD$811 including taxes. Naturally i paid $1200 about 5 weeks ago .grrrrrrr These fares are mid year and can go up by $300 with a slightly different departure date. Well worth a look. Sorry I dont know about Singpore Air prices from Euro. Might be worth checking though. PS. I just checked and you can get a flight from Sydney to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap via Singapore for AUD$780 on 1st May (ret 13may) Thats very cheap. links .. http://www.bestflights.com.au/ns/tools_res...09.html#sq_flts http://www.bestflights.com.au/cgi-bin/209/...aindetails=4191
  12. Well NokTang, dont look at the threads and you will be none the wiser. Have a nice day.
  13. Thanks Adam, nice work!
  14. I've just booked my next trip for Aug/Sept. Last year was 3 trips, this year only 1 planned. My Thai domestic fares are with Air Asia. They owed me US$220 credit from a flight they cancelled on me last year. That has given me 5 flights. BKK to Chiang Mai return, BKK to Phnom Penh return and Bkk down to Phuket. Just lucky they had cheap fares available. Only 1 trip but i'll make damned sure its a good one. I feel for the guys whose jobs are shakey at the moment. Heres hoping things improve for us all! Exchange rate included!
  15. Thanks Groggy. I have visited NK but I didnt bother to go up on the bridge.
  16. Trying to think back Mick. Where is the railway bridge over the Mekong? Cant remember seeing one being built last May.
  17. Hi AC, as an experiment I checked Tigers fares from Perth to Bangkok for the same dates that I booked on Singapore Air today. I dont live in Perth but the fare with Tiger was $721. The connection times are horrific but ok if you live in Perth I guess. My Singair flight is about $1300 but I am flying out of 1 Aussie city and back into another. The main thing i'd worry about is if Tiger will still be doing these routes in 6 months when I am flying.
  18. I just saw this headline in a local paper. I wonder if these are the looms where TG's live?
  19. The eventual downside is airlines will cut routes and frequency of flights giving us less options. They like to call it consolidating. Get it in while we can!
  20. Thanks RWB. I did the Udon to Chiang Mai flight a while back. It was handy. I think flying out of Poomi will help Nok. I know what you mean with Air Asia. I have US$220 worth of credit with them. It will be interesting to see how I go booking flights to use up that credit.
  21. I'm a bit confused. Does this mean that Nok and 1 2 go will now operate from Poomi or have they gone tits up?
  22. Excellent! 50m from my home base! Cya next trip!
  23. Looks good!
  24. In May you should have a choice to stay anywhere you want as its the start of low season. Maybe just book the Sabai for a few days then go around to some other places and have a look? Easy enough to extend. The Eastiny Group hotels all have decent sized pools for instance.
  25. Agree with above. Can also try Rosie O'Grady's next to the P&W or Canterbury Tales and Robins Nest.
