anyone due to fly out of UK this weekend?
nidnoyham replied to pattaya_mad's topic in Airline Discussion
Having worked at Heathrow, I wonder how much of these disruptions, is down to Health & Safety ? When I think of the things we did back in the 80's to keep things on the move.... a ramp guy once walked out onto the wings of the BWIA flight with a rope around his waist and three bloke holding the end, to sweep snow off. Can you imagine that now ? On this snowfall day, BA canceled all flights at LHR. Why ALL ? The Gaffer of the BAA, was live on TV in the snow at it's worst, with aircraft taking off, saying that the airport was operational. When pressed for an answer to why B -
No joe, the Welsh, Scots and N.Irish, don't want to play Olympic football. It is because FIFA are so anti British, that they don't want to take the chance of losing their countries recognition as a International side. All the FA's are happy with the situation. It is the BOA that is causing a fuss. Football and Olympic sports, are two separate entities in our eyes. The Olympics are supposed to be for amatuer contestants. I was at Fort William highland games, one rainy windswept day. There was an announcement, that they only had 1 competitor for the 400yds race. Anyone who fanci

Talking of the Olympics Tom- Oh and LDK ,yes and JoeK The leaders of the four home nations, will not back down on their decision that the football team playing in the 2012 Olympics, will have English players only. This agreement was signed two years ago. The British Olympic Association is insisting that all British players should be eligible and based on merit. The Fa are trying to sort it out. The other three nations are worried that to send a mixed team, will threaten their status with FIFA. Wales, Scotland and N Ireland want to be recognized as individual footballing nations.

Both teams have decided, the only way to get you lot through the Turnstiles on the fifth day, is to give your team a result on the second. Lets see how many of you have more important things like jobs to go to, if your team are on top. Griffin Park was almost empty on Tuesday. Now I know how the Barmy Army feel at Ashes games ! That's the last time I advise an Aussie bowler to go over the wicket when bowling. That Johnston bloke must read this forum. I still think he has a 'chucker' action, almost like a baseball pitcher !

Oh. so that's why the wickets are so brown at The Ashes games ! Is it the tears of joy, or despair doing it ?

Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule

When I said WE. I was using the Royal 'WE', as in Great Britain. Designed here, built here and made obsolete here. In 2011, our commercial aircraft, will fly at the same speed they have flown for decades and future military ones, will need a runway to operate. One step forward two steps back. To think if it wasn't for our idea of a movable tail trim, the Americans would never of broken the sound barrier. We got well stitched up on that deal. " You share your technology with us and we'll share ours with you " Trouble is ours worked. They used it and Hollywood made another film -
A Polish taxi driver, told me that Wojciech's dad was a goalie too. He was the only player to talk to the press after the game- told them Man. U were lucky to score that flukey goal. There is a touch of the Grobblers about him, in as much as he does come a long way off his line at times.

Back to Aircraft for a mo' Am I the only one to be perplexed about the demise of two of the most innovative aircraft in our time that are no longer flying ? Forty years ago, we had an commercial aircraft that crossed the Atlantic in 3-1/2 hours- now it takes over 6 ! We also had a military aircraft that could land and take off on a tennis court, that is to be replaced by one that can't ! It is like mobile phones going back to being the size of a briefcase, or PC's of 1GB memory. Strange thing is, both were built in the U.K and Europe. Where are Boeing when you need t -
Plus the salt water from all that crying may make the grass greener !

Yep, we ain't all got a printing press like the Government !
-
Well lads- never underestimate the power of denial ! Got the weather forecast ready ?
-
Right in front of their fans too. That idiot who kept throwing fireworks onto the pitch at our end, saw to that- Prick ! Th fans pointed him out to a copper after the game.
-
Also noted our young Ex Brentford goalie played well against the United too. We knocked the rough edges off him for you ! Our replacement goalie Richard Lee, saved three penalties last night, in a shoot out with The Addicts. Two games against Exeter and we could be at Wembley. Bet young Wojciech wishes he had stayed here.

If we had said no we wont play you. Do you think it would have persuaded him to change his mind ? The FA were, as usual, out of touch with how far this bunch of crooks had sold them down the river to the Russkies. It's time we started to be a bit less walkoverable. You fucked us- well fuck you too ! When you compare the likes of Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst, Trevor Brooking and others on the FA, to this bunch of Shylocks running FIFA, it puts it into perspective. Sepp Blatter - twinned with Simon Cowell or Bernard Maydoff..... Franz Beckenbauer, has described the FI

I disagree its a poor show from the FA. What Mr Makudi has said is- I just fucked your wife, but can I still borrow your golf clubs Saturday, as arranged ? "
-
Yeah, not only in the wrong place, but in one place !
-
Right ! I thought that was a fit up too. At least they will be held in one city, unlike the W.Cup spread all over Russia. I will go out on a limb and claim that less people wanted the Olympics in London, than wanted the football W.Cup in England. About 80-90% less ? As I said before, if Ken Livingstone and Tony Blair wanted it, that was enough for me not to. Neither are renown for their sporting prowess. It was a political thing, sold to the public, on how much re generation it will bring to the East end of London- yeah we all care about that. The Olympics has a terrib

Yeah- hes too busy coming over her back..... What a tart she is. There will always be room in the world for a tart tho'. So, she has an actor, Indian tycoon and now a cricketer in her cards- wouldn't want to play her at Top Trumps.

I have no animosity to change. I don't fear the unknown- I have never been to Japan- Australia, or S. Korea, but I think their W.Cup bids would be higher on MY list of countries, than Qatar. Then again, if nothing else, I am a practical person. Qatar is geographically ideal- smack bang in the middle of the world, but....... Heat, culture, strict religion, non footballing country and unlikely to ever become one on any significance..... This is footballs premier event. The choice of venue, should put the game first. In S.Africa it was a great occasion for those native to t

How many countries play pro hockey, compared to those who play pro football ? How will I get my housework done in the winter on a Saturday, without listening to football on the radio ? It isn't really the fact Qatar has it- as unfair it is on others, it is the way they were chosen. I would prefer to pull them out of a hat, than have all that bollocks from FIFA about needing to check countries facilities, planned and in situ, suitability of accomodation, transport, tourist attractions....... They could do it all from Zurich- No need to leave their offices- Have they never hear

January and February are in the middle of the football league season. No EPL From December ? That's why we play the world cup in the Summer. It is the close season. Sounds like bollocks to me. What next ? Beach Volley ball in Alaska ? Perl diving championships in Sharm - El- Sheik ? Camel races at Royal Ascot..... Yes you can have the world cup in Qatar, even if it means moving an entire continents football season to achieve it.

Allegedly ! 42c outside the stadia. I wonder how the ball will react to still, cool air ? If we strike oil in the Lake District, the World Surfing Finals will be held at Lake Windemere and Coniston. We will build a pair of wave machines to make it realistically possible. The surfers won't know any different- apart from the lack of salt in their eyes Who needs the sea ?
-
Bring back the Home Championships ! We play with our ball, in our back yard and don't have to crawl up some foreigners arse to organize it. No exchange rates, passports, visas....... And the Jocks get to wreck the Wembley pitch (if they win )

So true. I remember when my county team Middlesex, had Thomo' Bowling at one end and Joel Garner at the other. What chance for a young English bowler to compete with them ? Personally, I prefer slower, more accurate and thoughtful bowlers like John Embury a few years ago. The mind game between bowler and batsman, was more entertaining. Bowler changing length, batsman coming up the wicket.......
