Maybe western countries should realise than single retired men, many former Service or merchant marines, don't have the means to retire at home. Sunview has adjoining rooms so that may appeal and a baht bus to WS or hit the bars around there which are not busy but have plenty of pool tables and girls doing nothing. I have stayed there twice, Rooms good value for the price considering the pool. Yes close to bars but some like that. baht bus out the front. Walk through the road next door to second road although a bit long winded. Take a beer. Tesco lotus and family mart within a minute. Charge for 2nd guest is an issue, Parking underneath if driving. It is actually only 10 minutes to Le Carre le Blanc if you take the short cuts and the same to Lk metro. Rooms are large enough and the security is friendly.

The McDonalds in Jakarta is disgusting. No bacon. Not been game to try it in any other SE Asian country. KFC was ok in KL. The best food in Thailand is fish and finger pie available from the nearest bar or massage place. I keep coming back for it and it is not fattening.
