How do you bargain down hotel prices?
gaijin replied to Obsession's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I walked into the Amari Nova to bargain once and got them from 4000 baht for a 1 bedroom suite down to ~2500 baht per night. Still a bit expensive for me but I did get a tour of the room and it was REALLY nice. I ended up staying at the View Talay 6. -
My thoughts exactly, I think dreamed up five 0's too many. What a load of bullshit.

There is much truth in this ^^

What's your point? This is not a AC board.
-
That Richard fella has been stirring a lot of shit over there in AC from what I've heard. He's been kicked out of the country only to find a loophole to get back in, and last I heard his bars were raided multiple times and the police were looking to put his ass away for life. He does seem to have some connections though as he always buys his way out.

What would be some of your recommendations on 1000 baht/night hotel?

Last trip I had a LT girl who I spent at least half my stay with. After a while I got the itch to butterfly and told her my intentions. I liked her quite a bit and planned to spend my last few days with her to send me off to the airport peacefully so I told her this and offered to give her the rate I was giving her LT for the time I'd be butterflying. And I gave it to her upfront, so she wouldn't have to go with other customers. That wasn't the only reason I gave it to her, but since I was giving her money on a sort of short time sponsorship I demanded she not go with other customers and she agreed that she'd pick up phone whenever I called. And I did check up on my investment, she was honest the first few days, but things changed when she saw me riding by her bar with another thai girl on the back and I guess her co-workers let her know about it too and thus she lost face even though it was made clear that I'd be butterflying. So she stops taking my calls and most likely went with other guys, and when we did finally get face to face again she lied every which way claiming she'd lost her phone at Mike's Shopping Mall, and didn't go to retrieve it for a few days, yea bullshit right? After this episode I decided never to do so again and stick strictly with pay as you go. If I can't even trust a girl on a short time sponsorship and I'm right down the block from where her bar was, how could anyone really trust a Thai girl on a sponsorship when they are out of country. She'll go fucking someone else first chance she gets, guaranteed.

Last trip I brought 200 Parliament Lights and had a TG who loved to smoke as well, she went through half my stash and we were out in 8 days, rest of my stay had to buy Marlboro Lights from 7/11. Next trip I'll probably pick up a carton from Hong Kong duty free as I usually have a 2 hour layover there.

My mate a newbie first time in Pattaya
gaijin replied to berettakid's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yea see if he can get a refund on the package holiday and rebook a flight only. There's no need to stay in a 5 star hotel in Pattaya, especially if his spending budget is so low. The money he saves should allow for a much more enjoyable time. -
As long as I didn't know the guy and all the right circumstances line up. Like if I'm doing absolutely nothing during those 2 hours she's free and I remember she was a REALLY good shag and I just happen to have a hard on, I don't see why not. Not like the guy will ever find out. And after he goes home she'll probably be shagging others anyways.

Compared to the typical monger of course, who make up for the most money being pumped into the Pattaya economy. Yes, pretty much. Most non P4P visitors won't ever spend more than a few hundred dollars during their trip, and I would think many are turned off by what they see. There are many better places to visit in the world than Pattaya. Its main attraction is the girls and how easy it is to get one in bed. There is only 1 fancy shopping mall, and I don't think the 5* hotels are exactly filling up. Many places to stay for much cheaper and better value. Although I wouldn't mind staying a 5* hotels. I wouldn't mind paying the high rates for a few nights, but for a weeks is a whole different story. I think some mongers pay up to 800 baht for their guesthouse and up to 65 baht draft beer. And then many more pay 1500 baht hotel room and 110 baht bottle beer. I'm one of "Cheap people" nationalities, Chinese American actually, but I spend much more than them because I come to monger. Its all about the location of the bar. The tourists don't really bother me much, except the hordes to dodge when they're crossing Beach Rd. And those couple billion are dirt broke, many even poorer than Issan farmers. The visitors from the cheaper countries are already the elite of their country. The super elite of their country holiday elsewhere, first world countries in Europe. Rich women from China flood into expensive shops in France where they have to limit the amount of $5000 purses they can buy so they don't clean them out.

Pattaya can expand and grow all it wants. But I think at some point the bubble is going to burst. Sure there are many non mongering tourists but they are also happen to be cheap people who aren't so into spending money on the local economy - Indians, Chinese, Koreans, Russians. I don't see them in the bars. I don't see many of them in the malls. And even if they are they quickly realize the prices are on par with what it is back home so why the fuck spend money in Pattaya? The beaches are shit, the water is dirty, sand is litter ridden, locals are scam artists or annoying as hell with their constant good for sale stuck in your face. Mongering may not be the largest tourism factor in Thailand, but it sure as hell is for Pattaya. Mongerers are the ones spending the money. All those Asians coming off the tour buses are from tour packages. All their meals are paid for in advance. You won't see them running up a 2000 baht check bin in any bar. So, I say let them come, as long as they aren't competing for the P4P girls they will eventually piss off back where they came from and realize Pattaya really isn't so fun unless you want to take lady.

I would assume most days you'll be going into town meaning Pattaya. Jomtien is really small and there's not a whole lot to do. I would stay in one of the Jomtien condos if I were to be there for a long stay, as its cheaper. But the downside is you're away from all the action. Having a motobike would help a lot. Would allow you to go places much faster than baht bus.

fake wedding ring to discourage possessive BGs?
gaijin replied to SmellyFarang's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Why not just be a man about it and tell her No you don't want to meet mama papa. -
Let's just close the poll right now and champion Frosty as the successor. Randy, tell Frosty he's won.

That comment would have got you in trouble over at Pattaya-Addicts, those bastards are ridiculously uptight! -
Happy gogo and alcatraz memberships?
gaijin replied to voodoo's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
What nationality are you? The gogos are very discriminating to certain ethnicity. Telling you "members only" is a polite way to say fuck off. -
Cobras MC gang. Looking for trouble?
gaijin replied to rob270's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
That's what I always thought about them. If the Hells Angels ever visited Soi 6 they'd whip these Cobra MC asses just for the hell of it. -
Damn, If I ever move to Pattaya I'd rent this in a heartbeat. I love View Talay 6

Cobras MC gang. Looking for trouble?
gaijin replied to rob270's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I don't think you've given the complete story. There are probably 4 sides of the story. Yours, the frail old man's, the bikers', and the real truth which was probably all a big misunderstanding. And that's what it sounds like. Besides, he didn't threaten you with physical violence, he even offered to leave the bar first. Are you sure you didn't call them some fucking wankers or something instead? -
Would you bring your uk girlfriend to pattaya
gaijin replied to aarmitage9's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
First of all I'd say you're a lucky SOB that your girl knows about you having whored around and she's ok with your past. I'd ask her if she'd be ok with seeing what you know she will see. She'll probably say yes. As for barfining any girls, well I'd stay away from that. And if she does end up going with you then ask her not to tell her dad about it. He'll likely not approve of her dating a younger version of himself. If you make her stay home, she'll hate you for it because she probably wants to go badly if she asks. -
Sounds like a place to avoid.

Need room for 3-4 months in S.Pattaya or Jomtien
gaijin replied to gbahder's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
View Talay 2 should have something in your price range. Near the Jomtien Beach also. I would suggest renting a motobike long term if you're going to be there for awhile. http://dancewatchers.com/Studio_Condo_s_for_rent.html -
If it is made in Thailand, then it will have likely gone through American quality control standards. I'm just saying, there's plenty of excellent places to get leather wear in the US, and buying it in Thailand unless you know exactly what you're getting is really taking a risk. When you buy something that's not from a name brand store in Thailand, it will not have gone through any sense of QC. What kind of savings could possibly make it worth it to bring home a leather jacket from Thailand? You can buy excellent quality in the US for only a few hundred dollars, ~6000 baht. Besides, the cows in Thailand weigh half as less as the cows in America. That's why steaks in Thailand are shit too.
-
Does he know exactly what he wants and where you can get it? If not, I cannot imagine buying a leather coat in Thailand that could be anywhere near as good as you can get in the states. Most all clothing in Thailand is shit quality IMO. So is the custom made stuff too. For a leather coat, I'd be willing to pay the premium for something that fits and name brand in the US.
