Rhoel, you just fucked up my retirement plans.

Anything under 150 sq meters in the US is considered to be a slum by most. Why would anyone buy into something that small in Thailand?

The house has no shutters. Sits at ocean level. And has 70s era sliding glass doors. What kind of crap is this?

10bt/stick in Bankok. I think I remember Pen from Sept 03 paying 7bt/stick in Pattaya.

Leave the stress of driving to someone else! Besides, its amazing how much beer you can drink when you arn't driving. -
Did you oversleep past happy hour? Was your BF gone when you went to pick her up? Is your visa overdue? Did your LT snag your camera? Did your 10 turn out to be a LB? Did you miss your connection to Bangkok in Japan? Well, if you think you've had a bad day, just check this out! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8181801990250175607

I guess ttk wasn't the only one that didn't get it.

I have used asiahotels.com twice and both times I was impressed by the results I got. In one of the hotels I was upgraded for free to a two bedroom apartment with asking. The second time the hotel room was way nicer than expected. asiahotels.com also inspects the hotels themselves and I believe their assesments are pretty accurate. BTW, I want to express my discontent here with Holiday Inn. DONT STAY THERE!

With enough money, you can get any score you want.

I've never heard of a maintenance man being university trained. Could you please explain?

I have spent several days on the phone with the company representing to me to be Holiday Inn. Actually, I don't know if I was speaking to the the hotel chain Holiday Inn or with one of their sublets. The jist of the conversation is that they told me (whoever it is that Holiday Inn gives you a phone number for), is that Holiday Inn takes no responsibility for the hotels that they book you with bla bla bla. So my point is, if you ar traveling around the world, you can't trust holiday inn. They completely let me down and I would love to tell anyone about it that wants to here it.

I've been reading here and there about condos and houses and such. Now I have an idea of what I would like if I were to retire to Thailand in 10 years. Unfortunately, I havn't seen anyone building anything near that. So here are my specs just in case anyone is listening. I live in a low cost of living area, so don't be surprised with what you hear. Also, if anyone else has an opinion, please add it. 1500 sq feet. Kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms, living room, bathroom with shower and jacuzzi. Porch area. Single story with enough grass out the back door to have a large dog. 24x7 security for the complex. Washer/Dryer Community swimming pool. High speed internet service. Weekly maid service for hire. Easy Bahtbus access. Oh, and the price, $25,000 or 1,000,000 baht

The Phuket Hilton kept trying to charge me a 1000 baht, but I just kept reminding them that the room had been reserved for two people. Its even better because I didn't pay anything for the room. I used Hilton points.

From a physics point of view, this would have been very difficult for the driver to spot until it was too late.

Raylene, The girls were constantly complaining about having to walk with me. I have yet to figure out how an old and obese man with a heart condition can cause a young skinny girl to complain about walking.

So whats involved in the medical certificate?

Can you arrange a Thai lady to shoot for me since I am so important I won't be able to attend in person?

I caught a thai flight between bkk and tokyo this september. A340 in cattle class. The seats did rotate a little and leg rests fold down from below the seat in front. But the seats are still small and the padding is thin. It was uncomfortable. If you must sit in a cattle class seat, American is the best way to go.

Early Retirement or work another 5 years?

At 65, you can no longer get Thai health insurance. I think the plan would be to find a 30 yo TG to take back to the states when you turn 65 to take care of you. (your old age health insurance is only good in the USA). Put your money in a trust that she can't get to even if you become senile. -
Since I can't be physically present for the tourny, can I select an FLB girl to substitute hit for me?

Dave, Touristman, I started this thread just for the guys that never learned to use their hands. I even tried to make it vague to those that don't know US football team names/coaches so that they would keep reading. Looks like it worked HOOK, LINE and SINKER!!!!

I know this may sound obvious, but KEEP A BLACK PEN FOR FILLING OUT FORMS BOTH IN BANGKOK AND THE US.

Thank god there is only two weeks left until the start of SEC football. Spurrier starts it off against Central Florida. This will be his second attempt to survive outside the swamp and will be interesting to watch. Going a little west, it will be interesting to see if Shula can keep his team out of the court room and on the field. Rumor has it that if he doesn't get a big win this year, the Crimson Tide will be once again coachless because the booster club just can't let go of Bear Bryant. The Bulldogs have typically been a solid team year to year, but once again it looks they will just be brides maids this year. The Volunteers who have both hands and feet have a good shot at beating the west coast boys (also known as English cigarettes) who only play one real game a year. A big battle is expected between the Commodores and some Wildcats for last place. So cheer up everyone. Only two weeks!
