  1. Actually, they just knocked down several resorts, and will be doing quite a few more. It was in the papers, with pictures and all. .
  2. Trivia of the Day: The Packers have had some pretty good QBs. Who holds the Packers' one-game passing record? .
  3. Better to bitxh and moan about how nothing is available to watch than, you know, watch it. .
  4. I was just coming back to this thread to update. Good one. I'm not sure what NFL.com has exactly on the Internet feed, but on US cable-TV there's an NFL channel called Red Zone. It's a whip-around channel that switches from game to game depending what is exciting at the moment. It is ONLY on when the games are on, totally live. An excellent way to keep up on all games, actually -- if the one you like is blowing out, or if you're interested in several games at once. .
  5. You don't turn on regular TV and watch the NFL unfortunately. You have to be a little inentive - SlingBox works, the NFL.com is terrific and you can stream that to a TV set, etc, etc. There are lots of midnight-moving websites that carry sports stuff when you get desperate, Google usually has lists of those you can try. MM said weeks back that he had signed up the NFL.com for FLB, you definitely better check there. .
  6. To put it another way: Who beat Tebow? Well, we've progressed quite a bit though, Vic. You have magically and personally converted your two-bit Tebow, not in any way qualified to be in the NFL, into a guy who personally beat six teams in a row, then personally lost the next two in a row. That's quite a conversion in just one thread. Who did he beat? He beat the ONLY teams the NFL allowed him to beat. Who else could he beat, pray tell? Just like the only teams that have ever beaten Tebow were the ones on the Denver schedule, drawn up by the NFL last year. That's Tebow's fault now, the l
  7. Well.... yes. Who doesn't? That was my base point, is that you can run the numbers and come up with "abysmal" for anywhere. For people *in* Thailand, Thailand has an abysmal record. On the other hand, for people *in* Thailand who are not half or fully pixxed on a motorcycle at night, it's not nearly *as* abysmal. Listen, don't get me wrong, if I'm behind the wheel for 30 minutes or more, count on an expletive about the jerk that I just saw, even if I'm in a good mood. But I can think of one or two other places where I can easily match that record. .
  8. Blackburn can. I thought it was hilarious, coming a few minutes after Sir Alex said he just wants to hang around another three years. .
  9. But that's also hugely misleading. Thailand is second because it gets a lot of US tourists. It's just a number, in relation to nothing at all. If there were something like "per 100,000 miles driven by US tourists" for example, then you'd have something worth going "hmmmm" over. Thailand has the second greatest number of deaths. What is the ranking of the greatest number of NON-deaths? Compared with other countries, how many Americans do NOT get killed in any way in Thailand? Pretty big number, for sure. Nothing like Canada or Mexico, though. Statistics. You gotta love 'em. EDIT:
  10. Not even close, by whatever measurement - car ownership, miles driven, per 100,000 or whatever. You can Google it yourself, but I bet you can't come up with such a chart as you say. Africa is way worse, for starters. South Africa is worse. Vietnam is worse. And so on. Most deaths in Thailand have three things in common - two wheels, alcohol and night. Yes, there are HORRENDOUS deaths on the highways, and there are really bad drivers in Thailand. But it's not even close to the top, not even a contender. Last year there were about 33,000 Americans killed in traffic deaths, let's say 13,000 i
  11. Ah, you Brits, so understated. Really disgusting. Like MM, I wouldn't serve them. If I had a mall business, I'd be urging all the stalls, kiosks and stores around me not to serve them. This is really worth a City Hall campaign, "Save the last shred of Pattaya dignity". .
  12. You seem to connect these two thoughts. One is wrong, one is (mostly) right. They are two dots but you haven't connected them. Let's try: It makes a difference what you wear, otherwise you will pay more money AND you still won't get the full choice. Money is number 1 in general, but there's quite a lot in Pattaya you can't buy no matter how much you have. If you look like, act like and actually are a reasonably decent person, you'll get a lot more choice for a lot less money. etc, etc. There's no place in the world you can't, literally, put xhit on your shirt and get laid,
  13. Yes. Always. Without fail. They have do. The IP is your address on the Internet, Without it, they can't contact you. How long they keep it is very, very variable. Because... Not international, no. International law can't do that (yet) unless you count the Eeee-yew! But the answer is yes, no, maybe and sometimes. In Thailand they must, and they must keep it for a long time. In some countries, some states, some jurisdictions. And of course it is evolving. The correct thing to do is to assume that they do. I'm surprised you think a commercial company might, and of course a g
  14. There is VERY good news from the museum, especially given the pessimism of early visitors by kayak (really). I'll try to post a report, but in general most of the stuff survived -- including everything at the small souvenir stand, which is well worth your support. This is a very interesting museum, and I hope this thread stimulates people to get up and go there. .
  15. Really! Yes, it's Pattaya, yes, standards get lower all the time, but you need SOME standard perpetesake. It may be me, but frankly people inside a business of any kind without a shirt, it's low class in my mind. Very, very few exceptions, like that bar in the middle of the pool at the Royal Cliff, say. .
  16. I wouldn't say "offended" but it would be hard to have respect for such a person. Any examples among otherwise (formerly) excellent sports experts? I don't think I've seen one. Not a bad year at all, The Broncos have two (real) rookies who qualify, no doubt about it. And it being Denver they get all kinds of praise. Why wouldn't they? Then they are not fans. But you need to look in a mirror. If everyone who wears his religion on his sleeve in the NFL is a jerk, then get that Reggie White guy outta there. Ten times? G'wan. Get outta here!! AD - 81.8 rating, 58.9 per ce
  17. No question. If statistics sold tickets, Orton would be playing for a contender instead of filling in for a backup QB on a last-place team. What was the win-loss again, where the only difference in the teams was the quarterback? .
  18. There's no concern over the solvency of Thai banks, but there's no return to speak of. Three per cent is a fabulous, dream rate, probably impossible. And borrowing rates are going back down again for a while, too, so savings-interest sure isn't going anywhere good. .
  19. Nuts! It always takes me days to get this one out of the mind. Great song. Great group. One of the truly great rock sounds. .
  20. Perfect explanation. Thanks a lot.
  21. So you are totally contradicting yourself. Earlier, you were saying how Elway was going to trade away this improved team to get Andrew Luck. Which one is it? I can assure you it won't be both. Elway doesn't like Tebow, so all he has to do is go against the fans, trade away the improved elements of the team, and he can have Luck. Like I say - again - I don't believe Elway has the guts. This job is his last chance. If he screws up, the only thing he'll be doing for the rest of his life is glad-handing at some steak restaurant and living off an NFL pension. But anyhow, the Broncos have the sa
  22. You bet they notice. Girls in Pattaya are a lot like girls. They prefer someone who looks "smart". They may settle for slobs but they prefer otherwise. In Asia, in public, lack of shirt off the beach is frowned on, considered quite low class. Pattaya is a place you can get away with shorts, though - that is also frowned on in most places. .
  23. 1. There's no rule. Click or don't click, when you feel like it, for the reason you feel like it. Get all negative on a guy for his stupidity, his lousy grammar, his stupid opinion, for his horrible board name. Click green when you feel like it. Really. 2. If there were a rule, it would be unenforceable. How would anyone KNOW why you clicked, or refused to click? 3. There is no rule. .
  24. Bazle, do you strongly agree with bad posts - or disagree strongly with good posts? Strongly enough you'd feel you had to rate them? .
