jacko, I don't think anyone can tell you what "will happen" on your specific PC. Most people using AVG have no problem whatsoever. Some just go bonkers. I see this frequently. But it's untrue. AVG isn't for everyone by any means, including me, but it hasn't stopped any support or issuing the freeware. Yes. Also products labelled Norton, to be clear. There are other questionable programs, but Norton and Symantec security software is a total, complete mess and should NEVER be used by individuals, ever, under any circs. .

It's the same amount and the same percentage (EXACTLY the same) as Tesco pays each rice farmer. I thought this was simple. Boy, was I wrong!. . -

Sigh. Give it up! RS is not BROADCASTING the World Cup, RS is selling the broadcast rights in Thailand. RS is not a broadcaster, RS is a very large entertainment company. . -
Thai Cops to Crack Down on Foreign Gangs
joekicker replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Irony du Jour. Good one. Gave me a larf. . -
Today's balls, it's almost nothing but a rush of air anyhow. Now, in the REAL days of the REAL World Cups and REAL footballs laced up around the sheep stomach with REAL leather and muddy fields.... I did get a kick (NO pun) out of the poor goalie injured in the chest when a meanie on the other team hit the ball into him, though, they had to get the trainer out and all. Good grief, even I was embarrassed for him. .

Since the word "soccer" has NOTHING to do with "the yanks" then why continue on about them? Ignorant, are they? Stupid? .

Greg, you've truly got this backwards. RS bought the Thailand broadcast rights to World Cup 2010 from Fifa. They then can divvy up and resell those rights as they see fit. They could sell terrestial rights to the Thai TV pool for example, satellite rights to Channel 3, radio rights to the JoeKicker Radio Network if it pleases them. YOU may not believe this, but it is true nonetheless. In fact RS has sold various TV broadcast rights in Thailand to a number of companies including the Thai TV pool. Any broadcaster in Thailand carrying a World Cup match either (a) has purchased the right to broadcast it from RS International or ( has broken copyright law and is legally subject to quite substantial penalties. RS has every right to demand any payment of any size it wants from anyone showing the game to the public or, more generally, anywhere outside his own home. There is only one LEGAL way not to pay RS to watch the World Cup in Thailand -- don't watch it. . -
Have to be some pretty ignorant and stupid person or group for sure. What a stupid name! Probably Germans! .
-
Heh. There actually is an AFN TV feed into Thailand. If you go sit in the (non-American, main) waiting room of the US Embassy you can watch it, and all the American embassy ghettos supposedly have it. .

Vegas odds are not a ripoff. They are clearly shown and explained. For some people that is over the top of course. .
-
I'd expect that on a baseball news broadcast, though. Plus of course US armed forces radio is for, well, members of the US armed forces, who want to know their hometown news way (trust me here) WAY more than any other news. Horses for courses. Pattaya Daily News doesn't have today's matches on the front page either. (They have yesterday's). .

RS is paying "the World Cup" i.e. Fifa. They are paying "the World Cup" specifically for rights to resell the World Cup. So, yes, they pay "the World Cup" AND keep the money for themselves. Sort of like Fifa does, buying the players and teams, say. . -
child friendly hotel?
joekicker replied to fisherman194's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Any decent hotel will get you up a competent baby sitter in short order, quite often one of the hotel staff with acceptable English. . -
Why do you hate England so? (The team, I mean. The 21st century nation, you already explained.) .
-
Funny, but I thought from another angle That is, I agree with you but didn't stop there. I kept thinking, and especially second half, that the Englishchers were not making any room for him at all. Fairly often, it was like 9 guys and a butterfingers standing around with their thumbs you know where waiting for Rooney to take it through six defenders and make them all look good. I presumed that was mostly the coach who devised those tactics but there was no clear-out for Rooney whatsoever. The Americans really hammered him with coverage and England were helping them, in effect. .

And now we begin the relevant part of the thread. Fact is that it's this way worldwide. Bars in other countries have to pay to turn on their TVs. Generally it is build into the subscription model that they purchase. But you can't (legally) turn on your private-subscription TV for eyeballs outside your household. Martin, it has been that way for decades in California. . -
Try harder. Try reading the post it replied to, that would be a help, I'd think. Going through the thread can be helpful in not embarrassing yourself by making sudden, off-kilter posts. For your edification: The original post claimed that Britain had four different nationalities living on one island and no other country had such a thing. In the post you commented on, I pointed out this was twice wrong. You chose to reply to a point that neither the original message nor my message mentioned. I suppose it's a simple error, but an error anyhow. Did someone write that Singapore "was comprised of" four different distinct countries? I would think you would have quoted it if you had found that, surely. Not sure but it SEEMS you have a lot of straw there and have used some of it to construct a very fragile straw man, quoting me but replying to a point you made up all by yourself? .

I think this whole "going for a tie" business puts a lot of people off. It puts me off. I'd rather watch diving, frankly, and I really hate diving a lot. If teams are going for a draw, they should call off the match, refund the tickets and just award a draw. Why play? .

NO kidding. 6-to-1 is crazy. I'd take a large piece of that. Yes, really. This is current Vegas book on the Cup overall. Spain is 3-1/2 to 1, Brazil 4-to-1 and Argentina 11-2. Then (this quoting a popular Internet site): England: 6-1 The Americans' opponents today are heavily favored to advance out of group play. U.S.: 40-1 This number has been bet down in Vegas from 60-to-1. "I think it's more of a bet made from the heart," said Jay Kornegay, a Vegas sports book director. unquote Tonight's match is a problem for Vegas, because 70 per cent of the bets are on the US, so it really skews the tote, which is used pretty well universally in Vegas. You can get England at a little bit better than 1-to-2 ($19 bet wins $10) which is the best current bet offered that I see. You can actually get 3-to-1 on Rooney scoring the first goal, 8-to-1 on Donovan. .

Some championship strawman building there, aras, you seeing through the many, many posters who have picked the USA to win the WC. I do agree with you, though, that after five, six games we may be able to tell whether Argentina have anything. You wouldn't want to make any predictions before they've showed their stuff. You kind of caught me with my iggerant-hat on, though. I didn't even realise Britain has a team in the World Cup. That's Great. .

I don't know much about it, but the singles event of the synchronised swimming is my favourite NAME of a sport. .

I think it was the Kaiser, actually. .

Well, yes, since the 1984 Olympics and the Budd-weisenheimer. I agree that was pretty funny. Good thing England doesn't have an Olympics team and you can blame her on the bloody Brits! .

McGwire's record setter that cleared the fence by about three inches in what? 270 feet or something like that? spike, here you go, lot of reading here, 203,000 hits it says. .

Precisely my thought. Some entertainment. And a coaching lesson. Totally deserved by an inventive Chicago coach. But 12 hours later, and I'm trying to remember any highlights save the very last, weirdly soft goal. .
