Website About Thailand Shut Down
joekicker replied to overseasplease's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm missing something. The blog is there, the website is there, the guy is being attacked by women's lib types -- seems to me like the world is functioning normally. I'll say that a university professor is a damned fool for hanging his axx out like that, and it is almost certain he will get cut off, because he's a perfesser and because he's on the public payroll and so on. But then I think that a very strong percentage of university perfessers are fools anyhow, so again, nothing to see here, move along. . -
McNab was from a big town, surely known worldwide. The other Max, the REAL Max, was from Delisle. Of course you can google "max delisle saskatchewan". But if you don't have to look it up, you ARE a hockey fan. .

Yes. My post was in reply to the April news story "The Pirate Bay Guilty". It was April of last year. .

You need to clamp down on these selfish women. She saves up her Foodland bags and stitches them together into a carry-on or she doesn't travel. That's what I'd do, anyhow. Demanding a suitcase for one freaking plane ride? Get out of here! .

2009 was last year. Mininova stopped all its pirate operations months ago. .

350 British tourists cause near-riot at Bangkok airport
joekicker replied to lovedog100's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Your pants are on fire. JoeK pointed out that the whiners and whingers at the airport are a bunch of low-class, no-class complainers with no gratitude. JoeK didn't have to make any complaint himself about races, since no one tried to comment on a race or even a nationality that he saw. Even the dreaded packhike only said it was typical of low-class Brits - tasteless but not worth a boot from JoeK. He did make a general statement about the British media, though. It was very impressive and accurate. Go back and read it, it's ever so educational. Correcto, but the name of the airport is (New) Bangkok International Airport and the designator is BKK. So since the authorities have gone all Orwellian, I think a little literary licence by the hacks can be excused. . -
How can any nation that eats Marmite call bugs disgusting? .

So I'm trying to understand this. He got AIDS from a dirty toilet seat. .

My (strong but personal) opinion: Ovechkin is the best around, by quite a bit. He is just a fabulous, totally committed hockey player, a throwback kind of guy, not slightly worried by personal safety or next year's contract in case he might get hurt. Not too many of those guys WITH fantastic talent left. I'd take one of him for my team, otherwise you'd have to give me three Crosbys. I'm serious. The Caps look pretty sharp and motivated. Wouldn't surprise me to see them in the final. It'd be good for the NHL if it was NOT Pittsburgh and Detroit. Sorry, Pittsburgh, but your recent success has become too predictable. It'd be best if you finished a strong second in the East, I think. Detroit, I feel sorry for your poor abused town too, but give the Red Wings a year off, good for everyone all round to see a few less Europeans have a chance for once. But yeah, to be clear, I'm not predicting anything at all, just reporting what was and what has been. The famous philosopher Christoper Berman put it this way: That's why they play the game. The Sharks blow it all by next Sunday, wouldn't surprise me, lots worse has happened to much better teams in the past. But SO FAR they are one hell of a superior team. And how about them Sabres? .
-
Yeah, the very first thing champions do is give up three goals, because who wants to win in 60 minutes? By that standard, the Sharks have no chance at all, all they did was TOTALLY dominate Colorado for six games and never were incompetent enough to win four of them, they had to do it the losers' way, by being better AND scoring more goals. San Jose won IN Denver, by the way. Stat du jour: Dupuis was the first player to score his first playoff goal EVER in a deciding overtime game since Max McNab, the pride of Walton, Sask, when his Wings were on the way to the 1950 Cup. .
-
Sharks, Penguins through. The Sharks looked really awesome for the sixth game in a row. The Penguins definitely did not. Ottawa really brought it, but the Penguins did not look really confident, even though they won. I have a feeling that the western final, Sharks vs Detroit???? will settle the Cup this year. .

350 British tourists cause near-riot at Bangkok airport

... which they didn't need, since Suvarnabhumi airport provided free bed, meals, Internet, phones, TV and more for many days for hundreds of stranded passengers. These are just boorish, dreadful, horrible people with no sense of shame, gratitude or politeness. That is ASSUMING this one solitary unique exclusive media report is correct, by the way. The British press have been known to bring in ploughs and make very high hills out of molehills. . -
You're impressed by 28 saves? You should be impressed by the Sharks' defence that only allowed 28 shots. Terrific game for Sharks fans. No contest. Anderson had nothing to do with it, it was San Jose all the way, FINALLY breaking through. As I said, they had totally dominated the first four games and lost two and just barely won the other two, and they could have lost those and been out 4-0, it was that touch-and-go. On Friday morning, the dominance finally paid off. They were smooth, fully confident and it showed. San Jose are the only Western team that really impresses me this year, but they came within a whisker of losing in the first round -- and they still have to try to win Game 6 IN Denver on Sunday. One game doesn't guarantee anything, but this could have been the game that turned it around and put them in the finals. We shall see, but Game 5 was All Sharks All The Time. Most competitive series, though, I have to say LA and Vancouver. Vic's Penguins going down in Overtime 3 was fun, but you never got or get the feeling that Ottawa is actually challenging. If anyone asks - YES!!! If you know someone who will let you leech his/her US TV broadcasts, get a Slingbox!! .
-
How can they tell what race you are? .

My nomination: Third period of the LA-Vancouver game this morning was best period of the season. DAHM but playoff hockey is wonderful. .

Uncle Sam needs you to join the army

This is all handled by a Thai production company. They make the necessary arrangements, if you catch my drift. There are no work permits or anything like it -- but there are ALSO no hassles for anyone involved in the movie production. If you catch my drift. Being a movie extra in Thailand is one of the world's worst jobs, but on the other hand it's extremely poorly paid. The highlight, actually, is that you get to stick the paltry cash money in your pocket without worrying about little details like work permits and the like. It *is* an experience so I wouldn't actually discourage anyone, but don't expect any of that tinsel to rub off. Later you get to buy the DVD and if you have a good slow-motion feature on your remote, and you're fast with the thumb, you can stop the movie on the frame where you appear, and impress your family and friends. . -
Chivas nailed it. Thailand is a food EXporter, and many decades ago set these high tariffs (typical: 600 per cent) on "luxury" food imports like apples, corn flakes and cheese. They have S-L-O-W-L-Y and A-G-O-N-I-S-I-N-G-L-Y gone down, bit by bit, but it's done item by item (apples are "cheap") and cheese is still on the max-luxury list. I think there's enough market to make a small cheese-making operation viable but I'm no businessman. Since no one has done it, I guess there's a reason or three. .

Even half-decent, mostly tasteless cheddar rot (not mentioning any countries because New Zealanders are sensitive folk) is hellishly expensive because of import duty. I think a GOOD cheddar would fly off the shelves at that price. .

Sharks are not choking but they can NOT score, and will need a lot of luck to win in 7, let alone 6. They are way better than the Avs, but Anderson is sensational - he kicked out 51 the other night while the alleged "goalie" Nabakov just stood there while a ricky-ticky 17th deflected shot of the game that I could have stopped won it for the Avs. The Sharks are throwing everything but the kitchen sink and simply can't put it in the net. .

Because of the hits? Or because it ended in a tie? .

According to Snopes, this is an old and true story. http://www.snopes.com/photos/risque/kettle.asp .

Thai Tourism Free tourist visas until March 2011
joekicker replied to THE_DRUID's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
That consulate (like many around the world) is under an honorary consul -- NOT the Thai government directly. So they can do what they want, basically. A lot of honorary consuls, and I bet that rather infamous one in Hull is one, make their primary income from visa fees, so they are not thrilled when the fee is reduced or waived. A "real" consulate, they don't care specifically about the money. . -
So I guess this morning Chelsea have one fingernail gripping the title. No reason to basically clinch it against Spurs, provide a little drama, boys! .

That would be something like your pouring me more tea, i.e. impossible. .
