  1. Company name. Unless you're a Thai, your ownership is a fraud.
  2. I tried the Sunday carvery once. Just be sure you're hungry, because you the price is a lot if you're only going to eat a little bit.
  3. Nice pictures. Looks like a better place back then.

    Stud Wall

Sounds like a good deal to me.
  5. Surely you know Phuket doesn't have baht busses. That's one of its shortcomings. To solve that problem, I try to stay within walking distance of Bangla Road, and that isn't too hard to do. Problem solved.
  6. You guys that don't like Bangkok must live in some sort of alternate universe. Granted, it can be more expensive. Hotels can be a bit more. The girls, maybe. Then again, I've always found the girls in Bangkok to have excellent attitudes compared to the average Pattaya girl. I've never had a bad time in Bangkok. The additional cost for a week or so is well worth it. Same with Phuket. Most people on the Pattaya boards don't seem to like Phuket. They complain it's more expensive. But it's not, if you just bother to look around a little.
  7. In my experience, Tequila Reef can be hit or miss. Mostly, they go OK, but once in a while (depending on the cook, I think), they seem to get it wrong. Anyway, I still go there once in a while when I'm in town. At the right time of day, you can sit at a booth in the window and watch all the beer bar cuties come to work.
  8. One time, in Phuket, they came up with the idea of requiring all jet ski operators to have insurance policies for the jet skis. Any damage and they were supposed to turn in a claim to the insurance, not threaten the poor guy who rented the jet ski. Of course, that would mean no illegal profits for false damage claims, so I don't think that idea worked. It's best just to stay away from jet skis.
  9. They make them. Check out the specs on the American Buffalo. But why not just buy some Thai gold from a Thai gold shop? Don't they sell little bars?
  10. Amazon wants $7.99 for the E-Book. I guess I'll have to re-charge my Kindle.
  11. The way I look at it is this: I'd only buy a condo that's able to be registered in a foreign name. And I'd know from the beginning that I may never see my money again.
  12. The price seems fair. Maybe even too high...... Or, is Pattaya real estate moving faster than I thought?
  13. Gabor, I thought you already owned a condo....
  14. Removalist? I've never heard that word. At first, I thought it was some sort of a subset of Expat.
  15. Maybe you had the "Reply" window open too long? I'd copy the post, paste it into a new reply window, and try again.
  16. I've had breakfast there a few times and that was nice enough. As for staying there? How do you get in and out at night? After closing time? Etc. Maybe it all works out, but I'd be sure before handing over any money.
  17. I forgot to add, it only takes a day or two, once you have the required documents.
  18. I think that, on a retirement visa (O visa extend for purpose of retirement if obtained in Thailand?), there's no 90 day reporting requirement if you're out of the country. You'll have to come back to renew it every year, though. I think I'm going to do that myself next time I'm in Thailand - get another retirement visa and renew it once a year. That way, if they somehow change the requirements, I'll be grandfathered in.
  19. It's not like there's only one hotel in Pattaya. Just vote with your feet. Stay elsewhere and make sure you let Sandy Spring know why. Still, with all the inflation these days, it's easy to understand the rate increase.
  20. Keep in mind, an American doesn't necessarily need to have 800,000 baht in the bank. A monthly income of 65K will also work, as will some combination of money and monthly income. If a person uses the monthly income method, they obtain a statement from the US Embassy (you swear to making so much money per month in front of an Embassy official, and they sign off on it). In any event, immigration will also want to see a Thai bank account with some money in it, and you'll need a "letter" from the bank. Recent reports put the money in the bank amount at 100,000 baht, although I'm not sure abou
  21. I don't know anything about the cost, but there's at least one bar on Soi LK Metro that always seems to have some golf deal going on.
  22. Wouldn't it be almost as cheap to buy a new Netbook of some sort, or maybe a used laptop?
  23. If you're looking for a cable simply to download pics from your camera to a computer, you could always look for a USB memory card reader.
  24. Look and see if there's a "Wine Connection" place in Pattaya. They seem to have a good selection, and, if Phuket is any indication, they'll also have a good deli and restaurant attached.
  25. I eat there once in a while. The food is OK, considering it's a long way from Mexico. They also have a cute waitress on occasion.
