  1. You should never buy a golf club until you see how far you can throw it.
  2. I've no idea who Uncle Charley's was but TGC have been doing steak nights for at least 2 years to my knowledge. Originally started on Sundays and Wednesdays but they had so many people asking on Saturdays they started then as well. The owners have spent alot of time trying to get the food right and the beef is not the usual Thai steak but comes from a Thai/French cross herd up north I believe. Its not cheap but it is good quality (that applies to all their food). If your not happy see John - but make sure you're right!!
  3. I've always found Mr T's drivers to be on time and no hassle. Did you tell Mr T in your booking request where you were going - that could have sorted a load of problems. If there is a language problem that works both ways. Bear in mind that the same word in Thai can have 3 different meanings depending on how you say it so a falang word can mean nothing at all. Taxi drivers are not usually University Graduates and don't necessarily know English, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi or any of the dialects from Russia. The rate that bars and smaller businesses open up and close down yo
  4. I miss all bars that were on 2nd rd soi 9 - especially the Pussy Bar. . and that one - Toyz has one of the original Catz owners still there and I think it's getting back towards how it was. The Blues Factory - I know it's still there but I miss the barfinable girls - took some nice ones from there years ago
  5. Not an excuse - but I have found that to be the case anywhere I have eaten in Thailand - except the wholly 'western' run restaurants. The problem is that I think we in the west order and expect everything to be as it is at home and expect everything to arrive at the same time. Thai's don't eat like that and it seems odd when we expect to without warning them. The major difference between PBG and Thai run places is that you have a boss who wants to try and make sure things are put right when errors occor.
  6. As it's pissing down with rain and very cold here shall we go for all the old ones What do you tell a woman with 2 black eyes? Nothing she's been told twice already. What do you do when the wife comes into the lounge to tell you dinner's ready? Shorten her chain - what's she doing out of the kitchen. Women - definition An appliance used to carry sperm from the bedroom to the bathroom Whats the similarity between a woman and a hurricane? They are wet and warm when they come and take half your house when they leave Whats the similarity between a woman and a condom? When
  7. Along the same lines from the other side Dear Louis, Just a little note to remind you I am not fucking about. For every week the Twins remain on X Factor a member of Boyzone gets its Lots of love God
  8. That's very impressive - but how does he put them down??
  9. Theres nothing that wrong with the place other than being about 500 baht a night overpriced. I would stay there again but not at 1200 baht
  10. Haven't stayed for a while but there were no joiner fees - sometimes they took the girls ID sometimes they didn't. The place was built in the 60's (I believe) so is 'tired'. The staff were friendly and there's nothing particularly wrong with the place its just overpriced now for what it is. Try to avoid rooms near the pool as there's loads of mosquito's around it. There's a small restaurant 100 yds up the road called The Cool House - good food and good prices.
  11. Your recent threads haven't had many replies but I would like to reassure you that your reports are quality and I'm sure are enjoyed by all. Keep up the good work.
  12. If you play Emerald Ban Chang is about 10 mins away and on the road home. Eastern Star is out that way as well.
  13. Getting out of Pattayaland 2 - great news - its shite. Good luck in the new premises.
  14. I'd reiterate the above comments. Whilst I love the courses around Chiang Mai there are not that many. At the moment Pattaya is more competitive and therefore cheaper. It also depends on the type of golf you want to play - there are so many bars in Pattaya you have so much choice on which course to play in any week. If you just want to join a course and play there every week (as we do in England) then the choice is down to which course you want to join and that answers the question for you, whereas if you want to play different couses I don't think anywhere else has the number of b
  15. Your entry fee of 2,500 baht is all inclusive of: Green Fee Caddy Fee A buggy share Transport to and from the golf course The party and food All you have to pay for at the golf course is the caddy tip. Callum thats the best deal I have seen I'll be waiting outside your house in Berkshire to be picked up What time do you suggest?? You lucky b*******
  16. No recommendations for good deals unfortunately, but I would recommend - Highlands - the best course I have played - American Style all done with bunkers, water and slippery greens - Royal Chaing Mai - always in beautiful condition - more English parkland style but with coconut trees - Lamphun - carved out of the jungle and tricky - Thai style All three are different and all good I also understand that the Gassan courses are very good as is Santiburi at Chiang Rai but I haven't played them. Green Valley is good but the other 3 rate higher in my book. Lanna is ave

  18. Quite right Mr He -Tet It used to be more like enhanced economy and at £700 -800 was worth the money. They then decided to let you use the business lounges and up the price by £200 -300. If you are flying from the UK to Amsterdam that bit was always economy, not that much of an imposition as its only an hour or less, but not business. If you can't find anything else it's ok but I would suggest EVA elite/ evergreen is better value and the same size seats - newer planes as well. Don't get a window seat though as some of them have litle black boxes under the seat in front restri
  19. I would say there is a golden rule for anything Thailand If it's imported it's expensive. Mizuno's and Callaways are the same price if not higher than the UK - Wilson stuff generally more so. If it's cheap it's a copy. the rule seems to work well for Golf gear, cars, women, beer (Guiness, Strongbow etc) please add to the list
  20. Agree with you both - I found this place a few years ago when staying at the Nova Lodge - excellent food - and alot of thais seem toe at there during the day. Is that good???
  21. The Woodlands is a very nice hotel, foods good rooms are nice and probably worth its 4* rating. Its a bit away from Walking St but is on a baht bus route and within 10 mins walk of Big C. There are plenty of bars literally over the road from the hotel. I have stayed there twice as part of a package and had been told it wasn't guest friendly. However, I told the agent upfront I wasn't paying a joiner fee and I never paid one any time. I took many girls back as did my friends and only ever had one small problem because of what two of the girls were wearing - basically not alot. They
