  1. And it was a disaster from the pollution it churned out,I seem to remember the main complaint was the noise on take off.I read the Guardian so my complaint was about the environmental impact, not because I could not afford the price of a ticket you understand.
  2. KLM crew are the same if you fly cattle class.
  3. China air is a Taiwan airline not to be confused with a Chinese carrier.
  4. And disposable income falling,a collapse of the housing market forecast ( Telegraph independent) That's to show I don't only read and quote the grauniad.
  5. I was thinking about how much the pound will be worth when Brexit actually happens,be aware you may not be able to enjoy soi 6 if it's full of Brits on the piss getting 90 baht for a pound.
  6. I tried to check but it seems the site is busy, nothing on Skyscanner or my usual agent. Just downloaded the Skyscanner app and that shows a load of cheaper flights than just lookin on the online page, anybody used Tripsta or mytrip cheap but TripAdvisor complaints about luggage not included and shafted at the airport to check in luggage,
  7. The airports all want to expand, bigger planes? There are more airlines flying long haul than ever they must know something. The problem as I see it is a lot of destinations have already reached saturation level,Amsterdam,Venice has been sinking literally and metaphorically for years, even having built a new airport Bangkok struggles at times. I would think prices have bottomed out its all down to the price of oil and the world and individual countries economy's,Brexit may cause troubles for the UK travellers or the they live in a land of milk and honey with lots of cake under prime minister Boris.
  8. They used to call the ferry from khoa toa to Sihanoukville the vomit comet,I am OK (mostly) untill I smell the spew then I heave.
  9. I moved out of the Haven to sandy spring just after it opened,I was having breakfast outside in the Haven when the chambermaid shoved a bloodstained bedsheet under my nose and screamed at me that I had to pay 200 baht or something.i just packed and moved next-door.
  10. There's a marks and sparks in pattaya and a couple in Bangkok, some sort of franchise I think.
  11. Just look at it as part of your daily 10,000 steps,
  12. The train connects with the skytrain at phayathai station, you do have to hump your bags down a flight of stairs.
  13. The train works, the way it works is you just make sure your hotel is as close as possible to a skytrain stop, doing that makes sense anyway who needs to be walking after a night on the town.Getting a seat on the train at the airport in not usually a problem. That's why I take the airport bus from Jomtien and then the train to Sukhumvit and the skytrain to my hotel,as I hate taxis and the mini-bus it solves that problem and being cheaper that's a bonus, though if you have lots of heavy luggage and struggle with stairs a taxi is the best.
  14. I do that as routine,I have noticed lately that most complaints are directed at the sites that offer the lowest fares and it's about contacting customer service? seems it's non existent in some cases, the savings are just not worth it stick with companies that you know and can reasonably trust.and prices went up across the board overnight I guess they all use the same software.
  15. Penny wise pound foolish,
  16. On the EVA website they had a reduction of over 20euro,return Amsterdam/Bangkok about 580euro for Jan 18 March 1,and that's a bargain.I would normally grab it but will not commit myself till after the German elections in September to see what happens to the Euro.
  17. It happens every year it's the low season for Thailand, they don't like to send out planes half empty so they consolidate,if they have flights with only 100 bookings they cancell that flight and put them on the other half full flights.
  18. You have to understand I live near Schipol so that's where I will fly from,I prefer to fly direct so I have two choices EVA tue /thu/sat KLM fly seven days a week.the price I have just seen is actually 575euro not 584,the EVA flight leaving in January will be full there may be the odd empty seat on the return flight in March,if I wanted to have a stopover I am spoiled for choice Serbia air are offering flights for 495euro+,Turkish 516+budgetary.nl have the EVA fight for with booking fees for 575 and the Turkish flight for 516 with booking fees didn't check to see if they have a CC charge.flying on the 11January instead of 9 January saves 30 euro I think till January 10 is peak season for Thailand after that it's only high season. I did see a really cheap Turkish air flight from a Brussels airport but the out flight was 32 hours, also cheaper flights from some German airports.like I say the cheapest I have ever paid was 600 euro with China air the 575 from eva is seriously good and they won't get cheaper bearing in mind they only fly 3 Days a week.
  19. If I fly out 11 Jan return 8 March next year eva have flights 584euro that's the lowest I have ever seen for that time of the year.ams-bkk return. It's tempting but want to wait and see how my finances are and how the Euro stands, probably need to wait till the German electionson September 24.
  20. What do they charge during January-february high season? That's after the Christmas new year peak, the 600euro that I checked was jan9 to Feb 27.
  21. See the Euro is still on its downward spiral, 36.4 so I guess that's under 36 on the street down from 40.4 a year ago, might have done my last Thailand trip, don't really see how I can cut my budget anymore already staying in guest houses in Jomtien and only drinking hard once a week, walking Street is a distant memory.
  22. That's not true when I book with EVA the price they show is the price I pay,no booking fees or credit card surcharge,if I book through an agent I pay 30 euro booking fee plus CC fee about 10 euro.
  23. As I say only KLM does a daily flight to Bangkok from Schipol,(I live 25km from Schipol) EVA three times a week, I only want to travel direct, booking direct with EVA cuts out the booking costs a CC feesthat travel agents charge that will add up to 50 euro to the final tally, now then I feel ripped of. I normally book June July time and 600 is a good price.
  24. OK but I prefer to fly direct and book with the airline and 600 is as good as it gets, that's my experience of flying from Schipol to Bangkok over the last 25 years, you can get cheaper I think I saw aeroflop for 420E last year via Moscow, some of the ultra cheap flights have 20-30 hour time duration,When I go shopping for food I don't care about the price on the goods I look at the kilo price the same with flights I look at the duration.
  25. No they stopped the direct flights in September,if you book With them it's via Taipei.
