It depends, your stuff and you get scanned at the gate so you only really have to worry about passport control and be in the right Q and that can take between 5 -20 minuets +you have to get to the gate and that can take another 20 minuets [also the bars and restaurants become non smoking from July 1]. Its gods way of telling you to give up Take a calculator and punch in how much you spend every day on cigarette's ... A packet at 5 pounds a day x 365 = 1825 of your English pounds. Now how much pussy is that.

Stayed in Dynasty in january small smelly little room not nice crap food. Stayed in fortuna hotel soi5 great location but they upped the prices 500b in one go and no hot water half the time So i have booked a de-luxe room in nana for january good food though a bit pricey and you cant beat the buzz that is the nana, its sleazy. If impressing thai hookers is your thing then the nana is not for you but if you really dont give a toss what anybody thinks its great. Its for us who would rather wear a timex watch than a fake rolex and its a designer clothes free zone and long may it stay that way.

I took the 07:00 capitol bus to saigon well you transfer at the border to another bus this bus traveld at 10k an hour from the border to saigon. Do not believe anybody regarding travel times they may depart at the given time but the arrival time is anybodys guess. Beware of vietnam air if they dont have enough passengers they simply cancel the flight. So you might need to be in PP the day before and get a ticket as quick as you can. Give yourself time do not have a flight that you must catch you may have some small delays.

Suggestions, other than Sandy Springs for Soi 13
yselmike replied to Alfred's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Dynasty Stayed there this year its ok, internet was always down though, and they charged 500 to transfer to the dynasty in Bangkok. Its a bog standard hotel and great if you only monger like sleep and shag. Sandy spring. Stayed there when it first opend and really liked it moved to Areca lodge after 5 nights of hell when they started all the construction work on soi13. The suits seem to be two rooms connected with a small kitchen The rooms overlooking the pool have a good view and the rooms overlooking the soi can be a bit noisy if you like the window/door to the balcony open. Lek hotel not strictly soi 13 but the pool is again its ok the older rooms look a bit tatty but thats los for you The Haven stayed there once a few years ago mind the room was small and smelt moved to SS first oppotunity So,SS,Dynasty,Lek All about the same some good points some not so good I would stay in all of them for up to a week no problem long term not so sure. I like soi 13 for its location and I am out looking for a ST in TQ1 in the afternoon and walking street in between so I just shag ,SSS,sleep watch a bit of tv and thats it if thats ok with you stay in any of the three SS,dynasty, lek -
Charmed the staff then

That seems to be the deal. I have just checked Thai and bangkok air for the prices. Return bangkok-Phnom Phen both around 9500-9700 baht thats from 01-01-2008 return 28-01-2008. Air Asia only show prices till october 2007 so I will wait till they show and see if its worth it to go through passport control. thanx for the input.

onelilley I am the same as you I will have time to go through immagration and back again and if its a few thousand baht saving then I will do it. I have not heard about the one day rule before but maybe not thailand

Floyd I did e-mail air asia and got no reply.and that seems the norm with them cant speak for thai or bangkok air. had a swift reply from swiss air last year though. Cheshire tom. I fly from Amsterdam with KLM and then I go to the Thai transfer desk, Check in [you need the CC you booked with] with my E-ticket get my boarding pass hang around the 4 hours till the flight to Phnom Phen. I only have carrry on so no need to pick up any bags. Air asia is a lot cheaper and this time there is about 5 hours from the KLM flight landing and the other flights leaving. Thai/bangkok/asia all have there flights leaving at about the same time. I may just book with air asia and go through customs and back again as I may save 4-5000 baht and we all know what we can get with that cheers mike
-
As i understand it with air asia you have to go through immagration/passport control pick up your luggage as normal, then go to departurs check in ,go back through passport control. you are fucked if you only have a hour between flights. I booked Air Asia last year and found I had an hour till my flight to Phnom Phen so I e-mailed them not a reply,so I dont want to use them if I have to transfer. I will use Thai or Bangkokair but only if they have a transfer desk. and thai have one
-
I have booked a flight with KLM for the new year [dont] and will transfer to a Phnom Phen flight. I know and have used the Thai Air transfer desk and Air Asia does not have one, but is there a Bangkok Air transfer desk as I am not going to go back and forth through passport control.

I have just booked Amsterdam-Bangkok return with KLM [i live in amsterdam] depart 31-12-07 rtn 31-01-08 for 760 euro all in Thats the cheapest direct flight I will get, there are restrictions can not cancel or change dates, so have to take the flight. China air have flight for 1040euro add 25 booking/CC fees I flew with EVA last year same time 850 euro all in. So keep trawling the web sites that sell tickets and the airline pages and if you see a flight at an ok price grab it.

airport service charge
yselmike replied to stephentaylor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It depends when you brought your ticket. It is now up to the airlines to pay the tax so is in the price when you book your flight. Unless you booked your ticket some months ago as i did and had to pay at check in. I am not sure there are any booths anymore. -
Areca v. BJ Holiday Lodge v. Sandy Spring
yselmike replied to PB Chris's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
areca is a bit better than sandy spring but and its a big but soi13 is a great location. on the other hand staying in the areca lets you see another part of town if you want to walk a bit. you could stay in both
