I and big mike were maybe the first to recommend the sandy spring I stayed there just after it opend and wrote a glowing review{but it got lost when the board changed]. I first stayed in the chris guest house on soi 13 that is now the haven hotel, its always been my favourit place to stay and I have always recommended it. the last 2 times I have stayed there the sandy and the lek, it was a nightmare so untill the building work is finished I will keep saying do not stay on soi 13. UNTILL THE BUILDING WORK IS FINISHED. Thats my take on it so everybody can pay there money and make there choice. I will go back to soi 13 only when the work is finished, untill then I will stay and tell anybody who wants to listen to stay in the areca lodge on soi dianne inn. stay away from soi 13........ stay away from soi 13............. stay away from soi 13.............is that specific enough for you. ps I do not recommend the haven hotel

Attack other boardies............ get a grip of yourself man

its because every time we try to tell people that soi 13 at this time!! is a nightmare because of the building noise, people like you pop up with"its not so bad really"bollocks and we think "oh not again". Well my fine friend try sleeping in one of the cheaper sandy rooms overlooking the soi when the jackhammers and piledrivers are going. Try relaxing by the pool at lek hotel {that by the way faces soi13] when the jack.... Try having your window open in a room at the lek hotel when the jack..... but its not so bad maybe i am just a LIGHTSLEEPER oh sorry.

So I booked with swiss air out 6-12-05back30-1-06 total costs 943.97 euro could have booked with china direct for 50 more but I think that that flight is going to be jam packed If I left on boxing day it was 200 cheaper but I want to be eating fried rice on a beach somewhere on christmas day. So now where do I want to be, pattaya will be 2 much over christmas and new year, I really want a christmas free zone. Cambodia snooky, maybe or vietnam, hua hin will be full on christmas samui the same phuket 2 if anybody knows of a beach place that is christmas free or as free as it can be let me know please. Tom it seems that I fly out from zurich on thai # tg 971 on one of the e-mail confirmations and swiss #lx4300 not sure what all that means. mike

? for cheshire tom.I want to book for dec 19-05 to bkk return 6 feb-06. I live in amsterdam and normely fly china air but the prices I get are all starting at about 900 euro add tax and surcharge for this and that and agents charges its starting to look like 1200 euro return.what I was wondering was when do the airlines up there prices. What should I do, the best deal I see is with swiss air or fin air about 950 euro with taxs, that is with a stop over but thats no big deal.Should I book now or wait awhile or are there better deals from heathrow.thanxs for your time mike

the swimming pool and car park of the lek are on soi 13,right next to any work at the aa hotel.you guys never seem to want to hear that soi 13 is half a building site. sometimes its really noisy.if your room overlooks soi13 at lek/ss/aa/ma maison etc and there is any work going on you better not be a light sleeper

yselmike replied to thai style's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I stayed in areca last october, when I wanted to extend my stay for 3 days no joy fully booked its a popular place. moved to lek for 3 days not so good as areca and more exspensive. -
you may have to ask for membership when you check in they might not offer it first
-
areca lodge soi dianne.
-
I dont really remember the details but i had about 4 forms, first I paid a deposit recieved confirmation, then paid remainder recieved confirmatiom. Then another confirming deposit and full payment. Then E-voucher that you present to the hotel as long it shows you have paid and the dates that you want, you really should have no problems. sawadee seems a reputable company just relax and enjoy your trip.

I booked hotels on kho samui and the areca in pattaya via sawadee .com and they worked just fine no worrys.

I would add areca lodge to the list its as good as sandyspring without the building problems on soi13. avoid soi13 till they finish any building work.
