  1. i stayed at lamia inn and they wanted 4 days in advance pay by c/c.it was not direct to the hotel but to an angency of some sort,on a secure line so i paid and it was fine no problems i got my room.it seems to be more common on samui than elswhere.so its up to you over christmas and new year its needed to secure a room
  2. you have to get a pass for angkor so you need a passport photo, you get a daily or three day,or a weekpass pay in us dollars, you do need this.its a must see but its knackering.so take your time and you do need a guide, take your time about this you have to spend a lot of time with them.so you want one that speaks english or whatever that you can understand and no halitosis as i had it really makes for a long day. if i remember i paid 150 us 16 months ago,
  3. you fly to samui from the domestic terminal which is a 500metre walk from the internatinoil airport so no pasport controll but bangkok airways controll you three times.and no airport tax but 400 at samui when you leave.
  4. if a country requires a visa you have to have one or the airline will not let you board.most countries give you a visa on entry.but not all so you must get a visa india for example .or the UK try to take a tg to the uk without a visa see if she can check in.the airlines are resposibale and pay a fine.no probleme with thailand if your stay is for 30 days or less.if its for 60 days they might decide you need a visa seems odd though , 80 pound seems a lot unless its for a mutiple entry or a travel agents rip off

in cattle class you are a second class citizen.its eat your food and go to sleep and shut up.but for me the main hassle is the timeing.the flight leaves at 19:35 so i am hanging around allday.if you have a delay you can leave later so you arrive in bkk late afternoon, then take a limo to pattaya and you are totally knackerd. its not so bad if you want to stay in bkk,but you do suffer.china air or eva maximise your time .if time is no probleme or its better for your connexion, in cattle class china is best but there really is not a lot between them, its all down to the flight times
  6. the lamai inn[99? has bungalows for about 4to500 baht its quite laid back.you can book online, with your credit card, first 4 days deposit to pay,its as safe as it can be online.good clean but basic bungalows cold water. good restaurant.beach is great, thers no problem with noise,5 miniuts to the main road with lots of beerbars no gogos its not pattaya there are lots of fun girls no superstars.a few babes mixed in but you have to look around,if you want a beach holiday kho samui is as good as it gets.from 5star to no star.it get full in july and augaust, and of course christmas and new year when the prices go up.most of kho samui hotels have 2high seasons and 2 low seasons plus christmas and new year.stick it in google .kho samui is great

  10. i stayed at the haven for the second time 20 feb its cosy ok .great location, foods improved, staaf nice,i had no problem with other guessts mainly cos i had no connection ,dont play golf ,or ride a bike.if you play golf you will love this place.no controll of guests at night just a securaty guard so no problem to bring 2 bgs back i stayed in one of the lower rooms right by the pool had no probs with noise BUT my room was a bit small but it smelled musty and old and not good ,and the airco did not clear it my clothes in the wardrobe also started to smell not really nice,at 950 baht i reckon the owner needs to play less golf ,and take a bit more care of his buisness, there is a new hotel next door just opend i wrote a report for the hotel reviews about the sandy spring hotel submitted it but it did not appear???
  11. hi pat yes there are suites, the room next to mine cost about 1900baht i had a quick look it was still being finished off a big wraparound balcony, small kitchen area lounge, bedroom all looked a good size plus the bathroom had bath and separate shower cubicle sorry no photos.i stayed for the second time in the haven. location loation :) :) :) the room was on the ground floor it was very small, but the problem for me was that it smelled musty and damp, and the airco never cleared it even my clothes in the closet started to smell. i booked for 4nights you know how it is get pissed all gets a lot of hassle to look with hagovers etc etc the first time i stayed there i ate the worst meal in my life the full english it was so bad cooked in sump oil but the sportsman grill is 2 doors away also the first time i was the sat in the restaurant when one of the chambermaids shoved these bloodstained sheets under my nose IN THE RESTAURANT FOR FUCKS SAKE scraming 200 baht 200 baht i did not notice lucky i did not go down on her, but the rooms in sandy spring hotel are a good size mike
  12. have just stayed at one of the new hotels on soi 13 www.sandyspringhotel.com its just opend so every day new fixturs and fittings appear,i stayed in room 805 a good sized room very light and bright, big improvement on haven hotel next door.but thats another story.get a room with a sea view not sure if all rooms come with aview or not ,a big balcony with great views of the bay.ok air co,i will stay there again as i love the location ie soi 13. i walked in and asked the price of a room and was told 1250-1290 cant remember exactly but if you take out a membership??? with a one off payment of 350 baht the price is if i remember then goes down to 990 baht only pay with cash buy when they get up and running cc should be ok pros great location ok price wonderfull views great balconys nice staff no joiner fees did not try with 2 girls so cant say if its ok cons only one lift when when hotel is full i see long annoyed lines the beds seemed a bit on the short side no probs for me but maybe?? for you 6foot+ guys only bath with plastic shower hose they break down fast good water pressure but i really like a walk in shower i really like this hotel cos its new and clean and shiny mike

  18. the problem with schipol is that china and eva leave from the very end of pier d.so give your self time i've used china eva and klm the only 3 that fly direct from amsterdam.every time i fly econamy.the best service is china by a long way.klm and eva both want you to sit down shut up and DO NOT bother the cabin personell.eva is the worst they really let you know you are a cheap charlie.by flying in those cheap seats.on china you can get a drink almost any time klm is better than eva but not by much.
  19. panthip plaza is great. just do NOT go there at the weekends its a nightmare, lots of software, hardware prices seem to the same as here in holland
  20. i booked online in june bkk to samui paid with cc.tickets waiting at airport when i arrived,no problem.its exspensive but what the hell.its a one hour ten minuets flight the train is great if you are on a long trip, but taxi to station train ride ,taxi to ferry, taxi to hotel plus hassels.they will also arrange the flight times so you dont have to hang about the airport too long .the planes are two engine turbo props but my 4 flights have been smooth and on time .no problem if you want to stay longer any hotel or travel angent can arrange it cost 100 baht ,lamia inn99 book on line 400 baht right on the beach ,lots of bars restaurants etc 400 metrs away have fun
