That seems to be the deal. I have just checked Thai and bangkok air for the prices. Return bangkok-Phnom Phen both around 9500-9700 baht thats from 01-01-2008 return 28-01-2008. Air Asia only show prices till october 2007 so I will wait till they show and see if its worth it to go through passport control. thanx for the input.

onelilley I am the same as you I will have time to go through immagration and back again and if its a few thousand baht saving then I will do it. I have not heard about the one day rule before but maybe not thailand

Floyd I did e-mail air asia and got no reply.and that seems the norm with them cant speak for thai or bangkok air. had a swift reply from swiss air last year though. Cheshire tom. I fly from Amsterdam with KLM and then I go to the Thai transfer desk, Check in [you need the CC you booked with] with my E-ticket get my boarding pass hang around the 4 hours till the flight to Phnom Phen. I only have carrry on so no need to pick up any bags. Air asia is a lot cheaper and this time there is about 5 hours from the KLM flight landing and the other flights leaving. Thai/bangkok/asia all have there flights leaving at about the same time. I may just book with air asia and go through customs and back again as I may save 4-5000 baht and we all know what we can get with that cheers mike

As i understand it with air asia you have to go through immagration/passport control pick up your luggage as normal, then go to departurs check in ,go back through passport control. you are fucked if you only have a hour between flights. I booked Air Asia last year and found I had an hour till my flight to Phnom Phen so I e-mailed them not a reply,so I dont want to use them if I have to transfer. I will use Thai or Bangkokair but only if they have a transfer desk. and thai have one

I have booked a flight with KLM for the new year [dont] and will transfer to a Phnom Phen flight. I know and have used the Thai Air transfer desk and Air Asia does not have one, but is there a Bangkok Air transfer desk as I am not going to go back and forth through passport control.

I have just booked Amsterdam-Bangkok return with KLM [i live in amsterdam] depart 31-12-07 rtn 31-01-08 for 760 euro all in Thats the cheapest direct flight I will get, there are restrictions can not cancel or change dates, so have to take the flight. China air have flight for 1040euro add 25 booking/CC fees I flew with EVA last year same time 850 euro all in. So keep trawling the web sites that sell tickets and the airline pages and if you see a flight at an ok price grab it.

airport service charge
yselmike replied to stephentaylor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It depends when you brought your ticket. It is now up to the airlines to pay the tax so is in the price when you book your flight. Unless you booked your ticket some months ago as i did and had to pay at check in. I am not sure there are any booths anymore. -
Areca v. BJ Holiday Lodge v. Sandy Spring
yselmike replied to PB Chris's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
areca is a bit better than sandy spring but and its a big but soi13 is a great location. on the other hand staying in the areca lets you see another part of town if you want to walk a bit. you could stay in both -
no its just a once a year 3 day visit as i leave los on my annual vacation. I pretty much dont bother with thailand much the last couple of years. I fly into bkk as its the hub then direct to phnom pehn then down to snooky to chill out on the beach. I just like to party in bkk for a few days before i return to another 11 months of grind.
-
cheers for that but the location is the key, When i am in bkk i tend to bf 3 times a day so thats 12-1500 a day extra. better keep looking

As anybody stayed in the park hotel suk soi7 bangkok? and is it girl friendly there is one old review that says he was asked for 500cash for a guest but that might have been the night cashier trying it on. cheers

when I booked my flight in MARCH to leave anytime after christmas ,the best price I got was 699euro with EVA, KLM had the same price but it leaves 31 dec that was the best price.before or just after was a couple of 100 euro more. that price is before all the additions end price was 849 euro these flights are from amsterdam by the way. If you see a seat you better grab it fast.

Is this a problem for all destinations or only for flights to and from the UK and USA? I will fly EVA from Amsterdam to BKK in december and I only want to take handluggage, one bag about 8kg in total. I will then transfer to a Phnom Phen flight so I do not want my luggage on the carousele in bangkok, otherwise I have to go through passport control, get my bag and then go back through passport control it seems a bit odd. Can I get somebody from thai/bangkok/aisa air to get the bag from the carousele for me?

Where can I buy globes in Pattaya or Bangkok?
yselmike replied to jackcorbett's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Michael Palin takes a blow up globe with him on his travels, get a BG to pump it up for you before the geography lessons -
flew from AMS-Zurich-BKK had to present myself at the gate for a ticket passport check this happend at amsterdam and zurich on both legs. Tickets and passport controlled how long was I staying in thailand etc,it was painless but everybody was checked. "how long you stay Thailand" -"I am not going to Thailand I am flying straight on to Phnom Phen"-"Phnom Phen in Thailand?" .I was thrown by that a bit so I said "no in Laos" but that was OK they let me on.
-
why are you guys flying the union flag and not the english flag?
-
sorry that should read sandy spring has the best location
-
they are both good places to stay the areca has the better pools a small gym and a restaurant. the areca has a better location soi 13 is a great area to stay [as long as the construction is not too loud] I do find that if I stay at the areca I find my way to other parts of pattaya on soi 13 it can get a bit groundhog day. oh and lolitas is close to the areca. you have the time so try them both and it will break up your routine.

I have brought tickets on-line with thai and bangkok air both times i have been asked to show my credit card.they do make it clear when you order it that they want to see the card. I often use my CC to buy tickets for a couple of friends with the lowcost airlines here in europe and they have no problem. I have just got a ticket with EVA from amsterdam to bangkok on-line through an agency, for this I got an E-ticket nowhere does it say that i have to show my CC so we shall see maybe its only when you buy the ticket direct from the airline. but you better make sure the names on your passport and CC match

Areca Lodge and 2nd Road
yselmike replied to maxpower1971's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
you can always go the other way to soi bukalouw[sp] and take the bahtbus. one way is to south pattaya road the other way to central pattaya road, there are not so many BBs as on second road and you have a short walk at either end. And you get to see another part of pattaya.
