  1. Unusual activity on Soi 7. Instead of tearing a bar down, they're putting up a new roof. Putting the finishing touches on the new footpath in New Plaza. Also Natalie's Bar on the left was livestreaming this morning. Probably to capture the customer base on the other side of the planet.
  2. It sounds like you're risk adverse, so even having a room as you described, you're still engaging in a higher risk activity given the close proximity of the masseuse. There's also the matter of the massage table itself as a possible transmission vector. One would hope they wipe down the bed between uses, but unless you're there to witness, who knows what viruses still lurk on the surface.
  3. Your first characteristic "fresh air circulating from outside to where customers are" makes it sound like you're looking for a place with an open front and good ventilation. Off the top of my head I can't think of any places that would meet that criteria, especially in this tropical climate where A/C is a must for your comfort and the lady giving the massage. As for a good place to go for a good massage that is decently fitted out, I would recommend Tum massage on Soi 15 off of Buakhao. My go to lady, Katae, isn't the prettiest, but her massage skills are better than most every other lady I've tried around Pattaya.
  4. Mornings this time of year it's long sleeves and socks for me.
  5. Industrial estates where the manufacturing process produces airborne pollutants, plus vehicle emissions.
  6. Not the smartest thing I ever did, going out on a bike ride and breathing in the shit that's in the air now. Current AQI is 169.
  7. Filming a Honda commercial on 3rd Rd this morning. Protecting the principals in the commercial from harmful sunlight. This is what the current AQI of 169 looks like. Somewhere in the haze is the Pattaya City sign. Big crane at the pumping station to remove an old piece of equipment.
  8. Hardly any burning taking place right now, so that's not the source. This is good site (link) to view the current burning situation. What I think is happening is a combination of an inversion layer and photochemical smog.
  9. Not looking good for today.
  10. Thought the air looked pretty hazy on this morning's ride.
  11. A few pics of two of the stages for this week's music festival. This one across from Soi Sex. The next shots are the stage at the Klang intersection. They were doing a sound check while I was there and got a close up shot of the the volume control. I think standing around the entrance to WS would make the volume level just about tolerable. Mobile cell tower is connected and ready to go. Although the electric source is a bit dodgy. You won't have far to go to off load the beer you rented. Farther a field, if your house is in need of more glassware Malibu Club is running a promo on glasses.
  12. Snapped a couple of photos on my ride this morning of the place you asked about. It would be worth consideration if you're content to live in an area pretty much devoid of foot traffic, and only a few neighbors. BTW, only saw two soi dogs on my ride past. One was roaming around and paid no attention to me. The other was chilling out here... Close by is this relatively new place at the entrance to the above soi. For a place with a pool and reasonable rents, The Village across from the the fire dept and hospital on 3rd Rd. is worth a look.
  13. Nope, wasn't me. I don't get rolling, figuratively and literally until mid-morning. Which is right about now. So heading out shortly for my morning ride about.
  14. Expats now have a new grocery store to shop at, Nadia's Expat Essentials. ttps://www.google.co.th/maps/place/Nadia's+Expat+Essentials/@12.9275676,100.889684,17.75z/data=!4m12!1m6!3m5!1s0x31029550d05ddc31:0x53d6c046715143ba!2sNadia's+Expat+Essentials!8m2!3d12.9280322!4d100.8904098!3m4!1s0x31029550d05ddc31:0x53d6c046715143ba!8m2!3d12.9280322!4d100.8904098?hl=en
  15. Yes, you must carry an IDP and your home country's license to legally drive/ride in Thailand. And if riding a motorbike, your home country's license must have a motorcycle endorsement.
  16. Music stage going up for this weekend's music festival.
  17. More centerpiece structures going up at the entrance to the Xzyte market.
  18. There was some good discussion on PA about e-bikes. What I gathered from that discussion is a decent enough e-bike, with good range and adequate sized motor starts at around 30k THB and up.
  19. Unfortunately it's mostly gathering dust. My lady, who approved the purchase as an early b'day present for her rarely, like almost never uses it. Not because there's anything wrong with the bike, or that's she's uncomfortable riding it, but because a neighbor friend is almost daily stopping by on her motorbike to take my lady shopping. The wheel size if fine, but it lacks an appropriate suspension for the weight of the bike. The result is you feel every bump in the road, and you really have to slow down when going over speed bumps. There's also a bit of instability on turns because of the short wheel base. If I were going to purchase an e-bike for myself, I'd opt for a mtn bike sized bike.
  20. Soi Pothole update. Repairs in the middle section. But the lower end still looking ruff. Across from T21 weeds have replaced customers. And on Beach Rd, a mobile 4G mind control device.
  21. Nirun Market retractable roof in the close position today. What was J Club is about set to reopen as Amsterdam Lounge. Soi Xzyte market They're now working on rewiring the other side of New Plaza. Wiring completed on the other side, with new lighting for the soi. Wonder if the light poles will hold up to drunks stumbling into them. Also, looks like Pussy Bar succumbed to the virus. Fireworks barge is locked and loaded for tomorrow and Saturday's firework show. New building on 3rd Rd near Klang is getting a bit of green.
  22. A lot of haze in the air this afternoon. Not a good day to be exercising outdoors.
  23. Anti-vagrant shutters now on both ends of Pook Plaza. The defunct Blue Rahtree Bar Complex is also sporting new metal fencing to keep the homeless out.
  24. Beach erosion update after the high northerly winds this week. Most of the beach looks fine with only moderate erosion on about 700m of the south end. They've given up on using the debris strainers. Sluice gate repairs look like they're holding ok for now.
