Easy R-Con open sewer project update. Top of the left side looks like it might end up flush with Buakhao road surface, but the right side is looking a bit too high. If you extend the sight line out from the top of the concrete form you get an idea how far back on the soi they'll have to backfill to make the road surface level with the top of the box. It looks like if they do raise the road surface it's going to negatively impact a few shop entrances.

It's painful to watch the recent fall in the USD, but that pain is somewhat mitigated by climb in value of my investment portfolio. As you posted, the low dollar is good for business. Hopefully my realized gains when I do sell for living expenses will more than offset the increasingly poor exchange rate.

Today's update of the Easy R-Con open sewer project. Installing rebar for the cap. Last night saw the owners of the R-Con bars so asked them about the project. Original completion date was supposed to have been May 22nd. Early on in the project they knew the timeline wasn't feasible as they didn't have the proper equipment for the job. What was most interesting is they said the plan is to fill the soi in to bring it level with the top of the box. Looking at the pic below I suppose they can get away with doing that as it looks like the floor of the building in the background will be slightly above the new grade.

Easy R-Con open sewer update as of this morning. Edited to add: I'm now wondering, given the height of the box, if the plan isn't to close off this end of the soi to traffic and allow only foot traffic either side of the box. Keep in mind this soi would still have vehicle access on both sides via soi 13 and 19. Might make for a nice addition to the soi if they plant a garden on top of the box.

I knew one BG several years ago that owned a car. Problem was she couldn't afford the loan payment and monthly rent, so she lived in her car. Seriously screwed up sense of priorities.

And when the soi floods it'll be a great waterski jump. Just thought of another idea for some enterprising Thai during the floods, rent paddle boards.

A BM on another forum made a comment about the height of the box relative to the road height. I was at Easy R-Con last night so snapped another pic from the other end. Once they put the cap on the box and bring the road grade up to that level, the new top of the road is going to be higher than the base of the shop on the right. It'll be interesting to see the finished product and its impact on the surrounding businesses after the first heavy rain.

Another update for the Easy R-Con open sewer project. I couldn't see it when the forms were in place, but there are outflows from the concrete box. Best guess now is the box is going to serve as a settling area for all the muck that gets washed down from farther upstream. Easier to clean the muck out in one place rather than the length of the storm sewers.

Now I'm really confused as to which is the original.

While sitting at Billabong a while ago noticed the cat wandering around. He/she made the mistake though of wandering into Time Bar only to be chased out by some guy with a stick. Obviously not a cat lover.

One day short of a week since they had the forms in and the concrete truck shows up. To my uneducated eye it seems odd they would start the concrete pour at the end of the form rather than in the middle. Not easy to see in the pic below but there's a "hill" in the concrete about a 1/3 of the way down which is preventing the new concrete from flowing to the farthest end. Wonder if any of the workers will notice before they send the truck away. I'm also wondering what they hope to accomplish with this project, other than lining someone's pocket. It's basically a big box with a storm water drain entering at one end, but no discernable outflow at the other end. If they intend to install a pump, where are they going to pump the water to?

What's strange about the drilling they did is in some spots, after drilling they dug a trench in its place. My inexperienced guess is it would have been more expedient to just dig a trench rather than messing around with drilling. The one exception is across the 2nd Rd, Klang intersection, which is what they have done and as a result there was minimal traffic disruption. I didn't snap a pic, but did notice today they were feeding rope through the underground conduits in the part under the intersection. They'll then use the rope to pull the cable through. As @Bob Belzy posted, they'll have to first have all the underground cables in place before they can make the switchover. Once that's done the overhead cables can come down. While the reports I read only mentioned power cables going underground, hopefully that's just a bad translation and the utilities will also go underground as well.

Easy R-Con open sewer, never ending project update. Concrete forms going in, so probably another week before they get around to pouring concrete. On a side note: Grabbed a bite to eat at Easy R-Con yesterday evening when I heard the pumps kick in. Short time later I was getting good whiffs of the stench from the open sewer. Enough so I had to move to the far side of the bar for fresh air. Over on 2nd Rd we see typical Thai lack of forethought at work. The trench that was dug to bury the overhead cables was filled in, then cemented over. But now they're back, breaking up the concrete cover to gain access to something they forgot to do.

Easy R-Con, slow going open sewer project. They are certainly taking their sweet time completing this project. On the 14th I snapped a pic of concrete forms going in on the rear half. Yesterday I noticed a cement truck on site, so a little more than a week to get around to the cement pour. Today, not exactly a beehive of activity.

Beach Rd palm trees are getting wrapped in decorative LED strip lighting.  Excavators onsite repairing damage from Wednesday morning's storm. They better not go too far as the next storm is on the horizon.

Easy R-Con open sewer concrete forms going in.

Council estates are British public housing. I lived in Nirum for 2 1/2 years. Only reason I moved was I wanted something with move living space, but for those that are happy with smaller living space and low rent prices Nirun is a fine choice. And as for the comment "I would be looking over my shoulder constantly at 2am for sure", I call BS on that. Never once felt threatened walking around Nirun no matter what the time of day.

There's a big project underway to move the overhead electric underground. https://news.lovepattayathailand.com/local/work-begin-burying-electrical-cables-pattaya-february-19/ When they start work on Buakhao it's really going to make a mess of the traffic on that soi. Hopefully they do the smart thing and make Buakhao one way until the work is done. Better still, leave it one way after the project is done.

Easy R-Con open sewer progress as of this morning. 2nd Rd work to move overhead cables underground. Still working on the footings at the construction site on 3rd Rd near Klang. No word on what's going in at the now closed M-Club, but they're doing a lot of work on the site.

Work continues on the Easy R-Con open sewer. Looks like they're doing this in stages. Section closest to Buakhao is now filled in and now they've dug out the next section.
