  1. I am guessing you will have to pay the difference in fare.
  2. I checked the cost of my up coming thai airways flight from LHR in July and the price is £1350 for a return ticket. I paid £520 for same flight.
  3. You would be best using a booking site like agoda and input the dates you want to see if there is availability.
  4. I hope so, because I will be flying on it in July ?
  5. Thai will be flying their brand new B777-300 on TG911 from Heathrow when it comes into service in the next month or 2.
  6. I hope you wasn't driving a convertible.
  7. So check left and right. Then double check and then triple check.
  8. Yep that was something I was thinking about. I am lucky to see one bike on the roads in the UK and that is normally a 500cc blasting 100 mph down the motorway. My plan is do drive mostly at daytime and avoid driving at night.
  9. Thanks for the tips. The quality of the roads sound like my local roads, so they shouldn't be a problem. I will be renting the car from budget thailand as I will be collecting it at the airport. When I did my research there seems to be a lot of rental companies in udon thani both international and local companies.
  10. All you need is to have your wits about you and constantly check the mirrors and look left. My journeys when in udon thani will most likely be travelling on the highway and the odd dash around udon city. Another thing will have to get use to is driving an automatic car. I have never driven one and I assume its a lot simpler to drive. Just have to get use to neutral, park, drive and reverse.
  11. So if I am on the roundabout, I would have to give way to someone that wants to join on it? I watched a video on YouTube and the "Youtuber" did say that when on a motorway you have to look out to left and if a car or truck via into your lane from the left and hits you. You are to blame.
  12. Thanks for the tip. I think it would be nice to drive long distances like pattaya to udon and make several stops on the way. If I had longer time there it would certainly be something that would do.
  13. I will be taking out extra insurance and also hiring additional extras like a dash cam. I have visited that place in ban chiang several years ago. It was a interesting place.
  14. On my next trip to Thailand in July. I am going to visit Udon Thani for 1 week. I have made a car hire reservation for the week. I have never drove a car in Thailand. The only advantage that I have is the UK and Thailand drive on the same side of the road. My question is, is there any rules that I need to know while driving in Thailand. One thing I frequently see is drivers turning left while the lights are on red. Any other hints and tips that can be shared will be a appreciated
  15. The airfares for MEA certainly have gone up in price. I am travelling in July and usually fly with Emirates or etihad. Their prices for the dates I fly are over £900 return and the flight times are that good either. I decided to book a BA flight from MAN to LHR and then booked thai airways. Paid £630 return and have great flight times. The only downfall to the bookings is if I miss the BA flight or the Thai flight is late then I have to come up with a plan B.
  16. I was surprised thai never had a code share with flybe when they was operating. They do have code share flights with luftansa, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels and SAS from MAN. But they always seems to expensive compared to MEA in normal times and the flight times.
  17. I did look into a combination of air france/Klm about a month ago the price was cheap. The only thing that put me off was the 23.59 return flight time with KLM. The price as since sky rocketed.
  18. I took the potential for the BA flight to be late so I booked the 7am flight. My connecting flight isn't until 12.30.
  19. I have booked Thai Airways for my flight in July from London. I have booked direct with the airline and used a CC for added protection. I usually fly from Manchester with a ME airline, but at the moment there doest seem to be any decent flights from Manchester with any airline (except Qatar but I will never but myself through a stint on one of their B787-8 again). I still am starting my journey from Manchester as I have booked BA to get to me to Heathrow. Under normal circumstances I would never book two separate tickets, but thought it would be easier to fly to Heathrow than rely on
  20. BA have had technical issues today and cancelled most of their short haul flights. There are denying that they have been hacked.
  21. It appears from reports online that BA have cancelled all direct flights on their LHR-BKK route. https://www.ttrweekly.com/site/2021/12/british-airways-ditches-thailand-flights/
  22. Usually airlines like Emirates will have a code share with a local airline like Bangkok Air, were the ticket will get you from beginning to end destination without having to check in again.
  23. I agree avoiding that dredded AVOD box is very important. But the problem with Qatar's B777-8 was not just the pitch of the seat, its also the width. It ranges from 16.89 inches to 17.28 inches. I must of sat in the 16.89 inch seat. I can still feel the passengers elbow that sat next to me digging into the side of my body.
  24. I have noticed when searching December flights from MAN that qatar seem to be using the 777 on the DOH-MAN. From reviews I have read the 787-9 as the same economy pitch and width as the 787-8.
  25. I might consider using Qatar again if they change the aircraft to the A380. I have been on self imposed ban on using Qatar due to the bad experience of having to sit on their 787-8 for 7 hours on the MAN-DOH/DOH-MAN legs.
