  1. I don't think THAI tickets are worth much more. Their Economy cabin is 'bog standard'. Talk about, 'no frills'. Of course, it's all academic and just my opinion. ::) I guess they know that you lot are going to travel regardless...
  2. If you going to do Bkk- Samui - U Tapao(Pattaya), get yourself a free side trip by getting a Discovery Airpass. Bkk_Samui(3550 baht) Samui-U Tapao(2500 baht) Total excluding taxes, 6050 baht. Discovery Airpass US$50(2090 baht) per coupon. min 3 coupons. So Bkk-Phuket-Samui-U Tapao would set you back 6270 baht excluding taxes. Bkk- Hua Hin - Samui - U Tapao, the same. http://www.bangkokair.com/airpass.htm
  3. I've only done it the other way. Samui to U Tapao(Pattaya) There is a bus that meets the 'plane and drops you off at your hotel for 150 baht. Your other way transportation depends on whether you are starting your journey in Bkk or Pty. I'm assuming Pty as travelling from Bkk to Pty airport to save some baht would be a tremendous waste of time. It would add 2-3 hours to your journey for a saving of 1000 baht. From Pattaya, there should be no problem grabbing a taxi to take you to U Tapao airport, though I imagine they would charge you 300 baht for the privilege. Samui to U Tapao
  4. Why, pray tell me, is it a 'pain in the arse' booking via the website? I just did a sample booking and it took me seconds. I've used that route to leave Samui, though I'm not sure what the benefits would be, if you were starting in Bkk. http://203.154.168.55/birts/plantrip.aspx
  5. There's a wide range of accommodation on Samui. I stay in a bungalow a few metres from the beach and pay between 500 and 750 nightly depending on the season and length of stay. Minibus from the airport is 100 baht. Buy the ticket at the airport desk. 50 baht on a songthaew to the airport. My resort has a taxi service for 100 baht. BTW Papillon, you could have got a refund on the Pattaya ticket and then bought the Bkk ticket. Though of course Bkk tickets are 1000 baht more(?) Good idea to stay one more night. http://www.bangkokair.com/ http://203.154.168.55/birts/plant
  6. Current inclusive prices for upcoming period; Aeroflot £350, Finnair £383, EVA £408/£428, Thai £412...

  9. Gus, think about getting a cheap one way ticket out and then a one year 'open' return back. That way you can pop out again whenever, without having to worry about peak rate fares. Works for me.
  10. Sometimes flying from a nearby country, France or the Netherlands works out cheaper. Think u may have left it a little late though.... http://online.atp.nl/tc.dll?ac=return&tid=emotion1 http://www.airfair.nl/vlieg-f.html http://www.anyway.com/general/home.asp?USR...-9RUTVH4R-0-DIV
  11. Have updated the info on the original post to include the new HappyDprompt product. A good product, in my opinion. http://www.happydprompt.com/en/index.html
  12. Recently informed by DTAC that they do not support the disabling of 'own number sending'.
  13. With a Nokia mobile: you can go to 'call settings' via the menu and change the setting for 'own number setting' from 'preset' to 'off'. Test it first, by calling a 'friendly' mobile number.
  14. How 'bout you look at the website? http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/
  15. Sorry about that. I bought a couple at around 6am on the 9th, there was good availability then. I went back on the site 3 hours later and it was groaning under the weight.
  16. I think they were selling 15000 seats at these discounted prices worldwide. ie LHR - SIN R/T £170 Sale started on the 9th of June and continues until the 12th of June, for departures up until the 31st of August. Your best bet is to call a travel agent or try Singapore Airlines directly to check on what dates are left at that price. http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/app/saa?hi...ffices¤tSite=au
  17. I didn't post this earlier as I though some else would. :) £212.90 including taxes. Booking period 9th - 12th June Departures 9th June - 31st August http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/app/saa If no joy there, try; http://www.leestravel.com/offers.htm Suggestions? Coupled with a Bangkok Airways Discovery Airpass, you could do Singapore - Samui - U- Tapao(Pattaya) Bkk- Samui - Singapore for £172 inc extra. You could also factor Phuket in there for another £30. Or you could do a straight Bkk flight from Singapore for as little as £90 return(Biman Bangladesh)
  18. That would be the Siam Bayshore; http://www.siamhotels.com/sbs.html If you're staying for a longer time; http://www.residencelafontaine.com/english1.htm If on a budget; Sangkaew Beach Hotel Walking Street +6638 428085 +6638 422369

  20. What's your sister doing hanging around in Dubai for so long? :) It's true, my only experience with TIC Travel was that she offered me by far the best price for the airline that I wanted and the ticket was ready when it was supposed to be. In fact, I think the ticket was sourced from the second agency, KN, that I've posted. Another agency, Malee Travel, next to the Universe Gym, quoted me 2000 baht more, for the same ticket. He wasn't even willing to budge from that price. I don't care how good his service was going to be, it wasn't worth that much more. I'm quite happy to
  21. What sort of prices are you paying? At TIC they quoted me 1000 baht less than EVERY Bkk agent I called and as little as 2000 baht less than some Pattaya agents for my favourite airline. Mind you, I tend to buy 1 year tickets.
  22. Bwahahahahahaha! Don't you worry, they'll find you. ;D Of course you are not speaking of anything untoward? We don't do that here. Is it the http://www.roofgardeninn.com/ that you're staying at? Looks like a nice place. It's a little west of centre. For the closest sanuk area, head back, east along Thappraya Rd. Jump off at the VC Hotel. In that vicinity, there will be two or three 'discos'. If that's not your scene, carry on until Soi 8. There you will find at least one hundred beer bars in the immediate vicinity, where you can relax with a quiet drink. You will be able to
