I spent 12 nights at this three month old guesthouse this September, and what a nice find this little place is. Fellow boardies Emil and OnMyWay turned me on to this little gem which is located two doors south of Lolita's blowey bar. For those of you who may be new or have not had the pipes cleaned at Lolita's here is the best direction I can give to get you to Lilo Lils. Assume you are standing in front of Mike's Shopping Mall on Second Road looking east. The soi that runs east and from that point is called Soi Diana. Follow Soi Diana about 300 metres east until you come to an intersection. On that corner is a real estate firm, and directly ahead would be a mini mart. The soi that bisects these two businesses(and running north only) is Soi L. K. Metro. Just glance to your left and you will see the Lilo Lils sign and the Lolita's signs which are well elevated and easily seen from the intersection of Diana and L.K. Metro. The owner is a nice Brit named Chris; the day mamasan/employee is a lovely lady name of Wan who runs things from 7:00 am until 6pm when she leaves. I had room #1 which was all I needed: great aircon, ceiling fan, in room safety box, plenty of hot water for showers, tv suspended from the ceiling for easy channel surfing from the bed, and dvd player w/remote as well. This room is 400 baht , a steal at that price IMHO. There are also some larger rooms for 600 baht that I also checked out. One had two double beds, and the other had one big bed and furniture. Both larger rooms had a microwave and the bathroom was larger as well. You get two clean towels each day and linens are changed twice each week. I am sure that you could get daily linen changes for a price, but I did not inquire as all my women never spill a drop. ha There are also 5 or 6 ladies who live on premises who work the bar at night, and I found a lovely little performer there with whom I spent 6 days and had a great GFE. There are several other very similiar guest houses on the soi including the ThaiArcher where fellow boardies Mats and KJVegas stayed. They paid 600 I believe and the accomodations were pretty mutt same same as mine. The Cock and Bull guest house is down at the north end of the soi and that place looked very nice indeed. Several resonable laundries are within a stones throw of this soi, and there is a lovely internet cafe right next door to Lilo Lils too. The Planet restaurant across from the guest house serves up passable pizza and you can get a coupon from Wan for 50% off which brings the cost for a pepperoni and cheese pie to a respectable 75 baht.( Big D, you might like to check this out. ) There are several beer bars on Soi Diana and one gogo on L.K. Metro which employs one dancer I would have loved to have done but I was already "loved up" as my crazy Brit friend Barry would say. Here is the number of Lilo Lils: 06-8439267 Here is the number of owner Chris: 07-1283965 This place should be checked out for sure if you want nice, clean, affordable lodgings. Rgds, Jimmybb

This is definitely a hotel on the decline, but every hotel in the Sukhumvit area in the 1000 baht range where I've stayed was in similiar shape. I love the location but will look elsewhere in the future. You should have seen the look on the desk clerk when OnMyWay, Soi 7 and I tried to get on the elevator at the same time!!!! If the cables would have given way each of us would now be 4 foot 5 inches tall. Jimmybb

Mr. tengotodo, Let's put his thing into proper perspective regarding cockroaches. Some of the very boardies that will condemn the Nana for a few roaches are the same guys that will munch the carpet on a BKK pole-hanger!!! (of course I would NEVER do something like that) I stayed at the Nana and the only roach I saw was the one Soi 7 mentioned in the previous post. Go and stay there as a LOS "right of passage," then graduate to better digs on future stays in BKK. Rgds, James

What is your problem dude???? There is simply NO walk of shame in all of LOS. You want a walk of shame? Try leaving any bar in West Allis, Wisconsin with a 250 pound tootsie with legs like a 1933 Brunswick pool table, tattoos on every available sq. inch of skin, and a face that only a mother could love. Then run into some guy with whom you work and see how you are treated thereafter. Now that is shameful. Go have a good time and fuck the critics!!! Rgds, Jimmy

Under 700 baht/night hotels
Jimmybb replied to terrybollea's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Well the last thing I want to see walking past my hotel is a bevy of skank Russian hos. Jimmy -
Good luck with NWA guys, but despite what this dreadful carrier says, I believe this strike will be one of the final nails in their coffin. The management sold off all the shares that they could long before the strike was even a whisper, and I think this walk-out will cause passengers more than a modicum of grief. Maybe they will go belly and more efficient carriers like Jet Blue and Southwest can take up the slack. At least no frills airlines warn in advance that you will be treated like cattle, something that NWA waits to spring on unsuspecting passengers until check in. Just my 2 baht worth. Jimmy

I am sure Northwest Airlines won in the category of "most nasty flight attendants." James
-
Yes, NWA can stew in their own juices. Not only are their prices to Asia consistently higher than other carriers, the staff and flight attendants are just plain surly. Add that to late flights, equipment and maintenance problems, and trouble re-deeming freq flier miles, this carrier gets what it deserves. Hub is correct, the sooner this company enters chapter 13 or 7-the better. Finally, for those of you who want to live on the edge, take the Minneapolis-Amsterdam flight aboard an ancient DC-10. You may be asked to go to the rear of the aircraft to re-wind the big rubber band that motivates this plane. Jimmy

Sounds like you are having a bit of a PPA. (Pattaya Panic Attack) Don't be too alarmed-lots of us have had them from time to time. That said, I would wait a while and see just how much of an impact the $60 oil prices have on Asian air traffic as we approach autumn. If there are lots of fliers put off by the current high cost of tickets, maybe ticket sales will be down forcing the carriers to lower prices to get seats sold. As regards Northwest, I have simply given up on this carrier. After going to their website daily for several months searching for not only a ticket to BKK, but an affordable flight to LAX as well, I have given up. This carrier is now just too costly and my business will go elsewhere. I waited to book my next trip to Manila, and was rewarded with a great rate on Cathay. Maybe you will have similiar luck waiting and searching for a good buy. Just a thought. Rgds, Jimmy

ileaving pattaya for home 24 September, sorry to miss you. Jimmy

Regarding attitudes of bar girls, whilst I have only had one trip to Angeles City this past March, my opinion is that the girls are far and away better shags than what LOS has to offer. Sure, you cannot beat THailand for all there is to do-sightseeing, shopping etc., but the service I got in the PHilippines makes each trip to Asia now include one week in either Angeles or somewhwere else in PI. Good stuff. Jimmy

President Solitaire Jerk Job!!
Jimmybb replied to Jimmybb's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Well, the one I dragged in there with the third eye did get a few looks by the staff. Jimmy -
Feature this: I send an email inquiring of availability for dates on my September holiday. I get a response telling me that there are 3 size rooms available which describes the sq. meter of each and the price. So I email back that I want the room that is 2900 baht, the same size room I had on my last stay in March. Then I get another email telling me that yes, I can have the room but that September is "high season," and now the price will be 32oo baht per night. Well, I have been to LOS several times in September and this time was never remotely considered high season. This hotel will not be getting my business. I am just wondering if anyone else got jobbed by this hotel group. Rgds, Jimmy

HOLY SCHNIEKES, my UK brothers..... Manchester United bought out by a Yank????????? Has the planet gone wrong,...or what. Can my right good UK footie men enlighten this poor Yank as to how this could happen? Has the whole of the UK gone mad permitting an owner of one of the US's National Football Leagues teams to purchase a controling interest in as sacred an endeavour as soccer in Europe? If indeed this is as sacred a sport as I have been told ad nauseum by all my UK boardies, how could letting a Yank with borrowed cash, putting this team in debt, and simultaneously pissing off the entire isle have been allowed to happen??????? Baz, Winston, Tab, Carlsberg, et al., please explain how this can possibly be. Now you may all begin to understand how we elected G-Dub to not only one but two terms, and equally ken just how fucked up this planet apparently really is!!!! Help me on this, my brothers. Rgds, Jimmy

Am I the only boardie who daily surfs numerous web sites when planning another LOS foray only to get pissed off when fares are so fucking high as to defy logic????? I am currently looking for a ticket for this September coming. Accordingly, I look at Northwest Airlines(the only carrier who can get me from my home to BKK), mobissimo, kayak, travelocity, expedia, orbitz, sidestep, angel travel in Chicago, not to mention web sites of specific airlines that service Don Muang as well. Don't get me wrong-I have no problem with airlines making a profit. Hell, I want a qualified, sober, competent guy in the cockpit that can get the big aluminum tube from point A to point B and back again. I am also keenly aware of the current prices of jet fuel and take into account this huge factor in pricing airfares. Now, considering that this site alone has almost 7,000 members of whom, one would surmise, maybe 20% have been or would seriously consider a trip to LOS, is this next question pure folly? Would it be remotely possible for a large group of punters to be able to coordinate their LOS holiday to make viable the idea of chartering an airplane from either coast in the US with BKK being the destination?????(I am sure most reading this will flatly say "no way," but the question, IMHO, begs asking) Why not? I will admit that I know squat about how airlines price their seats, but one thing of which I am keenly aware is the daily variance of seat costs throughout this industry. The airline industry I would assume would love to have a full 747 wisking away happy punters to BKK. Are there any boardies who have inside knowledge of how the industry works charters, and if so, could you please impart such knowledge in this forum? If this idea has merit, my fellow boardies from England, I would assume, have an even greater chance for success then us Yanks. I would like to hear from those who would be interested in investigating this idea further. Rgds, Jimmy

any 5 star all inclusive in pattaya ?
Jimmybb replied to darbs's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I can just imagine a scene like this: the fellow gets married in Pattaya, the lads pop the champagne corks, and whilst the bride makes the rounds at the reception glad-handing those in attendance, the groom is in the back of the limo getting a short time-and of course he gets busted! Better off going to Niagara Falls.(snore)Rgds, Jimmy -
I have not stayed there myself, but I will ask Barney and Aunt Bee about the place and get back to you. Jimmy

If the Pope were alive and making a trip to the Soi 7 Beergarten in BKK, would he take one tg or two for short time to satisfy his carnal desires? Inquiring minds wish to know. Rgds, Jimmy

The best way to use NWA miles is to either take an award to get you to the west coast for free and then book a cheaper flight on another carrier, or pay NWA for an economy ticket and use your miles to upgrade to business. I had about 250,000 miles at one time but have now used all but 15,000 and have pretty much moved on from this carrier with the nasty attitude. You will note that they are rarely competitive when you factor in the dates you have to fly. I hate tailoring my holiday dates to accomodate an air carrier. Rgds, Jimmy

This was for me the nicest BKK hotel I have stayed in. I booked it on the net and the cost for a three night stay was just under 9000, not including mini bar, laundry, and breakfast buffet which was extra of course. All the rooms in this hotel are suites complete with 42 inch plasma television, CD/DVD combo, nice woodwork, huge bed with lots of pillows (upon which you can prop your tilac's arse whilst you have your way with the wench), well appointed bath, in-room safe, and even has his and her robes for lounging about in the suite-a nice touch. My room was on the "M" level which I am told is a newer area of the hotel, and is the same floor as the pool and gymnasium area as well. I did not venture into the gym,(opting, of course, to take my exercise in the room) but from the looks of the equipment it would certainly suffice for those who opt to punish their bodies whilst on their holiday. It's your trip, man. The pool was clean and well maintained but the two portly farang ladies that always seemed to be lounging about when I wanted to use the pool, certainly made the experience less for me than it could have been. There is just something about having to look at jiggling Caucasion cellulite that made my pool visits short in duration. Such is life. I found the staff to be very accomodating and each time I had to have someone come to the room to help me navigate through the remote controls, not one stopped to curse me for being totally electronically inept. Soi 7 would not have been so benevolent. One drawback is that this hotel is set about 500 meters north of Sukhumvit, so if you have a lot of things to lug to and from, motobike or taxi will be in order. This was pricey(at least for me) but it was also a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again. I took a total of 4 tg to the room, so the place is very guest friendly and not an eye was raised for those of you who dread the "walk of shame." I prefer to call it the "walk of pride," as I usually am beaming just thankful that a fat guy like me can get a lovely lady even if I have to pay for it. All in all a great stay-highly recommend it for a splurge. Rgds, Jimmy

Jeez Winston-lighten up. I suppose next you will start picking on us Yanks for wearing our ball caps backwards. Jimmy

MY Brother, I can set you up no problem!! I would be happy to send my ex over to Thailand for your total edification, no problem. All you have to do is buy her a new BMW, listen to all her bull shit, provide some credit cards with high limits, and generally get used to being miserable 24-7. The upside is that each time she spreads her legs your air conditioner will shut off and you might save on energy costs a bit. PM me for details. Jimmy

I recently had a chat with a pilot who currently flies several of the Airbus models and I asked what he thought about the 380. He told me that he wouldn't consider taking a ride on the new aircraft until one had crashed and the "bugs" were sorted out. I asked him if he was joking and he assured me he was not. He also stated that he felt much safer flying any Boeing made airliner. His feeling is that the Airbus planes were rather stiff and unforgiving and that the quality of the parts currently going into the Airbus are not on a par with those of Boeing planes. Jimmy
