  2. Take advantage of the free showers. I bring an old towel that I'm willing to throw out.
  3. Lots of legroom on the SQ Sing-Newark route. 2-3-2 configuration and I had the bulkhead but even guys in the middle seat were happy. The armrests were not removable in my bulhead seat. Anyone know about the rest of the cabin on the longhaul?

  5. So it would make sense for the plane to fly from JFK over the Atlantic but return over the Pacific, right? As far as prices return flights from BKK on Thai to JFK seem most expensive on Mondays.
  6. I would like to fly China Air from JFK-Tapei-BKK. Would like to return on Thai on the non-stop. Taking the China Air flight would allow me to arrive in the LOS about 5 hours earlier. It would also put me over the 100K mark for FF miles. The return flight on Thai allows me top go to work that morning and maximizes every precious hour in the LOS. Has anyone ever done this type of schedling? Any tips who I should contact to handle this? It'd be worth it to me to pay a little extra for this schedule than a roundtrip on either China Air or Thai.
  7. Anyone know of any US travel agents that specialize in the LOS? How do I know if I'm dealing with a teravel agent or a consolidator? On Thai Airways there's a 75 buck cancelation fee, on China Air 100 bucks, and United is 150. All these are reasonable. But I don't want to be in a use it or lose it if I have to cancel. With consolidators is really non-refundable.
  8. If I ran an airline you'd get a non-stop from Toronto but just one day a week, maybe on a Wednesday. Anyone know what the different classes such as V or Q class means? I believe the cheapest class offers no FF miles, but the next clas up maybe costing 50 bucks more does. Which clases don't you get miles? Which coach classes do?
  9. If you fly the Thai non-stop, you can put your FF miles on United, right?
  10. Anyone know anything about this or other similiar outfits? http://www.miles4sale.com/how_it_works.php
  11. Not sure where you'refrom Belem, I'm bad a flags but if you guys are changing planes in Narita from a United flight to a Thai flight you better haul ass between termonals and make sure you're on the right line etc.
  12. free flight rt flight north america to asia is 100K, it used to be 60K but when they changed they gave existing mile holders extra mileage. thanks besty, this is the type of thing i'm looking for. if i was at 99,000 miles I'd take advantage of it, but at 96,000 not very cost effective. china air is a strange airline, for example you get extra miles if you fly on your birthday month.
  13. When I booked my January 05 trip in the autumn of 04, whenevr I was on hold there was always a pre-recorded message about the soon to be implemented 15 buck fee. However, it seems the phone people seem to have access to a secret stash of flights unavailable on the website. And iof you're flying segements on other Star Alliance carriers, you are really forced into the phone. Anyway, 15 bucks not a big deal on an Asian flight but would bwe irritating to me on a cheap domestic flight. I spent at least 3 hours on the phone with their reps fine tuning my unusual itiniery speaking to at le
  14. It seems there's a gazillion and one ways to earn FF on most US carriers without even flying. I need about 4,000 to reach the magic 100,000 on China Air. If anyone knows of any credit cards for which I can enroll, or brokerage accounts I can open or something of that nature please post. If I fly Delta can I credit those miles to China Air? Can anyone sell me 4,000 China Air miles?
  15. Sing rocks! Spore to Newark was a breeze! Used United FF miles. If I book and pay for the Thai nonstop JFK-BKK, I can credit these miles to my United FF account right?
  16. Think Singapore Airlines has 64 seats in Raffle's class and 117 in Executive Economy. Is the Thai plane bigger or just more cramped? 30 movies on demand, assuming they're free is almost as good as the 60 offered on Sing.
  17. BigD-Bali is not a bad choice either, available girls and no barfines.
  18. Big D knows his stuff, try Sept: Please contact airline to buy $980 per person Leave Sat, Sep 3 Thai Airways 791 Depart: 12:00pm Arrive: 4:10pm Non-stop New York, NY (JFK) Bangkok, Thailand (BKK) Economy | 17hr 10min | Airbus A345 This is an overnight flight. Return Sun, Sep 18 Thai Airways 790 Depart: 12:40am Arrive: 6:35am Non-stop
  19. sems like very restrictive travel dates: Seasonality OUTBOUND - PERMITTED 25APR 05 THROUGH 01MAY 05 FOR EACH TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR. INBOUND - PERMITTED 02MAY 05 THROUGH 08MAY 05 FOR EACH TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR.
  20. Northwest supposedly has $403 roundtrips from New York to Singapore (or Homg Kong) and you can complete the trip to Phuket or BKK by way of a cheapo Asian airline. Think this is for late April, early May travel. To checked this out i plugged in a date into Expedia and came up with a great rate though not $403. $536.36 1:55 pm Depart New York (JFK) Arrive Singapore (SIN) 1:20 am +2 days Wed 27-Apr Duration: 22hr 25mn Northwest 17 / 5 Connect in Tokyo (NRT) 6:05 am Depart Singapore (SIN) Arrive New York (JFK) 3:05 pm Wed 4-May Duration
  21. Talking about Soi 7/1 30 minutes internet usage is nice but 90 minutes at Eden Club would be nicer! Life is full of nice surprises!
  22. Doctor, the non-stops from Newark to Spore have jsut two classes Raffles and Executive (Premium) Economy. It's an Airbus 345. Unlike United economy Plus that sucks, Sing Exec Economy is really special. Thai Airways also uses an Airbus 345 for it's non-stop but 1) Is the seating plan the same? 2) Do they have 60 movies on demand? Not a big deal but I doubt if the food will be as good as on Sing.
  23. Sing is part of Star Alliance. They don't allocate many FF seats on the Newark-Spore route but I managed to snag one by booking fairly far in advance.
