  1. I guess I have been lucky, because I have gotten 'miles' tickets for just about all the times I have requested them. I will say that a few times more miles (120,000) were needed for RT from Houston than what I wanted to use. I have always done the looking several months in advance and I'm sure thats what makes the difference. I used miles (90,000) for my September trip plus the $42 for taxes. I booked it back in February. The nice part if that it's business/first all the way back and who knows, could get a bump on one of the outbound legs. I have looked at December using miles and I think 120,000 for my dates, but decided to pay for the tickets to keep my elite status up for next year and then use the miles next year. Emil, I would think that you would need a few less miles by flying into the West Coast. LeoTex
  2. I agree, have always had my flight booked way in advance of booking my hotel. How can you book hotel without knowing when your arrival and departure dates are. LeoTex
  3. I just read my post here from January 2008 when I backed Mr Toom but not any more. I think it was the next trip that he left me high and dry at the hotel for my ride back to the airport. Also the last time he (Mr Toom) guy picked me up at the airport had a old beat up raggy car and we also had to go to some desk before we could go out to the car park way at one end of the airport. Not sure what that was all about. Even after I called him and he said sorry and would have a new driver at the hotel in 15 minutes. That never happened and after telling me that, I think he turned off both of his phones. Have used Mr T now for 5 trips and will use him again next month to pick me up at the BKK airport and take me to Pattaya. LeoTex
  4. Arrive Delta flight 295 from Toyko at 23:20 (11:20 pm) the night of July 6th and straight to hotel in Pattaya. Have care arrange from PBY. If any one is interested in sharing a ride, post here, PM or email me. LeoTex
  5. MM, Just a few minutes after 5 PM here in the real 'work' world and thought I would give the site one last look before going home for the evening and looked at the video. Thanks, as this a nice way to finish my boring work day. LeoTex PS; also after viewing the video, cross off one more day (41 to go) before arriving the LOS.
  6. Have used, but not 'private', but she (jet) has now left, sponcered I think. LeoTex
  7. Or use the 'togo' menu and eat at Lolitas. As you get your knob nawed on, you can naw on a rib. LeoTex
  8. Here is the email I used for Mr. T and received a answer back in less than 24 hours p.t.taxi@hotmail.com LeoTex
  9. I can't agree with you here, IMHO. I have stayed at the PBR the past 6 or 7 trips and will do again. The off season rate which will be in effect when the OP arrives is 999 baht and night with the 7th night free, making the daily charge 856 baht a night. You also get 2 breakfast each morning encluded. Newer hotel with again (IMHO) has a great staff. Never had a problem with the 'thin' walls. Yes the walk is a little longer, but just go through the Avenues Mall and your at 2nd Road to catch a baht bus going towards the lower number Soi's or just walk down Soi 13 to Beach Road and catch a baht bus going to walking stree. LeoTex
  10. I have sent Mr. T a email for airport pickup at the end of this month and got a timely reply comfiming the pickup. First time using him, so will report as to how it went. Not using Mr Toom, because of no show at Pattaya hotel back to BKK and also having an other friend not being meet at the airport by Mr Toom. LeoTex
  11. Mel, (I can call you Mel, can't I?) The $100 US should work for you, but it depends on what you have it budgeted for. As to where to go to find all the stunners, just follow your head and yhou should be OK. LeoTex PS; I just cancelled my trip, so you are on your own.
  12. This has work in the past so will try again. With 2 weeks to go, thought I would check to see if anyone wanted to share a ride to Pattaya. I arrive late Tuesday night the 30th of March. Will be on Delta Flight #295 from Tokyo. Arrive 11:50 PM (23:50). Have car booked to Sandy Spring and if anyone is interested, please PM, email or post here. LeoTex
  13. If you use 2000 or newer US $100, shouldn't have any problems. Make sure they are clean of ink marks and not torn. The 1996 are turned down at most if not all the exchange booths. The 1999 are hit and miss and can sometimes be exchanged inside some of the banks. I try and get 2003 or newer from my bank before I make the trip and never had one turned down. LeoTex
  14. I guess the test was to see if you could 'ignore' and not open the thread. I didn't pass the test as you all should know, because I just posted. LeoTex
  15. Arrive BKK late 23:45 (11:45 pm) the night of December 23rd. Will be on Northwest flight #341 from Tokyo. Have car booked with hotel. If anyone wants to share a ride, email, PM for post here. Thanks LeoTex
  16. Sailfast, Have seen them in the Villa Market at the Avenues Mall on 2nd Road and Soi 13. The prices for that type of stuff is a lot higher than back here. Triscuts and Cream Cheese works for me. LeoTex
  17. MM, You are very correct there. I have booked 2 'miles' trips for next year. The fees for the one in April was $42 US and the one for September was $47 US. Maybe I got over charged for the later one, will check today. As far as buying a regular ticket, about 3 years back on Northwest got a R/T for $699 all in. Those days are all long gone. Maybe we need a thread on who has paid the most for a ticket to the LOS. I'm embarresed to say that My upcoming Christmas trip cost be about $2170 US, the most I have every paid for a ticket anywhere, but the up-side is the trip is First/Business all the way with upgrade coupons. LeoTex
  18. BTW, that 'Admiral' to you, lol. Ken, Hope the new adventure works. I remember a few of the FLB day boat trips with half of the FLB girls going along. Only problem was getting them back to work that night on time and sober. LeoTex
  19. I spent a lot of time there over the years and would always enjoy my time there. Pat is a 'class act' and a great lady to talk to. One of the girls that worked Highway Bar, Tai opened the Ribbon Bar on Soi 16 and everytime that there was a birthday party or the bar's anniversary Pat would be there with gifs to help suppor her bar. LeoTex
  20. I would be more concerned that there would 'insurance' money to pay for the repairs on my body if I would be hurt in an accident. LeoTex
  21. TF, Looks like I will be staying at the Summer Spring late this December and early January. I have always stayed at the Sandy Spring, but when I was staying there mid September and making my December reservations, was told that the Sandy Spring was fully booked for my dates. The girl that has work the desk since the Sandy Spring worked at the Summer Spring a while when they first opened, suggested giving them a try, so I booked there. She also told me that the rooms at the Summer Spring didn't have a 'seaview'. All the years (4 times each year) I have never gotten a better price than what is listed on their website, and yes, I have asked. If I remember, I think the prices at the Summer Spring are 100 baht a night less than the Sandy Spring. I'm not sure I'm going to like the location of the Summer Spring as it's all the way down on Soi 1 between 2nd Road and Beach Road, so put myself on a wait-list at the Sandy Spring. LeoTex
  22. jacko, Thanks for the reply. I printed this out and put in my laptop bag and will give it a try the next time I can't get online while travelng. Like I said, I only have the problem after using a WiFi spot and come back at a late date and try to log in again. Thanks again for the info LeoTex
  23. jacko, I have had the same problem with 'Vista'. First time in Pattaya. I told the hotel owner that I didn't have a problem the last time I stayed. His first question he asked, did I have 'Vista'. He said that he could reset the settings and that in the past when a hotel guest had trouble, it was always "Vista'. He said something about the security in the 'Vista' operating system that wouldn't allow me to connect on this trip. To me this didn't make since, because how could I get on the hotel WiFi every day on my past trip. Anyway, he reset the settings and then I could log into the hotel WiFi. He also told me to have him reset back to how it was, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get back online at the airport lounges on my way back home. Next time this happened to me, was in a Angeles City hotel that I had stayed the previous trip. Again, samething, the manager reset the settings and then I could get back on line there. My connection this time was both WiFi in the restaurant and being hardwired in the room. Again he reset my laptop so I would be able to use it at other places. I don't have the connection problem at other places that I have used the laptop over and over, such as at my home, or using the same airport lounges over and over again. If you know how to solve the problem, that would be a great help. Thanks, LeoTex
  24. The 'placement' of the AC unit in he room is important to me. At a couple of the hotels I stay at, the unit is facing the bed and the air blow right on the bed. The unit needs to be placed in the room were the direct air isn't blowing on you all night. All the other good ideas that you mentioned and the other postings are good and would make it a nice place to stay. I think for me, location would be one of the main factors in making my decission as where to stay. LeoTex
  25. aceswild, give this a try and the call should go through 001 1 714-746 XXXX LeoTex
