  1. pprune.org the professional pilots forum have reported that an EVA 747 had a mishap at LHR, possibly Saturday nights flight. Apparently maintenance were checking for hydraulic leaks and the nosewheel hadn't got a pin properly inserted and it collapsed, caused quite a bit of damage. There is a good photo but i'm not clever enough to post it on this site. i just hope any brothers going to BKK got there OK.
  2. Travelbag.co.uk have LHR-BKK for £302 rtn inc taxes. Must travel before June 30th and it is Etihab airline.
  3. Dan, check out a hong Kong travel agent, http://www.farringtontravel.com this company has some good deals HKG-BKK Rgds
  4. wbill I checked out sabai lodge web site and they are having a new block built, should be finished about September.
  5. At Montien even if you book and pay for a double they still hit you for 800 joiners fee, do NOT stay there.
  6. Opodo sent me another e-mail today, I checked out the BKK flight and it says,"Gulf Air Company" I bet that means Etihab
  7. I have not ruled out staying at Dusit Resort on my next visit to Pattaya, however I was worried about joiner fees. I e-mailed Dusit Pattaya asking about fees and this is their reply. "Thank you for your kind support us at Dusit Resort Pattaya regarding to joiner fees. We would please to inform you that we will charge THB 1,000 net per person per night.(double occupancy surcharge) In this case, if you booked the room with travel agency we recommend you to book a double room then we can waive surcharge." So it seems as long as you book a double you should not have to pay a joiners fee!
  8. Had an e-mail today from Opodo.co.uk. LHR-BKK with Gulf Air £332 rtn inc taxes, this is not a direct flight and I haven't checked flight times. Valid from today to June 15th, all return travel must be completed by June 15th. This may be useful to some members. Rgds
  9. It's along way to fly in a Classic, it may cost a few quid more but I'll stick with Eva
  10. aarmitage9 If you go to Hotels, then reviews, then Pattaya, then over 2,000baht you will find 6 more reviews about the Dusit. Have a great trip.
  11. They still used the Combi on Sunday flights in February. I'm a bit cheesed off with the new mileage rules, but not the end of the world. Eva never seem to upgrade like other airlines, when I flew out with the 1st at the front of the aircraft there were only 1 or 2 passengers in the first cabin. If that were Virgin they'd have moved customers up and squeeze more in the back. Rgds
  12. portiebear If you check out the Hotel reviews section there are 4 reviews on the Sundream. They may help you decide if it's the hotel for you or not. It is in the Pattaya 1,000-2,000 section. Rgds
  13. B01 As Tom said, Barupa watches in MBK plaza, Bangkok are very good, not the cheapest but decent quality. I bought a Brietling, told them I was working in BKK for 3 months and they give you a 3 month guarantee. I think I paid about 2,000, as Tom says you get what you pay for. By the way the Brietling is still going although only 2 months at the moment. Rgds
  14. Any Pattaya residents know how long this construction work is going to take?
  15. There's a travel company in HKG called Farrington Travel, they have some awesome deals to BKK, I don't remember their web site just search Farrington Travel HKG. Rgds
  16. Travelmood have just sent me an e-mail £349 EVA LHR-BKK as long 286 travelling together! Only joking 3 must travel together. Also KLM same price for one person. These flights have to be booked in the next week or so and must be taken in the next 3 months or so. Check out the Travelmood site if interested. Rgds
  17. M D If you look in Hotel reviews, Pattaya/1000-2000 you will find reviews of the Montien including my recent one. If you are going with the family, you should be OK, my main gripe was the 800 guest fee. The bedrooms are OK, the bathrooms need a re-furb, the grounds etc are quite nice. In the room is a list of the room inventory and how much you have to pay if anything goes missing. For a family holiday you will be OK but search around if you have not already booked. Rgds
  18. Anyone have an opinion whether the Sandy Springs is better than Residence Garden? I know SS is in a better position for the action, but which one has the better rooms? TIA
  19. Ours travel have EVA for August at £510+ Tax, this is a direct flight at good times, enjoy!
  20. Funnily enough I got pulled by customs at LHR 3 weeks ago when I arrived on the EVA Air from BKK. I was in a suit and carrying a Samsonite case with a rucksack on my back. A woman in plain clothes stopped me and asked, where have you come from, etc etc etc she asked me how often I went to BKK, I told her only once per year as I needed to build up my power for TGs. I said," have a look in my case if you want but hurry up as I have a train to catch." she said, "do youknow your duty free limits?" I told her, "yes, i only have 200 cigarettes and no booze", she then let me go! By the Way, that'
  21. Greg Thanks for reminding me, Bangkok Airways provided FREE cold Juices, also had the english Premiership football on the TVs. I have just looked at my ticket stub,it is a British type 'Stealth tax', the correct name is 'Passenger Service Charge' Great Airport.
  22. eddi Weekender resort in Lamai beach Samui is quite nice, well positioned and GF, rates from about 1800. Rgds
  23. My return flight was on the jet aircraft, MD 95 or Boeing 717 or DC 9 or whatever you want to call it. Bonus 1 was I asked for window seat and I finished up with window/exit row so that was cool. Bonus 2, the runway at USM isn't the longest, so it was full power take off with a very steep climb out, great stuff. [smiley=1luvu.gif]
  24. Rt Have you tried 'Ours Travel' They are usually good on Eva airprices and service. Rgds
