Htc Desire/hd2 Or I-phone 4/3gs ?
too_mutt replied to LocalYokul's topic in Technical problems or questions.
From what I have read there are some issues with Windows 7 64 bit and the new version of iTunes. Apple really wants to draw you into the Apple enclave from Windows. But, the new iphone 4 is remarkable. -
Nope, but I have been reading many varying opinions on them. Seem to be slightly better than the traditional type overall. I did try their 777 econ seats and they are somewhat tight for me at 6'2. Also, CX in biz class is prohibitively expensive for me. I may end up using either EVA or CX out of LAX I think. SFO is a better experience, but LAX is closer.
-
Don't know if you would consider Cathay Pacific or not, but last I checked they have a dozen or so flights per week LAX->HKG.
-
That is the problem with SQ from the West coast, the long way to get to LOS from SFO. I would love to use SQ otherwise.
-
Yes, SQ (F and J) is way "not cheap"...

Not quite sure I understand this. Does this mean you tell them the same thing every time, or are you saying no matter what you say, you are selected for search? To me, the answer is pretty standard: travel, Thai culture, food, weather, affordable, nightlife, etc.

Just curious which carriers you guys use when transiting LAX. I have used EVA so far through LAX. The EVA overall experience was pretty good!

My friends think Im nuts for planning LOS trip..

I say it is about 60/40 against any group closing the airport. I think that is the biggest potential impediment to a LOS holiday. -
suggestions for pick-up from airport?

I really like Image Limo... (www.imagelimo.com) Pricey, but top notch service. -
I have read on the interweb that the business class seat for EVA does have that "slide down" feature. But, there is the benefit of fewer passengers and better food, rest rooms, etc. I was down graded to economy on the TPE-SIN leg due to equipment swap from 777 to A330. At that point I wish I had booked business class. But, if your route is all 744/777 then Deluxe class will be available. Eva Air does a good job, and is really filling seats (at least on the LAX-TPE segment).

Flew EVA Deluxe last month (LAX-TPE-SIN and return) and I would say it is definitely worth the extra money. That was my first time in Deluxe on EVA, and I did not realize that they treat as a completely separate class (except during boarding. Separate restrooms, etc. They are fairly strict about carry-on weight limits though. I think I may try business class next time, as it is also quite a value. The 777s are great airplanes, IMO.

Good question. Use fn+f9 to switch on/off the wireless capability on your NC10. If there is a password required you will need to enter it once the NC10 acquires the network when you open your browser. These small computers are quite good, and there should not be too much more to it than that. You can use an ethernet connection if there is an active port in the room and you have an ethernet cable. It seems like more places go with wireless if they offer internet access.

I prefer the location for the PBR over the Summer Spring. I have not looked at the rooms at the Summer Spring, but the PBR rooms are very acceptable to me.

Visited the RG during my trip in November. The place looked quite nice and the rooms in both buildings (old and new) were good. The staff seemed quite friendly. The things that put me off were the road construction and baht bus ride. I didn't want to have such a long distance to get to Tops or Big C. If you like seclusion then this would be the place.

I guess I was surprised they would not accept cards other than Visa or MC, so I wondered if there are are other details that might cause a problem. I was curious if anyone has had any billing issues at Sandy Springs. They seem to require the card numbers to hold the room, although they do not charge it ahead.
-
I made a reservation with Sandy Spring today, and used a card other the Visa or Master Card. Now I have to send the cc details (in two emails) for the other card. It would have been nice to know that ahead, but perhaps I should have asked. Anyone know of any billing caveats related to Sandy Springs.

Thanks for the tip. I looked at their website and the address is 436/3-4 Moo 9 Soi 1 Pattaya Beach Road Nongprue although there is no map at the website. It would be nice to get some feedback from someone who has stayed there.

I am making my reservation over the next couple of days for a Nov trip and I am having a hard time deciding between Sandy Spring and Sabai Inn. Here is some of the data for each: Sandy Spring - Deluxe room @1600 baht - wireless internet in room (they claim in the email) - non-smoking rooms (important to me as I don't like rooms that smell) - seaview rooms available - location close to Royal Garden and Walking Street. - small pool available - safes at front desk except for suites Sabai Inn - 1350 baht for Superior room - wireless internet in lobby - no "non-smoking"

Do you see "SP3" when you right click my computer and select "Properties"? I still see SP2.

Agree 100 percent with that call.

It seems that many credit unions and financial institutions in the U.S are charging a 1% or 1.5% "international transaction fee". My credit union used to merely charge $1.50 per transaction. too_mutt

Some require ActiveX to be resident.

Areca Lodge - Credit card question
too_mutt replied to CanadianGuy's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I don't have any first hand experience to base this on, but I would imagine they might give you the option of providing a cc, or leaving a cash deposit. From their point of view, I guess there are a few people who might cause damage and refuse to pay. too_mutt -
I get $3377 for biz class and $1184 for ED on EVA for Nov. For comparison, CX is $5270. tm
