  1. Hostess bars??????????? On soi 6?????????? Fuck, I thought I'd heard it all.
  2. BOI land is available to falang. Just pony up 40 million baht. Yes, you read correctly, 40 mil.
  3. I liked it best when it was the big old barn on 2nd road, had man really good meals there. Food was still good when it went to WS but the decor was too tourist/yuppie date night for me. Have to give it a go at the new locale.
  4. Mediocre? You're being kind Denny. Hope you are well.
  5. House in your name? No pompem. Land in your name? Nope.
  6. They take the piss in the west, too. Crap dinner and funny hats $100+/person. Drinks extra. 15% "gratuity" even if service is piss poor.
  7. So, he's voting age now is he? Many more happy birthdays, Adam. BTW, did you get laid?
  8. Its hubby. Haven't met him but hear he's a good guy.
  9. Nice to see Porn still with her man. Good on both of them! And nice to see Nam, desirable as ever. Well done, Adam. See you soon!
  10. Lamai Perfect in Lamai, excellent, new, pool and under 1K baht. Chaweng's a crap place IMO.
  11. They manage because there is canal-side infrastructure, same Am'dam, Toulouse and other places. I suspect that doesn't exist in LoS other than at marinas where mooring charges are probably quite high (keeps the non-yacht riffraff out).
  12. You know what's better than having a boat? Having a friend with a boat (boat, n. a hole in the water into which you throw money.)
  13. Lot of money for a room.
  14. Day after my birthday! Can Nam and I celebrate together, privately?
  15. Stayed in IBIS many times in France. Good basic accommodation. Good price for BKK and ideal for a short stay or if you arrive late. I wouldn't want to spend more than a night before moving on to Pats or elsewhere.
  16. I think the lighter-skinned monkeys pay 10 baht on the b-bus. Any word on what happened to the cash the slovak slaphead was chucking around? No doubt he was bereft of cash upon arrival at the hospital. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the antics.
  17. It will be in the am in Thailand. Telecast at 10, main event about 11 depending on how far the prelims go.
  18. I watched PacMan-DLH and Moseley-Margarito at The Captain's and the telecast began at 10am wth 2 or 3 prelims then the nain event around 11am. You're welcome, its always a pleasure to share good places. If you go tell The Captain John from Canada tipped you off. Enjoy the fight.
  19. Captain's Bar & GH soi Honey Inn about 100 yards down from soi Buakhow on the south side. Gerry aka The Captain is a premier fight fan, former resident of Vegas and Detroit where he was a regular at Emanuel Steward's resto. The bar is festooned with pix of Gerry w/Ali, Steward, DeLaHoya, Hit Man Hearns, Jerry Quarry, Azumah Nelson, Michael Katsidis and many more. Its the best place to watch for real fight fans. Proper beer prices, full English plus Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Mash, Pork chops etc etc.
  20. My 2 satang: I would avoid sterling. The UK was rescued by North Sea oil which is now running out. They also don't make much any more. Financial services were a huge part of the economy (much bigger share than in the US) and they are in bad bad shape. I don't really see sterling coming back to $2.00. Oz seems like a place to look at for cash deposits - stable, transparent etc.
  21. Just remember if you invest in another country's bank paper you get your money paid back in that country's paper. So 10% in Buttfukistan migt sound great but you get Buttfuks back. And higher the yield, higher the risk. Ther's no free lunch. Right now Canadian banks are rated very highly as their boring, timid managers didn't engage in high-wire stunts like other "masters of the universe".
  22. Dr. Mick, you'll be fine and Bill will take care of you.
  23. Dr. Mick, BB's is a good place to eat but it doesn't overlook the beach. Its on a road across from the fishing pier and pier restaurants. The piers act as dividers on the beach which continues both north and south of them. If you are upstairs you will see the sea but don't expect a "beach front" room like you would get on Samui or Koh Chang. BTW, best beach is SuanSon, 15 mins south of town by motorbike. Its on the other side of the gold Buddha at Khao Takiab which is the south end of HH town beach. SuanSon is army property but open to the public. Huge, tree-lined, food and drink, deckchair
