Check out Vinai apartments on soi Vinai near 3rd road and 100 metres from Buffalo Bar. They have a website and it looks ok, only 350/night , monthly rates also. I'm trying it out in April.

I didn't meet Cookie but I liked his place. Good vibes with no "New Age" psychobabble bullshit like at the Rock Sand end (although you can score at that end of the beach) and good food. I had one of the best meals of my life and I'm a serious eater having lived in France for 4 years in the 90s. Next time I go to KoChang I won't hesitate to go back to Cookie's and if you will go back that's the best endorsement.

Bungalows are air-con and IMO many of the others are not worth the extra 800-1000 baht. My TG was quite happy at Cookie and I wasn't there to stare at the room plus the clientele was not uptight whereas at some of the "upscale" joints they think too mut of themselves becoz they are paying more. Same beach, same sun, same trees. In fact, some of the upscale places further south from Cookie have no beach, just rocks. No, I do not own any part of Cookie :) I just had a memorable 5 days there thinking we were in love 55555

Cookie Bungalows right on White Sand Beach, 1000 a night, very nice air con room, comfy, clean, nice covered veranda with table, chairs and couch. Very good restaurant on site with nightly BBQ, fresh seafood. They will bring the menu and the meal to your veranda. Guest friendly, no yuppie snob trip, close to ATM, fruit vendors, internet at Hati's across the road, shops etc etc. Bring a friend, its like a honeymoon.

black tie or white tie?

Has anyone stayed at Vinai Apartments on 3rd Rd. near Buffalo Bar? Place has a website, looks clean and decent, run by a German guy (I think) and his TG/TW. I'm thinking of using it as a base in April so any comments would be appreciated. Ta.

59 posts and whining already. We await something worth reading or seeing from you. But then again, trip reports about your visit to Dairy Queen aren't really that gripping are they? Does your mum know where you are? Fucking muppet.

Is it because economy class shit stinks. ??? -
I saved CDN$400 over the EVA website price last fall by booking with a Taiwanese travel agancy in Vancouver. IMO airline website bookings are never the best price.

Re: if sending money to los why not cheques
JohnnyK replied to H's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Jack, MANY banks are global but most are not. Also remember we are peons, not corporations sending millions around the world every day. Anyway, up to you. Try it and see what happens. I have sent money twice. Once was simply US$20 inside a card for a favour above and beyond by an airline worker. No problem. The other was more substantial and I used a HSBC bank draft drawn on HSBC Silom Road, BKK. Again no problem but a few hundred baht did vapourize, -

Jack, it not just in LOS. Sent a cheque once to a mate in France and 500 Francs turned magically into about 300. Its just banks is all. -

Sending a cheque is a good way to toss money away. To clear the cheque it will go through several sets of hands between the Thai bank and your bank and each hand will cream some off the top. Your 50 quid cheque could end up being 10 quid by the time it gets into the intended hands. And it takes forever. -
Top Charoen, 2nd Road at soi 12 or 13. 4300THB, progressive bifocal, flex arms on the frame, nice matte black frame that I've got lots of compliments on, exam and delivery in 36 hours. Nice young woman named Parawat.

I think I know where you mean. The phantom mall with used books and very few other tenants in it. Cheers, JK

Tom, agreed. I found him ok and I was very happy with the 2pair trou. Bit more expensive than some but better quality. Thanks for telling me where he is.
-
Tom, I always get mixed up between soi 2 & 3. So when did this happen? He made me two pair of pants in mid-October when I was staying at the Welkom. I had read somewhere that he had been turfed out from another place due to development. Poor bugger if that has happened again.

Anybody know which dumps were raided?

Try Sunny on soi 3 just below 2nd road.

Web sites for meeting nice girls in Pattaya
JohnnyK replied to tmart100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Both the nice girls in Pattaya went home for the holidays. -
For me going out of Vancouver its only Eva Evergreen Deluxe. 6-7 hours of decent sleep to TPE, the BKK leg is a doddle and you're in BKK in time to open Eden Club at 12:45 and with the energy to make it worth it :-*

FYI - Canadian Airlines went tits up 2 years ago and were absorbed by Air Canada which is now in bankruptcy protection. Canadian was a decent outfit but the bigger and shittier Air Canada ate them leaving Canadians one less choice.

Where is "too far from the action"? I've come to prefer North as its a little quieter and less congested. South has too many hustles, too much traffic and for me Walking Street is overpriced and more for tourist rubberneckers with their fat wives. Soi7 & 8, soi 6 and soi 2 for me. Side trips to Naklua Road also.

Is pussy the only thing you Brits think about? What about the beach? Do they even have beaches in Japan like other parts of the world. I only ask because I know land is at a premium there. If I migrate somewhere there has to be a beach where I can hang out and read the paper. Day is for beach - night is for tail. It's a division of labor.. Logged PP, in their rush to industrialization after WW2 the japanese figured out that to export their stuff they would need port facilities etc so with impeccable logic they built their steel mills, cement plants and other scenic wonders
