When I rented from Expat Car Rentals last year,I think they would have rented on my US license but they were visibly happy when I produced an IDP. I have encountered a couple of middle of the day checkpoints where the police were checking licenses.

Getting to WS from Sutus Court (Soi Buakhao)

Big "if" but if the girl is clear on the destination, she will be able to sort that out. Be prepared to pay "taxi" rate rather than 10 baht per person. Probably better for a repeat engagement. -
A small bit of good news about dealing with Social Security. I had sent a message to the Social Security office in Manila http://FBU.Manila@ssa.gov asking about how to change my address within Thailand. I included my new address on the off chance it was that easy. A few days later I got this, "Good morning. Address has been upated."

Before my sojourn back to the world I rented a car for a bit more than six months. I liked having my own wheels whenever I wanted and will want to have similar convenience when I go back to Pattaya at the end of the month. Now, the question is whether it makes more sense economically to rent or buy in Pattaya. The cost of renting a Toyota Vios for six months was somewhere around 115,000 baht for six months. No, I don't have the exact figure, I'm not that well organized. But at any rate, it occurs to me I can rent a car for a long time for what it would cost to buy a new car or truck.

Immigration puts personal details online for all to see

Apparently someone else thought this would be a good approach. I added the highlighting in red. According to the blog site "Rosenzweig formerly served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Department of Homeland Security." -
Yesterday, in the fullness of time, I received a check for $135.61 as a result of the claim I had submitted almost three years ago. There were also coupon award codes for rebates on Korean Air for $81.04 and on Asiana for $31.17. I barely remember having taken a flight on Asiana several years back so they found that independent of my claim. Not a lot, but I got something for probably 30 minutes effort.

Back to the US for a couple of months. Driving on the right (in some sense) is not a problem. On the other hand, found myself trying to use the windshield wipers as a turn signal. Hell, I was doing that last week in Pattaya.

Trolling a post from 10 years ago?

I have a mail box at a UPS store. They forward mail and advertise that they would also open and scan at my direction. I haven't used the scan service. This likely wouldn't meet all of your requirements. When I submit a forwarding order with USPS, their computer immediately recognizes it as a commercial mail service. Think I had the same thing happen with Best Buy when I tried to order something. Wells Fargo will take it as a mailing address as long as I also provide a Home/Permanent address which I still have. American Express accepted it as an address.

At 100kph?

There was a driver in the second taxi. The first I realized there was something more going on than extreme tailgating was when the guy in the second car started waving his arm frantically out the window to signal a lane change.

They were both still with us when I passed them.

Sunday, on Route 9 (I think) coming south in the general direction of Suvarnabhumi, saw a taxi ahead of me following closely behind the car ahead, both going about 100kph. As I got closer I saw the car in front was also a taxi and was towing the second taxi with a cargo strap which may have been 2 meters in length.

All American Hotdogs & Snow Cones: The weird combo
nkped replied to Gabor's topic in Restaurants and food
The first time I ever ordered scrambled eggs and toast at the Jomtien Pig & Whistle, I was a bit distressed when the plate came out with the eggs on one of the pieces of toast. That was a piece of toast I did not eat. To their credit, now, when I order eggs and toast separate, that's what I get. -
Did you forget a link? Mostly curiosity as I don't anticipate ever flying that route, but is that nonstop? I flew Detroit-Beijing once, 16 hours, and don't want to ever do that again and that was 19 years ago.

Titties ( ? ) On Jomtien... The Australian pie restaurant.
nkped replied to Gabor's topic in Restaurants and food
I had been to Tinnies before and had not been impressed. Not certain what I had, but seem to remember it being dry and lacking taste. Based on the spectrum of favorable reviews, I decided to give them another try and was glad I did. I had the beef, cheese and bacon pie. It was quite tasty and moist with a filling of finely ground beef along with the cheese and a bit of bacon. You could tell the cheese was there by taste rather than visual inspection. I had mashed potatoes and peas along with the pie. I used the gravy provided on the potatoes rather than on the pie. It wasn't -
With a retirement extension, I have gotten a TM6 back on the three occasions I have come back on a reentry permit. I fill in the departure card except for the departure flight and signature, the immigration officer stamps it with the entry date, returns it and I keep with my passport.
-
Are you perhaps referring to the TM6 Departure Card the immigration officer handed back to you in your passport when you were admitted? Yes, that needs to be completed and presented to immigration when you depart. You should keep it as it is part of the proof that you are in Thailand legally.
