But where is the historical dialectic taking us if capitalism is dead?

If the interest rate was 10%, which we are not going to see anytime soon, that would be 1,500£ in one year. What are you going to do with that? And if interest on savings was 10%, there would be far higher inflation than we have now. Also, new home buyers and people with adjustable rate mortgages, including some senior citizens, would be facing even higher interest rates on their home loans.

I had four friends from work across the US who died within a couple of years of each other without ever getting the opportunity to retire. One was a 39 year old mother of two.

For a summary of the speculation that there may be illegitimate motivations for this action as well as reports that there may actually be a security issue. https://www.lawfareblog.com/administrations-new-electronics-ban-case-study-credibility The author doesn't come down either way and wonders whether it is a matter of a ham handed rollout.

Another suggestion that it is country specific without naming the countries. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/tripping/wp/2017/03/20/report-u-s-to-ban-carry-on-electronic-devices-on-flights-arriving-from-certain-countries-beginning-tuesday/?hpid=hp_hp-more-top-stories_tripping-planeban750p%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.4e3768310297

Just for reference, the motorway toll for a trip from Suvarnabhumi is 60 baht for a pickup truck. I believe it is less (40 baht?) for a passenger car.

The rate at T-T for the USD has crept back above 35 to 35.05.

I was thinking more of the inevitable download. It is possible to have too much of a good thing.

Might be tasty but the after effects would be a bit burdensome.

Last year I used an income declaration which was six weeks old. Others report that it can be up to 90 days. Depends on your nationality. From those of us from the U.S., the only thing the embassy is verifying is your identity and your signature. They have no interest in seeing proof of income. That has worked with Thai immigration so far. I have proof of income but immigration hasn't asked for it yet. There is always a first time. I have seen reports that it is not as simple with other embassies.

Unless your embassy consular section makes outreach road trips. Folks from the U.S. Embassy were in Pattaya on 3 March.

Possible, but the restitution would be part of the original criminal sentence in U.S. District Court. It would have to be the sentencing judge modifying the sentence.

The Robin Hood Tavern in The Avenue (updated Dec. 6, 2019)

Wifi works. The Scotch eggs are good. Entirely too much reliance on mashed potatoes with mystery sauce and they need to lose the musical group. -
I made my way to Rich Man, Poor Man near the beach entrance to Jomtien Soi 9 this morning. Had a quite good omelet with ham and cheese. Also, their kitchen opens at 7am. It's not as convenient as Pastrami on Rye, but still looks like it will be worth an occasional return visit for breakfast.

I got the tax statement.

My monthly Social Security payment for February didn’t post to my U.S. bank account on 3 February. That was a Friday so I figured that if there had been any delay in processing, it would not post until the following Monday. It wasn’t there on Monday and by 8 February, I was pretty sure it wasn’t going to be there so I sent an email to the Social Security office at the U.S. Embassy in Manila. I didn’t get a response or any kind of acknowledgment so on 15 February, I called the Manila office. To my pleasant surprise, I got an answer within a few seconds. The call was answered by a lady

I'm in crisis that I don't have them for breakfast any more. Now, English brekkie with an embalmed tomato just doesn't make it.

Whatever they are doing, they're butchering the roll out.

I've had the Scottish eggs a couple of times. It comes with a side salad and makes a very nice lunch. The ale chutney is a bit of a mystery. I'm beginning to think it best to order one of the starters rather than the main courses which tend to come in heroic sized servings -

I am just happy when I can get a baked potato instead of the ubiquitous mash with mystery sauce. -
Going over the "hill" on Koh Chang will pucker you up.

"What was your name the States [uK], was it Johnson or Jackson or Bates?" I get the feeling uncle is no stranger.
