  1. I was wondering how come I missed the party .... then I also turn up in the pics and it was my birthday too. Jesus, these days here really are starting to merge into each now, i'm genuinely worried for my health and or mental state!
  2. Shame about eBay ..... i'd be interested to see how much it went for over there, sounds pretty cheap for anything that could compare in the UK. I think the question about the girl was actually "did you buy it for a girl and she didn't like it?"
  3. I've always thought that it originated from Lancashire, England. Pigs blood and fat are the main contents ........ nice though.
  4. probably best to go for eBay isn't it?
  5. My favourites are all the food stalls near the Fried Chicken stand mentioned above (and the fried chicken too). At a higher price point though, Bruno's is still my No.1 Choice ...... though I have heard that the main Chef has left in the last few weeks. Tried the 'New Orleans' again the other day too, still do the best ribs in town.
  6. I was talking with the new partner of the 'Hide-a-way' bar in Jomtien last night and happened to mention 'Simons Fish & Chips'. Apparently it's a 'chain' that opening up over town. I had the 'Large Icelandic Cod' with Mushy Peas, Chips and Curry (weird I know!). All I can say is ......... the curry was ok.
  7. I checked Etihad yesterday for someone and the price was only £322, flying from Man to BKK on the 10th Nov. Staying for 3 weeks. Amazing. Just checked Etihad for flights to cover your dates ....... £335 ..... oops, no they only have the £405 flights available. Ignore everything i've said ..... these prices are plus the taxes of around 120 sterling.
  8. Really? you could be flying over with my 61 yr old mother! Take care of her won't you, and please don't tell her too much about Pattaya!!
  9. 1, More of a work ethic (generally) 2, better english skills 3, more 'acceptable' to foreign investors / purchasers 4, contacts abroad 5, contacts here etc, etc In the main though, if a postion is currently being held be a Thai, chances are that the Farang wouldn't be offered the job in the first place. I'm currently setting up a Thai Company, but that's because I believe it will be best for me in the long run. I'll also be allowed to do the 'odd freelance job' here in Thailand without problems.
  10. Two really great points of view, both of which I also standby. If any bar is going to 'whine' to me about losing a few hundred baht, because the girl wants a decent place to sleep and a little extra money, it really wouldn't go down to well. All of the bars where I have 'friends' know me and also know that I have no problems with spending money, and as they see me regularly, they too would be doing a foolish thing in pushing the 'barfine'. Fortunately, this has never been raised to me, though it was mentioned to a girl sometime back. She left them with no doubt that discussing it a
  11. 4th of July, what's special about that date? (joke!) I'll be sure to make a return visit
  12. I've been living here for nearly 8 months now and I honestly think that the girls treat you the same as anyone else. Obviously, this will be different if you constantly visit the same bars, in which case you'll probably get a lot closer to the some of the girls and could actually form a friendship with a couple of them ..... ya never know. In the main though, the girls do think for the moment and they'll still try to get drinks out of you and they'll still play bargames and hope for a barfine. Many of the 'get rich quick' girls would actually prefer a guy who is 'out of town' anywa
  13. 3.5m for a 48sqm condo or the same for a 3 bedroom 200sqm house near the lake, Siam Country Club, Horseshoe Point etc. Is Pattaya really all about bars then staggering back to the closest bed? I guess that the prices say it is so.
  14. Yeah for a bar owner that has his livelyhood invested, who has to compete against literally 'thousands' of other bars and who's bar is on the 'wrong side' of the tracks. Self promotion is surely unecessary You do good Kobolos, nothing wrong with telling people about yourself.
  15. Don't know if you are in the minority really, but I do know that i'm with you. I normally eat Thai food and am keen to try a variety of dishes ......... though I do still draw the line at anything with more than 4 legs! My live-in is generally against farang food too, so normally the the question of 'what to eat' is pretty obvious, this once however, she fancied having a try of Pizza ..... her son loves it. In the 'All you can eat for 99baht' stakes she only managed half a slice. Obviously regretting her decision to give it a go!
  16. For the 'thick crust' deep dish guys I'll have give a mention to the new place on Soi Diana across from the Areca Lodge. 99baht all you can eat ....... really 'edible' Pizza and excellent value. I tried a slice of 'Taco Pizza', a slice of 'Bolognase Pizza' and a 'Pepperoni Calzone'. All fresh and good and certainly worth a 'revisit'. Spending the last five years in Italy though, has given me a taste for what a 'real Pizza' should be .............. and I havn't tasted anything close in Thailand.
  17. sadly ...... mine did ........ on both occasions I tried. I put it down to having an 'outstandingly' intellingent right foot.
  18. The 'is' in the name suggests that it's part of the range that features 'Image Stabilisation'. My guess is that it's just showing you that it's 'active'.
  19. An Englishman, Irishman, Welshman, Scotsman, a Priest, a Vicar and a Rabbi all walk into a bar. The barman says "what is this ......... some kind of joke?" ------------------------ If you saw the same Rowan Atkinson film as me yesteday, you'll have already heard this one
  20. Just watched the 'trailer' from the link above ....... tastefully shot, and creepy as f**k. Just this little 'clip' is going to make me cautious about BJ's here in Patt's!
  21. Yes, still Tukcom ........ the 2nd to top floor (I think) has all the software you will ever need at 150 baht each disc
  22. If you post your intended budget, I'm sure you'll get more specific recommendations. The LK Metropole 1 Bedroom Suite is good value at 48k baht per month, but so is a Deluxe room at the Siam View Residence (next to The Nova Park) for 14k. Come to think of it The Nova Park is pretty good for 19k, they should even have some rooms available during your dates.
