  1. Hi, in my opinion the more stars a place has or claims to have the less they like Mongers ,as far as I am aware all the "classy" places in Pattaya want you to pay extra for joiners.Try almost any of the soi 13 hotels they are all in their way very comfy and all are good to go as far a guests are concerned.
  2. The larger rooms are advertised as 19900 baht a month plus services and I thought they were fantastic with everything a man could want, including a Bath.
  3. No abuse intended ,It's just that, What I have been told and what I have read, seem to be at odds with what TFC is saying .I do hope he is right ,but am still to be convinced.
  4. Then again my question is how can you own any land as it is forbidden by Thai law. What you are talking about is in the UK called joint freehold where each of the flats has an equal share of the land (not all flats have this protection in the UK)but anyone is allowed to own land in the UK unlike Thailand ,so how can you legally own land as its forbidden by law. PS TFC gave a website as proof that he "OWNS" his condo with no lease but my reading of the web site is that while he "OWNS" his condo there is still a lease on his condo ,because it clearly says that if you build on land that you do no
  5. what makes you so expert that you call people stupid ,when the facts as stated are quite clear if you don't own the land your building stands on then you cant be a FREEHOLDER.In Thailand you cant as a farang own land so therefor cant be a freeholder. That is the question you have to answer before you call people stupid. If on the other hand you can tell us how we as farangs can own land in our own names (legally and not using bogus companies) then please do so, as you would be a savior to many who want to own their own homes in Pattaya .
  6. Hi Lostinpattaya,TFC may have written a very easy to understand post ,but you have it quite wrong I personaly have owned flats OR as yanks call them Condos and there is two ways to own a condo that is with a lease ,making you a LEASEHOLDER,or with a joint freehold, making you a freeholder .In Thailand farangs can not own LAND in their own name so can not be joint freeholders making them Leaseholders, even TFC himself said he did not own the land his condo stands on ,and ownership of the land makes you a Freeholder nothing else.As for Thailand and UK laws being similar ,Phooey.
  7. to own a property free and clear you need to be the FREEHOLDER that means the person who owns the land that your building stands on if you don't own the land then you are a LEASEHOLDER as you own the building but only rent (lease) the land for as long as the lease lasts. As far as I am aware farangs can not own land in Thailand so can not be FREEHOLDERS.If you building is pulled down because the government wants to put a road through who owns the land ,because I can bet its not you. So the question remains, how long is the usual lease in Thailand. sorry that this post is almost a copy of t
  8. What helpful advice ,I wanted to know how long leases were in Thailand ,and after all these replies I am still no wiser. The standard lease in the UK is 99 years, can someone tell us what the standard (?)is in Thailand .
  9. I cant guarantee full screen TV but this site http://www.ovguide.com/ offers more free TV than you will ever be able to handle
  10. I don't get back for Eight and a half months as I have just got home, from an 11 week stay ,next time it will be a 4 1/2 month stay and I wont have to have such a long break for the following holiday.
  11. I considered Hotel Koenig Mansion for my first trip 4 years ago but eventually went for a flipper on soi 7 so I could have a look around and see what was available ,I personally found the Koenig out of the way(you would need your own bike) and in a not so nice area ,the rooms were small and so was the pool and the manager would not give any reduction for monthly stays.Hotels that are not talked about often are that way because they don't have many fans, and are in the main, best avoided . Ps my hotel of Choice is the Lek on soi 13 and 2nd rd has a large pool ,is right in the thick of the actio
  12. I was told it was ok on my first flight but I did have my card with me at checkin.Just show the girl or guy your card when you check in at the airport .
  13. Hi ,there is the Diana Estate in Soi Buakhow wher prices start at 8000 baht +water and electric per month for the smallerrooms,Quite adequate.but a larger room will cost 10000 baht +services pattayagreentree@hotmail.com This is the email of the agents ,as you are going in Dec the sooner you book the better . There are 2 pools and a small Gym its very clean and you get your room cleaned twice a week INHO the best deal in Pattaya ,good luck. PS the company is called PROPRO and of the 2 on the site is the cheaper
  14. Read the hotels section and look through the very comprehensive list on there.then ask questions.
  15. The massage place under the LEK hotel ,called MK (I think),on 2nd rd is excellent and as far as I know completely straight,(200baht an hour) but when my favourite lady left I found another place just off Soi Chiapoon ,just past the Bowling green and opposite Excite disco the girls there are very good but with little english though they charge only 100baht an hour.
  16. you must eat like a fairy (you know small body big wings)I eat 3 slices and 1 calzone most times and, when roused by the big beast in my belly, 4 slices and a calzone all washed down with a Diet coke, as I am trying to watch my weight.
  17. The black pudding is made in Pattaya by a bloke called Yorkie who also manufactures various sausages scotch eggs and pies. There are a few people who make sausages pies scotch eggs, sausage rolls, and they all source their ingredients locally.
  18. NeeRoys in Soi Chiapoon is a great place to eat and inexpensive even for Pattaya.I would like to add that whilst the buffet at the LEK is inexpensive ,having stayed there for over 4 months I was able to watch what happened to the food over the "hours" it was left in the open air to be crawled over by various bugs and flies.I like the LEK as an Hotel but their buffets leave a lot to be desired as do all the other buffets I have seen in Pattaya.
  19. Another vote for slices in Soi Dianna ,I have unfortunately put on a few pounds all down to slices as could not resist there Pizzas
  20. I know one lad who has been in Pattaya for 10 years +and has gone through his money. He live almost like a Thai and manages "to live" on about 7000baht a month, when I asked why he didn't go home get a job and come back he said no chance as he loved it here even on a pittance.
  21. just over 30 hours until take off still looking to share taxi
  22. Hi Tilcano,I may be a Scot but I live near London (Essex)so Heathrow is my best airport ,Though this year due to price, I am flying from Gatwick
  23. Hi ,You could try the Diana Estates in soi Buakhow they are condos but with twice weekly cleaning and two pools along with a gym there is little better value around as the monthly fee is about 8.500-9500 baht +electric and water which is about 2000 baht if you are a high A/C user and 600-700 if like me you use only a fan most of the time. The email of the agents who are cheapest for the Diana Estates is- pattayagreentree@hotmail.com the place is not new but is great value , try them if you are going to be in town for a longer period
