  1. cause we dont all have the money to throw away on a pointless luxury when it can mean the difference of going to LOS or not
  2. Hi david the advice to phone west east travel is good I use them all the time ,but keep checking the other sites like OPODO and Travelocity just to check prices. the visa you need is a 90 day visa, cant remember the exact name of it at present, but you get it by getting in touch with the Thai embassy(best ones in Hull)search the web for contact details it costs I think £25 +postage and you get it in a few (as little as 3)days but get it well in advance (you can specify the start date) PS west east quoted me £555 for a 4 1/2 month ticket on thai air with no charge for a change to return date starting in april
  3. If you buy it you can make some kids day when you leave and just give him or her a bike, and they do only cost between 2/3000 baht in Big Cs first floor (or if your an American the second floor)
  4. Hi soi 7 a friend of mine(Norman de Mesquite) who is a hockey writer was talking to Gordie one day (a long time ago when they were both younger) and gordie told him a story about the best young rookie that he ever saw in the NHL well this kid was the best thing on skates but unfortunately he used his first big paycheck to buy himself an Indian (motorbike)and after only 3 weeks in the NHL he had a horrific accident where he lost a lot of bone in his arm and was very near death but he did survive and made a very good recovery from what was an horrific injury so after about 3 years he made it back into hockey but with his injury holding him back somwhat he only made the grade in the international league but Gordie said that it was a happy return as he went on to lead the league in short handed goals. Gordie swears that this is true and we all know that Gordie has never spoken an untruth LOL
  5. I spend my whole life in the box or it seems that way
  6. just go to the bottom of the page duh!
  7. a couple of things come to mind first the dianna estates on soi buakouw(near the middle of the soi) these start about 9000baht plus utilities, also there is a building (I forget its name)on soi 13 just above the sportsmans bar that allways seems to have vacant rooms of various sizes these start about 10000baht plus utilities.
  8. The best thing to avoid jet lag is to go to sleep when you feel tired and wake when you are refreshed I know this is easy for me as I dont work at all but I have never had jet lag just long or short sleeps
  9. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...=16013&hl=curry try this link it should answer all your questions
  10. Hi cnkbud I think that you will find that the guesthouses do not have pools and the the hotels that do have pools in the cheap sector,(not many) have very small pools.I dont think that the difference in price of the hotel and guest house is so much that if you want a pool that you will be willing to pay the extra for it as that extra is not much if only for a short holiday. the cost over 2 week would only be from £30to £60 extra depending on the choice of hotel and time of visit
  11. not a bar for the cheap charlies amongst us as I had a plate of fish and chips and a diet coke in there one evening and was charged 490 baht and the cod was crap as well.as far as i am concerned (and cheap charlies like me) there are better bars and better prices than there. and the rugby is on everywhere no worries on that score
  12. If you are worried about not getting a room right away and lugging bags with you ,you should get a room for one night only, and when you have put your bags away, you can then go looking for the cheap rooms (if you dont insist on A/C then they can be had for 300baht and less per night)on soi buakaouw this should not take more than a couple of hours leaving you plenty of time to indulge yourself
  13. many of the small bars and restaurants on soi buakauow(and the adjoining sois) have rooms above them that are for rent a walk around will show you the signs that advertise their rooms and I believe for the most part they are reasonable in the cleanliness respect and are also reasonably priced PS even in the high season they will discount a little for long stays
  14. I understand the travel restrictions but I allways have a bike and if I had a condo I would buy my own bike what I would love to know is how much are these"transfer charges"and what are they
  15. whats wrong with this place as I think that is a very nice pic and the area seems no worse than any other in pattaya, how much are the transfer charges?
  16. why are all the posts (at least the ones I have seen )worrying about illnesses or danger whilst traveling from Americans who don't want to take any chances, when they travel on here its bird flu back in the UK at the hight of the IRA bombings they were to frightened to travel to London, so not a flame just want to know how a country of people that comes from adventurous stock can be so afraid of travel. please real answers only I am truly interested PS I know this doesnt apply to all Americans as some I know are very adventurous
  17. Hi make sure that you take her to the Elephant village just out of town IT is a great day out and you help to support the village people and elephants, The Sanctuary of truth is supposed to be good ,with dolphins you can feed and stroke, mini Siam ,where you can see all the sights in one place and not have to waste your time travelling there is a water park whose name I cant remember but is supposed to be fun for the kids and a day trip to the island of Koh lahn is a great day out as its quiet and beautiful beaches(Samea beach is best IMHO)are much better than the mainland ones, The Aquarium on sukhumvit rd,and the shopping that women, no matter what age, can't resist
  18. Hi i don't really hate you well not much just a little bit when I think of you out there and me stuck here in the cold and damp with you showing off your GF and being in Daves place no sorry I was right the first time I hate you I hate you hate you love and kisses sinbinjack

  20. Hi The Lek is a great hotel but it has 1 small step on the front entrance this will be no problem as there is a doorman on the door 24/7 who will be glad to help you over this small hurdle,it has 2 wings old and new , the old wing is great value (Iwas there 2 months this year at 650baht a night low season) and girl friendly. Depending on the time you are going it will cost you 7/800baht per night with the new wing between 1000/1200baht and IMHO not really worth the extra. The location of the Lek is great 2/250 yd to the beach and a 6/7 min roll to walking st ,but the bars on the doorstep aren't bad and you are in the middle of the action without being in the middle of the noise (a higher floored room facing 2nd rd is quietest) on soi 13 is the Sportsman's restaurant and 2/3 time a week there is a guy in a wheel chair( a pattaya resident) who goes in there with his honey he (if any body knows him get in touch ) would be a great source of information to you if you are in the area. The one drawback at the Lek may be the size of the bathroom doorways and the fact that the bathroom has a small step down but if any boardies are going to the Lek for the buffet and own a tape measure you could be of some help here and as the rooms I used were both baths do they have shower rooms as well, as for laundry there is a laundry service but its price +and as there are 2 laundries within 40 yd that is not a problem. The pool may be a problem as it is accessed by a ladder and is not a walk in and out but I don't know of any other kind in pattaya I know this is a bit of a ramble but thats just the way things occurred to me If you ask i will answer sinbinjack
  21. HI I got 6xl t shirts this year at 230 baht and shorts about 54 waist for 300baht but I am really only 3/4 xl in the UK so as has been said try before you buy
  22. Hi Tengotodo you might get in touch with Emil and go with him on one of his regular trips to Koh Lahrn an island just 40 mins away and only 20 baht each way the beaches on the far side of the island are fabulous and when I went not too crowded. Lamae (think thats right)beach is the best and the food is good and cheap as is the jet ski so you should have a great time on your own or with company (i did both)so PM emil he is I believe in town at the moment and is good company and he introduced me to the Blues factory a place I may never have found if not for him and for that alone I am in his debt PS if you meet tell him I said hi
  23. An enthusiastic BG will wear you out, you should have no need to drug yourself
  24. thanks harry dash I did expect to end up at the diana estates but was just trying to find out about the other options do you know if any of the condos have UBC +sophon or is it only sophon and do any of the rooms have DVDs and one last thing how much do they charge you for utilities sinbinjack
  25. I dont know where some of you guys are from but my guess is that some at least are from Mars the very most I have ever earned was 4 years ago and the year end total was just over £21000(inc overtime) before tax as I am now disabled and cant work i live on £10000 but this includes extras because I am disabled (over£2000 a year)many people live on much less than this and most pensioners get less than £100 a week so get real like it or not not everyone is expecting an easy ride in retirement and an income of £200a week in pattaya might look very interesting to a lot of people
