Sea Me Spring Too (nearly identical, just across the road) might be a better choice. The view is less obstructed by the new hotel at the corner, They have started construction at the small lot that is between Sea Me and the yet unopened hotel on the corner. If this is an issue, it will effect both Sea Me ans Sea Me Too. But Seam Me Too is not as close to the construction.

SEA ME SPRING TOO...........A REVIEW
exwannabe replied to Rickster59's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Same as above, anybody know how bad the construction is on the corner of 10 & beach wrt this and also Sea Me Spring (One)? Hotels are nice (have stayed at each). -
And I have always wondered how Las Vegas stays in business with everybody always winning money at the tables :)

LK Empress Impressions and Photos
exwannabe replied to MC_Ldop's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Do not assume a password on the wifi is providing any real security. Any data leaving your computer is public info regardless of the wifi being well encrypted. Either ensure it is https (or such) leaving you computer, or just assume somebody might be reading over your shoulder.- 15 replies

LK Empress Impressions and Photos
exwannabe replied to MC_Ldop's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
How is the traffic noise? I do like the LK properties, and a hard bed is no problem for me.- 15 replies

They had just started construction on the large lot at Soy 10 and Beach (seperated from Sea Me by a smaller lot on the same side of the soy). I suspect this is a large hotel going up (it has a high construction fence, and the lot is perfect for a really big hotel). So that means pile drving might be starting soon. I really liked the hotel when I stayed there a week ago.
-
Looks like they are finishing up the work right now. Soy 10 has been repaved from beach to Page 10, and they are finishing the last 100 yards right now. I would expect all to be done within a week or two. There is no more heavy construction anyplace on soy 10. BTW, there are 3 new hotels at the beach end. See Me, See Me Too, and Stay Place (or something). It is passable to 2nd road. Worst case is you have to cut through the beer bar complex at the corner on 2nd and soy 10.

I was there for one night about 18 months ago when Tim's did not have my room. . The room was nice, but not large. . The pool area was quite nice. . No joiner fee It is like a slightly more upscale Areca, catering to those who like to spend time at the pool. Some might have an issue with location (fine by me). Overall, as a matter of personal preference I would not stay there again. But if you think this is the type hotel you want there are no surprise negatives in store.

For DL, the website is near useless. You can sometime find an low award ticket (ASIAUS) on it, but it is hard. Normally it will be on the partner airlines (KE,CI,..) where you can find a low award ticket. It is US centric, but this site, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-skymiles-665/ has really good information on using FF miles.

The adjacent structure just east is in that "who knows what is going on" stage where you have various crews tearing out the existing infrastructure. That will not be over anytime soon. The noise will vary. I suspect if you can book a room on the west side it is not an issue. I simply did not notice the state of the construction across the soy (I was at Page 10 and walked down the soy to beach every day). It was not as "busy" as that on the south side of the soy, but I have no idea if it might have any pile-driving or other heavy work planned in the future.

You certainly can get a ticket with this. Do NOT bother with dl.com, it might work once in a century on TPAC flights. Just call in and ask for PARTNER awards. Have them look at CI, MH and VN. Also check KE, but they should do that anyway as they are part of Sky Team. If the rep does not sound like they have the concept, call back later. Some are very good, some have no clue. BTW, flyertalk.com is the place to discuss this type stuff.

Dynamic Currency Conversion
exwannabe replied to The_Fat_Controller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Do you look at the bill before you sign it? If so, whatever you sign is what it is. If they state the number in [your local currency], then it is up to you to decide if the rate is OK. I always settle the day before I leave so I have plenty of time to handle any issues. -
You can book through Agoda and avoid that, but the rate might be a little higher (do not know). The Areca IS an honest outfit, but still I would not like this. Can you get one of those preloaded debit cards and use that?

I think they all have the bath/shower combo (mine did, and the hotel website kind of implies all do). I am with you on this issue, I much prefer the walk in shower.

Just some quick notes if this is the "class" of hotel you want. The Areca right next door is similar. It has 2 ground floor pools (vs a nice rooftop pool at PRB). This is offset by the fact that rooms in the Areca (outside the new wing) are a bit older. The Sabai properties (up north neat the Big C) also have nice ground floor pools and are cheaper, but they are all over the place in quality (some rooms are ancient) so you have to know what you are booking. If you like the price and location of the PBR, then the only other choice I would toss out is Sandy Springs. There are ni

I stayed there about 2 months ago. Certainly quiet, not a single beer bar outside your window. Location is fine, you can walk out through the hotel to Soy Dianna, or go out the back to the back of Adventure Mall. The Evergreen is very new (less than one year open I believe), I have previously stayed at the other wings and they are not as fresh. The pools are a strength of the Areca. If you like that, then book it now. If you could care less about swimming pools, then you can find a bit better value deal if you keep looking. But regardless, you will have no regrets with thi

I have seen the exact same. I think I will take a few looks to see if I can have these "ordered" at BA, or try an AMEX office (both are free for me). BTW, to the poster who claimed different rates for TC vs. ATM (or at least that is what I though he said), they both go at the interbank exchange rate. So it is only the fees that count (along with wrist cramp from having to sign those $100 TCs at the bank).
-
Maybe I got the short straw, but I really did not like my ground floor room in that wing. It was very low, which caused it smell badly of mildew and was kind of dark. I checked out the next day. If I was in that wing I would stay on the second floor. Other than that, I have stayed about 5 times in other rooms across the Sabai properties and not had a regret.

I do not get it. Yes, another drunk farang in Patts acting like an idiot, nothing new here. But I would assume he woke up sober. What would cause him to be so dumb as to go to the police and claim he attacked the baht bus? Seriously, this dude was stupid. Still comes in second to the drunk Aussy kid (maybe 25) who in a fight with a moto-taxi driver was head butting the guy. The taxi guy had a full helmet on.

Do you always Cover up or a BBBJ is what you like?
exwannabe replied to riprip25's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The sopies have covered BJs as a policy, but very uncommon elsewhere. To your other questions, no.and no. And it would be unlikely if you are in good health. I am not certain if this thread belongs in the members sections though (it is free, and they have a 'newby' forum). -
Decent price for people on the west coast of the US
exwannabe replied to PigBoy#1's topic in Airline Discussion
Sh-- happens. I have flown on CI (China Airlines) twice over to BKK (using DL miles) and it was fine. I do prefer EVA though. China Southern might be one of the better mainland China airlines, but call me a skeptic. Once we here many posts saying that this is kool I would consider them. Not worth the risk for a few bucks. -
That is a joke. 15 minutes to Soi Dianna? I could best that on crutches. If you are afraid of that alley next to the Areca, you can just just go through the hotel. "motor taxi's buzzing by around blind corners." Huh? The alley in question is dead straight and has no traffic at all. If you are talking about walking down 15 to 2'nd then that might have a point, but it is a tad easier to walk through the mall. Seriously, the PBR is right behind Adventure Mall which is on 2'nd, and right next to the Areca which is on both 13(Dianna) and 15. And even I could run to 2'nd in unde

Darn it, I would drop in if I was in town. I played as a puppy (got to about 2070 back in 1980 or so). Now I have n clue.Too many beers? .

Getting hit up with a toilet fee
exwannabe replied to short's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I believe you meant to say "a happy crapper" Agreed on the real point, I remember the old toilet at 2nd and Soy 2 just next to the 7-11. I had to take a deep breath before I went in. Paying 5 baht for that was a joke. WRT the poster who talked about lack of TP, in much of of Asia treat TP like an Amex card, never leave home without it.
