First time I ever hear anybody promote a laundry service :-) 2 real questions. What rate for the rooms, and how would you compare them to day Tim's and Areaca. Thanks

pasadena lodge soi lk metro.

I stayed there 2 weeks in Nov., in one of the delux room facing front. Room is very nice, and service was always exceptional. The big question would be for the side rooms that face the new building going up behind it. I like a lot of light comming in from my windows, therefore have question about these rooms (unless high enough). I would happily stay in one of the delux rooms, even at the high season rack rate of B.1500 (which I doubt you need to pay). If you don't care what's outside your window, then the other rooms are probbaly quite nice. No pool. Does have in-room safe, good TV+DVD. Aircon is fine. -
LK Renaissance - special pricing
exwannabe replied to MM's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Yes, though I never took 2 girls on this trip. -
I'm in the middle of my 16'th trip here (th) and am quite anal about airline ticket value (including miles and given that I will not cross the Pacific in economy). The two best value choices are almost always EVA (if Delux is OK by you) or CI. For biz class it's about a tie. I have had no problem using my EVA miles for both a new ticket and an upgrade, but I'd plan carefully. This trip was made on short notice (1 week) and the Delux ticket on a 747 cost $1080 rt from SFO all in. Not a bad price. If I fly biz, can get a ticket for about $2000 on either EVA or CI as long as fly BKK->USA->BKK as normal. I have not yet tried flying trans-pac on the 777 exec economy, I know it will not be as good as in the 747.

LK Renaissance - special pricing

Prices have gone up a little (the sign outside has now says 40% off). I am paying B2500 for a very nice suite on the 4th floor. A really nice hotel. I will probably will not stay there again after the pices go up (because I am semi-cheap), but if you want a nice upscale hotel in this area it's a fine choice. There's no real problem I have with it. I just left Tim's Boutique Hotel which also was quite nice. The rack rates for Tim's are absurd, but if you get them down to something reasonable (I paid 2080b a night for a standard room), it's a nice place and worth the money. -
Just booked a trip on 1 day notice next week for $1050US RT out of SFO on EVA Delux, not bad especially w/o being able to shop times. And 26 hours? Sorry I have no sympathy. Traveling out of Atlanta at then end of a full work day. Door to door it's more like 33 hours (and that's starting from the end of a work day). But worth every minute of it

Any suggestions in particular for a good agency that can handle a complex international flight (multi airlines combinations)?

The delux side faces towards the bay, it isn't on beach road. What I mean by this is I don't know where the construction is relative to the rooms. The poster said the construction was on 4th (behind the hotel) so try and get a room towards the front (soy 5, which is fairly quite). There was no noise problem when I was there, but things change VERY fast in Pattaya.

I stayed there for 2-1/2 weeks last Nov. and thought it was very good. New hotel, clean, everything worked, good breakfeast, etc. There is a safe in the room. There is no joiner fee, I did bring back 2 girls once or twice. Only negative was that the pool was a little small with no sun 'till noon. The Delux rooms are the same as the Standard rooms but face towards the bay with a decent view, while the Standard rooms view is of an apartment building 20-30 meters away. The location is kind of quiet. if you like to walk a few blocks (which I do) it is very good as it's within walking distance to both Soy 2 (with the nig C, bars, soapies) and soy 6.

Anybody try this pace yet?

My last trip (Nov) I almost wanted to wear earplugs in Living Dolls 1 (along with several other go-go's). This trip (been in town 2 weeks), I love the music you'r dj plays. Well done :-)

OK, girls decline BFs all the time and that is quite right. But I have yet to find a single girl who would turn down a drink, and I have tested this on about every girl in your bar (though some don't drink alcahol, it that's what you mean). On topic though, if the girl must leave before around 11 or 12 she should let the guy know. If the guy plans on keeping her out 'till 5AM and exepecting her to wake up with him at 4PM, then he should let her know that's what he expects. Though I must admit the reverse is more of a problem, the girl who is going sleep in even after the morning fun and you are going out. A good A/C works great in this case.

For biz class, somewhere around $1000 though either Taiwan (Eva Air-BR or China Air-CI) or Korea (Asiana and maybe Korean). For coach, I would guess about $350, same routes. You also have an economy delux on EVA, about $600 [All prices are w/o looking] Some codeshares are available if you want miles. Korean Air and China Air are Delta and EVA is Continental. PS, do you really want to do this? Prices are cheaper buying tickets BKK->LAX->BKK than the other way. So if you have multiple trips, you might think of options.

They also have free WiFI available, very usefull for me as I could get 1 to 2 hours of work done while having lunch over a few beers. They also run a golf outing every week if one cares.

Best Beach Villa (Soy 5 half way between beach and 2nd) is in the same class as the Areca (and the afore mentioned Bella Villa Prima). The exercise room has some aerobic machines, a mutli-function weight machine (some weird contraption that you use from all four sides for various workouts), free weights and some misc. stuff. Not much, but few others used it so it was OK. Stayed there 2-1/2 weeks last month and thought the hotel was fine. 1 year old, excellent staff. Pool is shaded before noon and the deck is a little small. Rooms are fine, large, clean with safe. If you want privacy outside your window get a delux room (else you stare into an aparment building next door). Breakfeast was excellent. [[ Beds are quite firm, which I like, but some might have an issue]]

You got me there. Me right now in transit the lounge in Tapei. On arivial in SFO in a few weeks I hope the custums boys arn't sharp enough to use before and after pictures.

About 12 trips BKK->LAX/SFO the last 3 years, just one casual search. Sitting in the SFO EVA lounge right now on the way back to LOS, customs is the last thing on my mind. What does a monger look like?

Warning/ and or information desired

Just go to the places where the insects are served live and you don't have to worry. -
I have never been there, but the roof of Mike's Mall (the one around Soy 11) has a large public pool.

Robbed in sabai lodge wing
exwannabe replied to vikingprince's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
A true shame, I have stayed at the Sabai Wing 4 or 5 times and obviously like it. Good decision to keep the wallet/cash/passport in the safe even w/o a girl. If you are serious about hotel recs, the comporable places in my book are: . Bella Villa Prima . Areca . Sandy Spring And hopefully the place I am trying for the frst time this Nov, Best Beach Villa on soy 5 (my reason for looking around is that they keep rasing the rates at the Sabai). -
I have made about 10 trips and feel it's about the safest place I can go. And the "common sense" required isn't very much. . Don't pass out drunk on beach rd at 4 AM and expect to wake up with your wallet. . Don't try and start bar fights. Assuming you are not the type to have the above type issues, the only problem you might encounter is the occasional minor theft/scam stuff (I never have, but others on this board have). Enjoy you'r trip

For me it is better to use my miles for a free ticket, as I don't want to ever risk being stuck in coach if I can't upgrade. I have used one free RT ticket and 2 upgrades. The process is trivial, go to http://www.evaair.com/html/b2c/english/clu...am/Award_Ticket And hit the "Award tickets" link. Once they start flying with the newer seats, you might want to use your mile for a Premium Laural seat, that's my plan.
-
I am quite happy with the 777 Premium Laural seats, better than the 747 Biz class. But I am somewhat nervous about crossing the Pacific in a smaller seat than ED. Starting in summer of '07 EVA will be replacing all 747 interiors. Expect the same seats as the 777, though maybe (hopefully) they will keep EE cabin in the nose with the same seating configuration (and 27D or G is MY seat )

QUESTIONS FROM A NEWBIE
exwannabe replied to delontec263's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Neither I nor anybody I know has stayed at the Globetrotter, but I would suspect it is guest friendly based on location and not being a luxury hotel. This time of year if you have any problem, just move hotels. Plenty of empty rooms are available in June.
