  1. k; after reviewing all the commonents before my last trip in march/april, I had decieded on EP. I had to meet a friend in bkk so I stayed there the first few nights before heading to pattaya. ended up taking the free van to pattaya from the dystiny which required a two night stay in pattaya Dynesty so I did, which gave me two days to check out a few hotels. I might of stayed at the dynesty(soi 13) but they where a little high at 1k per night. I looked at all the soi 8/7 hotels, and although nice one review stuck in my mind on someone who had stayed at the flipper, "don't barfine any girl
  2. past residence towards jotlien . the bus goes by it
  3. thanks hoss; little cheaper then the all asia pass which is $999 and for only 21 days instead of 1 month like this is, to bad it don't include PI
  4. haven't stayed at the one in bkk but did take the free van down to pattaya and stayed at the dynesity on soi 13 for the required two nights. the location of the bkk one is excellent and the lobby and resturant apearred clean and nice. the price is ok for bkk. I did not stay at the one in pattay because 1k is a little much for pattaya and the one in bkk doesn't have a pool. the van is the best transportation I've ever had. the guy drives it every day and knows every short cut and exit.
  5. wombat I love ya man just not as much as the LBFM's
  6. really helps having "elite" status. always select ile seating in the two seat emergency row. because I am over 2 meters in hieght I'm wondering if they are foing to also impose a added "volume tax"

    all asia pass

I am a cyber menber of cathay. do you have to "pre book" flights once in HK or can you just go to the ticket counter once your in Asia?
  9. is anyone familiar with cathay's all asia pass? r/t ticket from west coast to hong kong and 21 days of unlimited travel to/from select cities in asia. wondering if anyone has ever done this and if there is much of a hassle getting seating. personally thinking using it around christmas, stop in hk for a day of two, go to singapore for a day or two then to batan for a few days and then to ac-pi for a week and then the rest of the time in pattaya. any comments aprreciated thinking of it as a lbfm smorgasboard
  10. I agree, spend a couple days or the weekend in BKK when you get in and get a feel of things, I always go solo and enjoy the freedom of not having to "coordinate" activites, just go do it. then head down to pattaya and experiance the liberation of being out of the big city. no worries, you find there arnt enough hours in the day or enough days in your holiday or that you've had to many tg's so don't hold back, because as one friend told me, " I thought I need to take a day off, boy was that stupid"
  11. was hopeing tom cruise would be doing a scientoligy cameo
  12. it's funny , I only have one option from MSP-BKK, NW to keep the travel time under one day. I'ld rate the MSP-NRT a 1 star at best, but when we get rid of the 30yr+ flight crew and get the NRT-BKK crew of thai girls it goes to3+ stars.
  13. there were a few on liberty when I was there 1-12 apr. very easy to spot, shorts, no shirt and a back pack. unlike when I was their age on leave/pass, they are generally well behaived, of course none of them have been drafted or "court ordered" into the service! :) they didn't seem to make much of an impact and stay around walking street.
  14. totally; pattaya beach deal with fat topless white women coral islanddeal with the hawkers who are more obnoxious then a 50 year old ggg after a lady drink jomthien beach, nice enough but sometimes overun with russian families it's always nice to take a tg over to the beaches, makes em feel good
  15. peronally my favorite spot before noon is don on soi 3 the kong beer bar and rooms for rent. after 2pm most beer bars down on walking street are open and a few on soi 7&8 of coures the Far east and Tahitian queen go-go's open earlier than that. hope you can wake your TG up that early!!!! getting them rolling before noon can be tricky!
  16. after my run on the beach I head to the Lek Hotel's 95 Baht breakfeast buffet on Soi 13. it has "brewed" coffee, all you can drink included. depending on your hotel pool a couple hours watching the interaction of the cultures around the pool and its time to take in a massage. a little street vendor food and it's time to hit one or two of the early go-gos- Far East or Tahihian Queen if you like rock and roll in the early afternoon as I do or there are others, on Soi 13/3 , 13/4. a little wondering around and hit a few beer bars and get in the connect four and dice with an ocational jinga th
  17. water!!! what the hell are you drinking water for, Singhi cheap enought for brushing your teeth and making coffee. hell I shower with it during happy hour. depnding on your "system" there really isn't any problems with most reasonable hotel water or ice (cubed-not shaved). at 5baht a lt. bottled water is just convenent to have and most rooms provide a couple complimentry.
  18. "when in roma" having been stationed in eastern europe your not missing anything.
  19. does anyone have any info on the "b" wing of sawasdee seaview? cann't seem to find anything in the reviews section. sounds like it's a new section to seaview. tanks and close air support
  20. I voted no but do like hungairian food and have been to buda and pescht, but the thai seafood in patt cann't be beat. as for the gyros/donners the only place I've found them is a little stand on walking street just under the Polo go-go bar. they don't open until 1900 or 2000hrs but are open till 0200 wait a minute, they maybe under the disc, one of the two. they only have chicken, no beef or lamb, but a very nice hot sauce
  21. does anyone know of any thai cooking schools like they have in Bangkok in funtown? would like to spend a few afternoons improving my thai cooking skills as I am expected to cook thai back here and I'm running out of dishes I know how to prepare. I'll be back in pattaya on or about 27 march 04 for a couple of weeks. tanks and close air support
