Definitely get in touch with Doghaus, a board member here. He runs Solar Golf, a golf tourism company, and has outings scheduled several times a week pretty much year-round. The players in his outings are usually a mix of ex-pats and vacationers, and always really fun group of people to spend time with.

Correct, the "scotch" in his rocks glass was always just apple juice. Cute joke, though.

Thirty? Thirty??? Jeez, my beard is older than that! I have scars older than 30, for that matter! Still, have a great birthday, and I wish I could there to help you celebrate! -
RideHer Cup 2008 open for entries

Look at it on the bright side: at least this time you won't have to help me pry my golf clubs out of a wrecked car this year! -
I'm coming back in November for 3 weeks and just booked part of the trip. I go via China Airlines out of SFO and have found that if I book it as 2 separate 1-way trips I save money over what the round trip fare would have been. Don't ask me why because I don't know; it just works out that way. So, I booked my return flight from BKK to SFO. Because the point of origin is BKK the fare was priced on CI's web site in baht. I decided to gamble on either the dollar strengthening a bit in the next couple of months or the baht weakening, either of which would result in a higher fare in the dollars equivalent for that leg when that happens. CI's fares do seem to fluctuate quite a bit in the months leading up to a trip, so I'm holding off on the outbound flight and monitoring the prices.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Finally, some authoritative answers to this age-old question! BARACK OBAMA: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE! JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road. HILLARY CLINTON: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me....... DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE' of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems. OPRAH: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens. GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here. COLIN POWELL: Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road... ANDERSON COOPER - CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road. JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks. PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American. MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information. DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told. ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain. Alone. GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough. BARBARA WALTERS: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road. ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road. JOHN LENNON: Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace. BILL GATES: I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Chicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% .......... reboot. ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken? BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken? ALGORE: I invented the chicken! COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one? DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun? AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens!

Priceless! I just forwarded to a bunch of friends, several of whom are vets and over 60! -
Good to hear that you've landed a new gig somewhere, Ricky. Unfortunately I appear to be about 2 weeks late since I returned to falangland last weekend. Oh, well, just have to make it a point to drop in when I'm back in November.

Good hear that the first month has been so successful -- great work, Pete! I'm glad I was able to stop in on several occasions on my recent trip, and I definitely enjoyed the place. -
A couple of my own favorites to add to the list . . . . 30. Nine out of ten voices in my head are telling me to go home and clean my guns. 31. I'm sorry, but my powers can only be used for good.

I and a few others were at an adjacent table when this picture was taken. It's a pity you don't have a pic from when she was standing; that was quite a spectacular sight as I recall! -
Looks pretty impressive -- nice work!

Bring me the head of Peter Norton!!
Mescalito replied to Mescalito's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Life has now returned to normal. I removed Norton, then downloaded and installed CyberDefender. It downloaded and installed in a matter of minutes, runs quickly and efficiently and most important to me, my laptop is no longer running like a 286 on Valium! -
I make my trips out of SFO, too. I've found China Airlines to have the best fares, and for some reason I save some money by booking the trip via their web site as two separate 1-way itineraries. Booking it that way usually costs me about 20% less than what I'd have paid if I booked it as a round-trip. Don't ask me why that happens, it just does and I'm not complaining.
-
I just "upgraded", if you can call it that, to Norton 360 v2. To summarize: It took more than 2 freakin' hours for it to download and install, and even after all that I still wasn't sure if it was done; it just sort of stopped doing stuff. I started running the scans this evening after I got home from work, and for each section it takes at least five minutes of saying "Starting" before it actually starts to do something. I tried to pause or cancel it several times and it wouldn't. In fact, it disabled Task Manager so I couldn't shut it down that way, and locked up the other apps I had running so I couldn't close them down either. In fact, the only thing I could do was unplug my laptop from the outlet as well as pull out the battery Let's see if at least the uninstall utility works.

One BM I know (who lives in LOS full-time now) stayed there on every trip and had very good things to say about it. I've never stayed there myself but have checked out the property and the rooms and thought it was quite good, especially for the price.

Pattaya Beer Garden – Progress Report
Mescalito replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
This is really looking fantastic, Pete. Who did the design work? It looks great. Since I arrive on May 3rd for a 2 week stay I'll make sure to pay a few visits. -
I wear the usual baseball cap style golf hat for golf, but for general wandering around at length I tend to go with a boonie hat:

Hi, Sailfast! And how long has it been since you're last cameltoe? Now of some of the more creative types here can come up with a cameltoe version of the Serenity Prayer we're all set!

I'm almost always on CI out of San Francisco via Taipei. I have found that if I book my trip as 2 separate 1-way trips I actually save about 20% over what the fare would have been had I booked it as a round trip ticket. I also book it directly via their web site instead of going through Orbitz, Expedia, Kayak, etc.

Party at Catz Thursday 20th March.
Mescalito replied to HILLY's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Great pix and it looks like a grand time was had by all (No surprise there). Sorry I couldn't be there to join in the festivities, but it's now 6 weeks and counting. Maybe sooner if I get any more fed up with this client of mine and decide to bail out early. -
I'm reminded of one of the variations on the "3 biggest lies" joke . . . "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."
