Since you don't have your ticket yet, it would be a good idea to hold off until Sept to go, the prices will drop. Just use the EVA website to check out the fares until you find when they drop off and book that way.

it is often stated to get a place for a night or two and then find another. But who really wants to spend time in Pattaya doing a tour of various hotels? I don't, and frankly never would find the time. Just read over some of the reviews in this section and in the hotel review section. Also spend some time reading the trip report section to see where other guys stay. Pick a place in a decent location, that is GF that has gotten some good reviews and just line it up ahead of time. Then you can spend your time in Pattaya enjoying it's pleasures and not tramping around looking at hotels and moving etc...

The Soi Beukao (sp?) area has gotten a lot of press lately in terms of decent places to stay on the cheap.

many airlines will let you buy miles if you are just a bit short of the number you need. But other wise, i think just hold onto them until you go over the top for the free tickets

I totally agree with this. I have only stayed in the Deluxe rooms and always thought they were a good value, esp when you factor in the great bfast buffet as cowboy mentioned. I always stay at the Nana for a few nights when i first arrive, just to dive headlong into the fun. the disco in the hotel is also an extememely target rich environment. But they have really jacked up the entrance fee. The trick to beat that is to get a drink from the bar that is just before the entrance and set up shop on the couches and see the ladies as they walk in. I have grabbed a couple of cuties on their way in and taken them up to the room. By the time we were done playing, it was time to hit the CarPark for round 2 ( or 3 as the case may be)!! then after a few days I move to hotel like Swiss Grottino or Town Lodge and tell my Thai friends I have just arrived!

many guys like hotels on Soi 13 since it splits the distance between Walking street and Soi7/8. As stated above check out the hotel review section for the comprehensive list. It breaks then down by prices, which is helpful.

I need to do more indoor shopping next trip.

All I know is that everytime I walk past an optomitry shop there it is stafed by 2-3 cute girls looking hot in their uniforms. Makes me want to get an exam of sorts.

I am a silver card holder on EVA. Will that get me into the lounge at Taipei? I haven't tried to use the lounges before.

Thai BGs may not be whores in the current Western sense of the word to us, but to the Thais they are no different.

I'm not sure how many tourists will head to Pattaya for the World Cup with the time difference to consider, but you shouldn't have any problem going to Pattaya w/o a reservation and finding a place. But it is worthwhile IMO to look through the places on the review section and make plans ahead of time just to not have to bother with the hassle. I wouldn't really want to spend time looking at different places trying to decide where to stay on my visit. just pick a place and in the course of your trip look at different places to consider for next time.

I am really shocked to find a Tim related hotel having a joiner fee. Maybe it is waived for a girls from Tim Beerbae/GoGo?

Made in Thailand is a great spot for finding stuff for XXL and above sized guys.

Tourists are by and large extremely safe. As has been said, if you put yourself in a position or situation that would be dangerous at home, expect the worst.

I agree with dotcom that a morning/afternoon arrival is key. I don't sleep much on the long flights and flying with EVA or Cathay Pacific, I have arrived at around noon. I stay up nailing a few girls until about 1AM and then sleep. I find i go right on Thai time that way. Getting in at 1AM and then on the street by 2AM or later with the subsequent partying and screwing and finally crashing at 5-6AM is just begging to have your inner clock screwed up for days.

I wasn't able to book my seats on line, but when i got to SFO at the counter the girl at the counter hooked me up with an exit row aisle seat to Taipei. I couldn't have had more space sitting at home!! On the way back I could only get that seat on the BKK to Taipei.

I'm surprised that with all the guys who say they fly EVA Evergreen Deluxe every time that no one has gotten free trips from all the miles and can describe how to line that up. I'll be on my 3rd EVA trip in a year coming up and wonder whether to go for upgrades via miles or hold out for a free ticket.
