  1. I mentioned in an earlier trip report this year chatting up an Indian lady in Pattaya Tai. I thought that she was a business person and not on the game. She wore sari and was quite attractive. I was knocked out when she told me,in response to "Where do you work?" "Beach Road"! We had a smile and laugh and headed off in different directions. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  2. One of my problems with this post is that I am sure that Indian visitors to Pattaya act differently to how they act as home. Just a couple of weeks ago I walked around the Arab area. The drums were beating and behind the screens the bottles of Black Label and Chivas Regal were being slurped. I am sure that many Indian guys take advantage of the laid back Pattaya life in the same way that others do. Perhaps the OP might like to tell us if Indians go to Hell for having sex with girls who have been eating pork or beef? Remember that they won't even eat food prepared in pans used for cooking non c
  3. Funny thing. I walked past Buakhao market yesterday and it was all gone. All I could imagine was that it had moved to a new place or turn over was too low to sustain the place. Thanks for the heads up. Everyone that tried it seems to like it. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  4. I was of the belief that the visa had to stay with the passport. They used to be stapled but that seems to have stopped. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  5. We were still marvelling at the printing press!
  6. While this scam does not affect me I recall the following. On leaving school I was an apprentice in a garage. Part of the job was to gas cars up at times. Some of the pumps simply did not return to zero on occasion. I recall the horror when this happened and the nightmare trying to make good. I am sure that this is a scam but it was a simple mechanical problem in my case. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  7. The best way to see the policy would be for you to download the document from Allianz. It is called Premium Card Travel Insurance. The age details are on page 8 entitled Schedule of Compensation. Let me know if there is a problem and could probably email it to you.
  8. I will look on my PC tomorrow. I am reading from the booklet that the bank supplied. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  9. Hi there Peter. Yes. You are correct with the spelling. The age limits are right at the top of the Schedule of compensation. It is broken into 2 groups. Up to 75 and 75 to 89. In essence you can get cover till you are 90 however you have to do an assessment every time that you travel and their computer spits out an instant answer. Yes or no. If you use this, sit down well ahead of time and list all your medical history from day one. They (theoretically) required the lot. Once you have it sorted the first time then you will have the written contract to read off every time that you renew. Note t
  10. Hi there and thanks for comments. The insurance company is Alliance. This is an Australian company. Back to my claim. What also made this special was that once submitted they also phoned me to update progress. Very efficient. As a further matter of interest before making my claim I phoned them. They offered me advice on how to get the best results from making the claim. Like others I was suspicious but it was fine. Also remember that I do most of my banking through the same bank and I believe that it gives me some leverage. Ok, I did not claim against the medical sections but then again this i

  12. Have a walk up Soi Lengkee and the market end of Soi Buakhao perhaps you will be surprised.
  13. Great start to my day once again. Sad about the Pheromone. Just discovered it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it but this is Pattaya. Perhaps it will reopen as the Stinking Pig or whatever. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  14. I have now passed the age where I was getting travel insurance on my Platinum card for free. Over 75 in other words. I now pay the equivalent of £75 a trip with a declaration of pre existing conditions. I also get my card half price because of my age. I claimed against the policy earlier this year and was paid in less than a week. I am quite happy with this arrangement and suggest that your banks might have a similar system and if so it could be worth checking out. I know that some people are wary of something that is free but I have paid zero dollars travel insurance for the last few years an
  15. I have a similar experience to Jacko with the Lek. Good location but after one stay I never went back. The rooms on the lower floors were ho hum and the breakfast was never hotter than lukewarm. The pool is hit and miss but I spent some reasonably happy hours there. There will have been changes but the one thing that I recall was that the better rooms were on the highest floors on the pool side. Best luck!
  16. Only guessing but I think that there are dozens of internet sites better equipped to answer the question better than this forum. The vast majority of punters stay in much less splendid places. Sure, there are a few Hilton /Avanti punters but do you want to know about the beds, rooms, service, possible joiner fees, swimming pool, food or simply having a good time at a reasonable price? 17. I enjoy so many places in Soi Buakhao that they are too numerous to mention. Starting at the New Plaza end and heading off to the big market there are dozens of places to watch the world go by at very reasonable prices. There are a lot of places in the 55 /65 baht range for SML. Add Soi LK from say 5.30pm and you really don't need anywhere else. I will however give an honorable mention to Soi 6 for watching the sun go down and the libido go up! Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  18. Over the years I have been left behind, held over in transit, late, early and all points in between. I will however say that I put in a written complaint for the last four crap flights where I thought that the airline could have done better. I got some restitution on three of these. Only Qantas failed to respond. I have had some great flights due to upgrades but if heading home I usually would have my car parked up cutting back on the free champers! So sad when that happens. 19. Great start to my day one again. Thanks for taking the time.
  20. Thanks for the invite Adam. Sadly I will have to miss this one but I will hoist an ale in memory of some great times.
  21. What about 39P? What about the $us at 29. What about... I could go on but try to equate the value of the Thai holiday with whatever is the second best. Take a big breath and answer your own question. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  22. Answer to the question. Just unlucky. Almost every baht bus has someone hanging out the back. I have never seen anyone done but in Thailand it is the exception that is the rule.. Have a seat if it is possible and forget about the silly stuff. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

  24. This is one of those Catch 22 questions. Here has been my experience for the last few years. I would book direct whenever I could but as you may be aware the Flight Centre has a 'Best price' policy. I spend a few days trawling the internet looking for the best deals and then copy and paste to my agent. They have never turned down a potential booking. The bottom line is therefore: I get what I believe to be the best price. I have a real person to talk to if I need advice or if there is a screw up. Because I am a regular booker they havnt invoked the 1.5% credit card fee. This is impor
  25. One thing that I have realised about English is that it is just as tonal as Thai. The entire sense of a word or sentence can alter on the curl of a lip, twich of an eye and by raising or lowering the volume or accentuation.
