  1. Great start to my day once again. Sad about the Pheromone. Just discovered it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it but this is Pattaya. Perhaps it will reopen as the Stinking Pig or whatever. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  2. I have now passed the age where I was getting travel insurance on my Platinum card for free. Over 75 in other words. I now pay the equivalent of £75 a trip with a declaration of pre existing conditions. I also get my card half price because of my age. I claimed against the policy earlier this year and was paid in less than a week. I am quite happy with this arrangement and suggest that your banks might have a similar system and if so it could be worth checking out. I know that some people are wary of something that is free but I have paid zero dollars travel insurance for the last few years and the new system due to age doesn't bother me. 3. I have a similar experience to Jacko with the Lek. Good location but after one stay I never went back. The rooms on the lower floors were ho hum and the breakfast was never hotter than lukewarm. The pool is hit and miss but I spent some reasonably happy hours there. There will have been changes but the one thing that I recall was that the better rooms were on the highest floors on the pool side. Best luck!
  4. Only guessing but I think that there are dozens of internet sites better equipped to answer the question better than this forum. The vast majority of punters stay in much less splendid places. Sure, there are a few Hilton /Avanti punters but do you want to know about the beds, rooms, service, possible joiner fees, swimming pool, food or simply having a good time at a reasonable price? 5. I enjoy so many places in Soi Buakhao that they are too numerous to mention. Starting at the New Plaza end and heading off to the big market there are dozens of places to watch the world go by at very reasonable prices. There are a lot of places in the 55 /65 baht range for SML. Add Soi LK from say 5.30pm and you really don't need anywhere else. I will however give an honorable mention to Soi 6 for watching the sun go down and the libido go up! Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  6. Over the years I have been left behind, held over in transit, late, early and all points in between. I will however say that I put in a written complaint for the last four crap flights where I thought that the airline could have done better. I got some restitution on three of these. Only Qantas failed to respond. I have had some great flights due to upgrades but if heading home I usually would have my car parked up cutting back on the free champers! So sad when that happens. 7. Great start to my day one again. Thanks for taking the time.
  8. Thanks for the invite Adam. Sadly I will have to miss this one but I will hoist an ale in memory of some great times.
  9. What about 39P? What about the $us at 29. What about... I could go on but try to equate the value of the Thai holiday with whatever is the second best. Take a big breath and answer your own question. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  10. Answer to the question. Just unlucky. Almost every baht bus has someone hanging out the back. I have never seen anyone done but in Thailand it is the exception that is the rule.. Have a seat if it is possible and forget about the silly stuff. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  11. PT Taxi have a Web siteincluding prices Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  12. This is one of those Catch 22 questions. Here has been my experience for the last few years. I would book direct whenever I could but as you may be aware the Flight Centre has a 'Best price' policy. I spend a few days trawling the internet looking for the best deals and then copy and paste to my agent. They have never turned down a potential booking. The bottom line is therefore: I get what I believe to be the best price. I have a real person to talk to if I need advice or if there is a screw up. Because I am a regular booker they havnt invoked the 1.5% credit card fee. This is important as I use Platinum card travel insurance. This outfit is the only one to have an office at my international airport and when things got pear shaped this is a blessing. Bit of a stretch but I am a real person at my agents rather than a number in Internetland. I really have no reason to do otherwise and would be happy for someone to tell me where I can get a better deal.
  13. One thing that I have realised about English is that it is just as tonal as Thai. The entire sense of a word or sentence can alter on the curl of a lip, twich of an eye and by raising or lowering the volume or accentuation.
  14. Good response. I will say this about the TURPS procedure. There has been a lot written here about new or experimentsl procedures. As will all medicine many things improve over the years and good luck to anyone who get cutting edge help. The thing to remember here is that, as your GP and surgeon will tell you "You will know when the time is right". In other words there will be a time when you bite the bullet and get the gold standard as it exists now and dont put things off for some possible improvement thhat might never happen or may not be available where you live.
  15. Arrived two days ago and concluded that the best way to handle the phone issue is to call into AIS at the airport and talk it over. The plans are forever changing and what was right in the past might not be now. For instance I use my phone for a Hotspot for this computer and other phones. Its a simple two minute transaction to get a plan, pay some money that covers a top up for the phone as well as 30 day coverage.
  16. The new bars at the top end of MIT back onto Treetown. I was wondering if this was part of the plan that these bars would eventually become part of the development.
  17. Remember that the topic was TURPS. Turps is not cancer. It is the result of a normal aging process. Anyone with prostate issues will most likely have been checked, tested and dosed with pills long before an operation is performed. Divorce the two issues and remember that one issue does not have to be associated with the other. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  18. Wow! As you say, time flies especially when you are having a good time. Sorry but I will miss this by a few days but will hoist a beer or three. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  19. Other than the service ladies, no. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  20. Yes it is simply a bar/restaurant. It fronts onto Soi Buakhao. The outdoor seating is very comfortable colonial cane. It is dead! Almost no customers. It sells all beers all night for 85 baht. The band is very good and plays mainly rock. Poor bugger belt it out all night for the flies. All the foregoing was correct 5/6 weeks ago and unless the place has closed or the band buggered off it will be the same now. One other thing is that it shares a communal toilet that requires you to walk around the building block. I had someone follow me to make sure that I didn't leave owing my 85 baht! If you simply want to see the night people pass down Soi Buakhao then this is a good place but you will be drinking alone. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  21. Interesting! Do you use the Cebu website or some other site? I would like a long weekend there but not paying over the odds to get there and back Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
  22. My luggage got lost and I was advised to go to the office just across from Immigration. In my case my luggage had been sent to Bangkok but I had to stay in Melbourne. I was advised that they had no knowledge of it and myself and two others in the same position were gutted. On a hunch I went for a walk outside the office and found all of our baggage. I admit that I am one of those people who like garish suit cases with multi colored straps and because mine was easy to spot I ended up knowing what the officials didn't. There is a message here. 23. We are not talking about an intrusion. What worries me is anyone who has had the none peeing problems traveling. It is bloody painful as well as dangerous and the chance of getting an infection from a catheter is quite high. The problem is that there is no one solution fits all for the problem. Like yourself I have been there and while my experience is different from yours I still suggest that anyone who has doubts about travel simply doesn't till they have a permanent solution.
