Tourist Sites at and around Pattaya.
teelack replied to blue_flag's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This subject reminds me of a story from some years ago. I bought a young guy who is a relative of mine to Pattaya. By day two he had settled in with a gogo dancer who was something special. They just cut themselves off from the world. Shortly before he was due to leave for home he came to see me. He was worried that he had no photos of his trip to share with the family. So I suggested a day trip to Bangkok. Off we went to visit temples, reclining Buddhas, palaces, Chatuchak etc. Everywhere we went I photographed. We had agreed to meet the cab at the Nana hotel and ended up in the plaza via Patpong. Less culture. More beer and ladies. Not sure what the family though of his photographic essay but that was all the culture and sightseeing he wanted or needed. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk -

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise his existed. I note that after all the photos I have uploaded I have only used 15 % of my quota. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Why you may think Thais are stupid
teelack replied to PattayaPete's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Actually, as far as I can tell this is a worldwide situation caused by mobile phone addiction. I somehow think however that they may lead the world in phone use while riding their motor bikes. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk -
I went to the zoo the other day and saw a baguette in a cage. I asked the zookeeper what is that. He said it was bread in captivity Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Why you may think Thais are stupid

If there is one thing that I think Thai ladies are brilliant at it is this. OK, you are sitting there in a bar or club. Last night when you were there with the lady love of your life she scared you a little because "Bugger! She's falling in love with me". Everything was smoochy, romantic and bloody sexy. Now it's tonight. There she is but sitting with another guy. Shock! Horror! She is nibbling his ear, kissing, fondling and they look like a very happy couple. She won't even acknowledge your humble existence. I trot out my version of Nakh sadeng ying, actress, when I see her again but really she deserves an Oscar for the performance she delivers night after night. I sort of see it as a "One Man Woman" : at a time, that is. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk -

Looking back through the topic I am intrigued. So much so that I Googled the topic of “The company we keep “. If the Thai's are so dopey and stupid why do so many of us pursue and pay for their company. Who is the stupid one? Sent from my CPH2477 using Tapatalk -

I guess that the question that follows your comments is why bother coming here? Interestingly sites such as this were full reports of stupid Brits during Songkran trying to knock people off their scooters with water cannon. Sent from my CPH2477 using Tapatalk -
As many used to say, Sky Slops was well named. Only ran into him once and he seemed to be one of those people who is impossible to offend. He got bonus points for that. Those points were deducted by anyone taking his word that Sky Tops was quality accommodation and had a crap holiday. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Good question. Like many other I have a dozen or so Lonely Planet books. Since Covid however I think that these are probably useless. Like you, I find so much information on YouTube predates Covid and is also useless. The more reviews here, the better for everyone. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Prior to Covid there were agency offices in the airport and I always used an agent who had an office there. This really worked out well when I had a couple of problems that needed immediate sorting. Covid swept that away and since then I have only used on line platforms. Here is the result. Some have been great to deal with and very easy to contact. Some have been total rubbish and I would never use them again. All fares have been substantially cheaper than the present rates direct from agents. This is just another case of prior research and asking the hard questions before committing to them. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Early next week I will be transiting through Pudong, Shanghai airport, terminal 1 I admit that I didn't check the place out prior to booking. I have about maybe 3 hours to waste prior to boarding and its early morning. Lounge 36 is 250 Yuan for 2 hours and most reviews are dire. Can I get food and coffee in the terminal, and should I change money before I go, or can I / should I use my credit card? Any comments appreciated.

My first impression when I read this was that the place wasn't suitable for people with mobility issues. I have in fact stayed in such a place and have seen this was a real concern for some guests. I realise that a teenager can have mobility issues but not so often or so serious . I would be interested to hear from others as I am past this age as well . As a side issue I have just replied to a survey from my travel company. Have I got travel insurance? Yes was the answer but not through them as their cut off point is 70. Thankfully no bar, GC or gogo has refused my money in Pattaya! Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

Yes I do but my wording was precise. As far as I am aware the rioters never got into the security areas. I was aware that someone would bring this up but rioting on the street is not the same as transfer issues which is what the OP asked about. Sent from my CPH1941 using Tapatalk

As far as I can tell airports appear to be almost like an embassy in that they have a life of their own. The perimeter and security is very tight and while a country can be in turmoil, the airports just keep on going. I stand corrected but I have seen zero travel advisories or warnings concerning any airports in Asia. Maybe I have been lucky but I have never seen political unrest in a country move into either the Arrival or Departure halls. My advice. Get on the plane and put it out of your mind.
