Well for me I was hoping to stay 28 days so on the basis of what you get I believe 25k/26k would be good value. In low season last year I was happy enough with the better rooms at the Sabai Inn next door for about 835 per day. This was without balcony and breakfast but with use of the big pool across the road. I am really happy with Soi 2 and the bars at the top end and the excellent baht bus service, laundries and the proximity of Big C so I want to go back there.

French kiss with the rising sun? -
Hi there Cicero. I think that I will still keep an eye on this place and look for better off season rates. What with the location, pool, breakfast for 2 and a balcony room I would like to use this place. Like others in the Soi I am hopeful that they will lower the rates for off season or at the least have an special internet one.

Two things. 1. "McShite with lies" Love it! 2. Sorry Pete but the PBG is the place to go.

Anyone else noticed a drop in food quality at PBG lately?

Please let Pete know Frosty. This place is always a must on my Pattaya trips. Its where I lay in the beer soaking material each night. Its also where I advise all newbies to go for the same reasons. I have no personal complaints but I am sure Pete will sort it out if he is advised. -
The smoke (in clubs, pubs and go go's) in Pattaya is bad enough. Bugger a Chinese version. They smoke cow dung wrapped in used bog roll dont they?

Thanks Guys. I take it from the responses that no one sees Pattaya as a clothes buying destination. Points taken.

One good thing about Mr T is that you can actually call in at his place of work on Soi Diane almost opposite the Areca. This is a good way to ensure that there is no mess up with you outbound travel

I have changed my way of travel recently and bring as little as possible. I used to need 20 KG but now manage on 8 or 9 however this does leave me a bit short on shirts, socks etc at times. Where do the locals shop in Pattaya? I have seen mention of a factory outlet. Does it exist and is it any good? Where do the locals shop for quality (or alternatively) cheap clothing? Seems to me that mens clothing in Cambodia was better value for money at the lower end but bugger going there for a tee shirt. I usually get some odds and ends at the Soi Buakow market but would rather have quality clothing as long as its at the right price.

Yes I agree with the other poster. Get a new place. They are taking you for granted.

Thanks for the update. I was considering this for the off season on a monthly basis. I then saw the following note on the web site. In case of monthly lease agreement, the security deposit will be placed for two months of your rental rate and one month deposit. Does this mean that you can only book on a monthly basis following the above procedure?

Advance Payment to Hotel
teelack replied to Cookie Monster's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Thanks for the thread. There are things happening here I would have never expected. This might just save me some embarrassment one day. There is a scenario that I have thought about but I am not sure now. This is that I would buy my airline tickets at home using the credit card with the normal 40 days or whatever free credit. For the trip I would only take a pre charged debit card and cash. This would be a disaster if I had to do what Martin went through. -

I am not in this to compete so its no issue.

Hi there Cicero. I understand your comment. Last year I put these up as well and was interested at the responses that came up about Asian hotels that members had stayed at. As I travel all over the area I believed that there was a value to getting the thread started.

IMHO its a waste of time tipping at the END of a trip. Do it at the start to ensure better service while you are there.

If you had to explain your lack of enthusiam for falang women..
teelack replied to flighty's topic in Idle Chit Chat
I have no issues with falang woman and never had. The problem is all mine. When I was younger I was never good enough looking to snare the princesses and as I got older had to settle for older women. I hit a patch in my early 60's where I was at my best as there were (and are) so many women up to 50 looking for a man. Now then when I come to Thailand all bets are off and I can have what sort of woman I want. Sure there is a cost but it is less that I would spend on wining and dining the average ancient fatty that has sometime landed on my steps. -
If I was a fast enough typist or a good enough speller I would have liked to have written most of what Pete has very well expressed. One point however that I would like to emphasise is as follows. The old idea of a TIP (To Insure Promptitude) seems t have long since gone. It is used in so many places as an excuse for NOT paying a liveable or basic wage. This is a dreadfull situation in 2011 and all that pay tips simple extend this slave like situation. Whats the difference from a slave in the fiels receiving nothing for their work and having to rely on "The Masters" handouts in order to be able to live. Grow up world. Less tips means less exploitation. Imagine if all tipping was banned by law, suddenly people would have to be paid a living wage. The cost would end up with the consumer but its not being grovelled for.

Bugger! Not even a shrimp on the barbie! Just joking. Have a great one.

Thanks I had a look at the Vogue. Low seasons prices start at 1400 baht so I will be avoiding but it will be interesting to see what Agoda and Sawadee get rooms out for.

My God this board is getting more confrontational all the time. I only wish I knew what most of you were on about. There is so much I miss about the Pattaya scene.
