If you are in Pattaya I suggest that you head for the Canterbury Tales Cafe. This has a great library and I would think that all the books mentioned here would be available. As they have a buy, read and return service for most books this will give you a chance to read and return for another book at a reduced price.

Almost everywhere I have stayed I get a couple of bottles of water a day provided. These are unsuitable for taking out of the accommodation (usually heavy glass) so I always keep opened bottles available for teeth cleaning and pill taking, denture soaking and other odds and ends. They are replaced daily so its free and if you have any worries at all use this system.

Not a real reply but heres my suggestion. A few weeks before you travel start visiting every web site that you can on the areas that you propose to visit. Copy and paste all that you can that interests you and before you travel print this off. I have been doing this for years because when I visit the area I tend to travel about a bit and I have limited time. I just dont have the time to waste looking for the sights, bars, clubs, restaurants etc when I get there. I also add basic language words to this list as well as costs for airports, visa etc as well as land and air transport schedules. If you want to add to this have one page with a photo copy of all your credit, medical and bank detail cards and drivers license. This 'book' is now 100% personalised to you and is as up to date as you can get.

One really sexy thing that I noted at LK was a few falang women dressed in the national costume. Dont know why but they loooked as sexy as hell. One other suggestion. Unless your TG speaks good English or you speak good Thai, go as a group of say 4 or 6 so that there are no gaping holes in the conversations.

Couple of years ago we started at soi 8 and made our way down the beach into the City. We launched our blessings, or should I say we had little boys rushing into the sea getting them away from the shore line. Then onto the PBG which was needless to say heaving. I really dont think that any Thai girl will have a problem with the PBG, and the food for Thais seems passable. This was a really great night and make sure to take your camera. Even the 'less good looking' girls seem to scrub up well when dressed in national costume. This really was to me a festival with no down side.

Nice one even for us that run a mile at the thought of a keep fit centre!

Music at the Pattaya Beer Garden
teelack replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I believe that the current music is great but possibly not for the reason that you might think. The reality is that my life seems to be centred on classical music. Its been my joy and passion all my life and absoloutly expect to be buried to Mozart. When I come to Patts its the great escape and I actually come to the PBG to see the music videos and just love them. In my 'other' life I would never get within miles of Joe Cocker or Kiss but get me to Patts and its the perfect music for the town, the bar and the occasion. Perhaps this is why I never bother with the girls. I am so engrossed in the music! -
The one good thing about Mr T is that he is very accesible. Unless there has been a recent change his office is next to the Soi Diane/LK intersection. Last time there I just dropped in with the details and no bother. If your staying in the area the advantage of being able to get there quick in an emergency (no pick up etc) is great.

Pirate Treasure Hunt - FREE RUM
teelack replied to 2 slices short's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I am not in LOS at present and therefore no chance of me on board. I do however commend the OP for getting these things going and offering a really differnt experience for us punters. There really is little need for anyone to slag off the poster because at least he is offering quite openly something new. I commend him for his enterprise and effort. -
Cummon guys lighten up here. The bottom line here is this. If you have some time to spare you can pop into Bangers for 15 baht and you might not even have to pay 15 baht to return. You get to see a fair dollop of Bangers as it seems that it is mainly overhead. The train drops you in the City and is just adjascent to the Airport so there is bugger all walking there as well. And, as I have already said you can dump your cases at Swampy for 100 baht per bag per day. This IMHO is the bargain of the year.

wheres the best place to for something to eat
teelack replied to codhead's topic in Restaurants and food
No its North for sure--I think! The point about this place is that it has no frontage and is really ony there for those that take the trouble. I was pleased to be taken there by Thais because they could have hit me with big baht but this is their version of comfort food (please note the Knob that said KFC). -

For Euro food the PBG-I agree. For Thai food and this is according to the Thai that I know, the Hole in the Wall in Soi Buakhow. -
Hi there Joekicker. As I read the original story it said the foillowing. Passengers returning the same day will not need to purchase another ticket. I also thought that you could get easily from Makkasan to Petchaburi and I have used that station before and it has easy access to both types of rail. I do however bow to your local knowledge.

Brilliant. Dump your case for 100 baht at the airport and then a 100 baht for a return day trip to Bangers. What a bargain on your final day in town.

Pleased to see this place. It is now getting near the time when LK Metro and 100 metres around is becomming a destination in itself and this is great for the area. As a side issue I noticed on a recent trip a massive amount of accommodation being built in the Soi Lenkee area and could not but help think that rthis would be a good area for future accommodation.

teelack replied to Bad Falang Boyfriend's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Was there 3 weeks ago and there seems a lot of work still to go at Tims. -
Thanks for the review however at say twice the price of the LK Metropole I also think its over priced.
