I have stayed in the Bangkok hotel and it was good but it changed to an outfit that really wanted the tour industry and priced itself off the market for the average tourist.

Thanks for that all. I have a request in for a quotefrom a local travel agent of "Stay 10 nights and pay for 5......." Thats going to be interesting as its quoted as a 3 star hotel and I just wonder how high they can try to tell me that the standard rate is! As a matter of interest I note that the single and double rate is the same so I guess that if you book a double that they can hardly hit you for a joiner fee?

Just found out that I have accommodation here by default. I realise that it is a bit out of the way but wondered if the hotel or area had anything that was worth knowing about?

Why not consider the Soi 7 and 8 areas? I was enthralled by you trip report last year and as I will be there in June it would be fun to run into you and your team mates. If this area is of interest the two groups with places are the Flipper Group (2) and the Eastiny Group with three places.

Look at the Classic Place. Not bad and cheap. has a good pool and free breakfast. If you have stayed in the past and didnt like it remember that the new underground link runs just a 100 metres away and this will take you in 15 minutes to Patpong or out to Chatuchak. I am sure that there are better but this place suits me and has in room safe.

Reading another thread here I have to say that this place sound just what I am looking for. Any comments re joiner fees etc and attitude towards us mongers?

You all need to cool down on this one. The issue is that there are 3 Eastiny's within a 100 yards. One at the upper end of Soi 8, one at the Beack Road end on the opposite side of Soi 8 and one at the upper end of Soi 7. This causes confusion all the time and I have stayed in one of them but can never recall which one by name!

Hi there Stevo. Here is an update. I think that I need to get some bookings into the system or I will miss out. What I have done is to book the whole trip via a travel agent and will cancel if the medical reports are not up to scratch. I have untill the 15th of March. In essence I fly out late May to BK and have two nights there andt then fly Thai to PP and have 6 nights there.I will go direct to Pattaya afer I get back in early June. I often read about dental procedures here but wonder if anyone has had dentures made? I have a partial plate that is ready to scrap and wonder if anyone has had a dental plate made in Patts, the time it took, price and satisfaction rating.
