  1. Duncmc. Dont get pissed off at the replies. I had a look at Sawadee and Agoda and the answers a piece of string.
  2. Some excellent off season rates from Agoda. This is one to keep an eye on.
  3. Last time in Patts I seemed to notice a lot of construction going on in Lengkee. They seemed to be mainly accommodation and I was wondering how these places were coming along. From my perspective this has to be one of the best locations in Patts. Near the action but without the noise and if I can get good modern accommodation so much the better.
  4. Thanks for the reminder Pete. By this I mean that when we get off the plane we leave behind our pre conceptions about how things should or would be done at home. We are guests in their land and with their unique rules and laws and we kick against them at our peril.
  5. As long as the plane takes off I am fine. I have had to stay in other places due to delays etc but as long as its not in my home country then its all part of the holiday.
  6. Suggest that you check into Sawadee or any other travel site. Simply look at the dates shown against some of the hotels and this will let you know what the seasons are as well as the odd close out dates.
  7. Getting back to the question. I would be interested in being able to deposit cash into a Thai account rather than leaving it in a hotel safe. Any comments on the easy way to open an accout and anything worth knowing please?
  8. My very first bar in Pattaya and where I was treated really well as a newbie was Gilligan Island. They advertised on the internet that if you walked up to the barman and asked for Elvis the first beer was on them. I did and it was!
  9. I would not know a good tequila from turps. You have however got my interest and as I rarely bring spirits with me I might give it a go. The only way that I have drank it is the lick sip etc with the salt and lemon. How is good tequila drank? With ice, chilled or whatever? Better with a mixer? Thanks
  10. Thanks Barrie. I rarely watch videos on here but these were well shot and edited and much appreciated.
  11. I am sure that someone out there will give us a lead to Dontcha's last Pattaya trip. I believe that he stayed here and wrote a glowing report of the place.
  12. Thanks for the update. I have to say that I have neither heard of or seen this place and I stayed three weeks in Soi 2 last trip.
  13. Thanks for taking the time. I always enjoy keeping up with whats going on in Pattaya.
  14. Thanks for the input Steve. I was wondering why such a well positioned place with a great pool was so little talked about. Perhaps I now know! Regards.
  15. I have to believe that is place is so very well positioned and seems to have the lot. The rates appear to start from 700 Baht low season. Any commemts from boardies please?
  16. Hi there Greg. Can I suggest the following. I have to admit this is not the first time that I have made the suggestion but no one so far has taken it up. I would love to see a Soi LK guest house sort out a deal/ contract/ understanding whatever with a hotel in the area for use of the pool. Perhaps a charge back basis. As I see it I believe that the Areca charges 200 baht. When I add this to a room amount and take into account that the rate at Areca included breakfast then I may as well have stayed in hotel in the first place. The point is that I want access to a pool in the area when I want to use a pool. I want a rate that is reasonable and preferably a chargeback. Any thoughts?
  17. I was of the belief that the cheapest phone was fine for Pattaya trips till I saw some good photos and have since done some homework. I am seriously thinking of leaving my cameras at home and getting a 6 to 8 mp camera phone. The quality of these photos is as good as I need for travelling.
  18. Only comment I would make is that while I love the convenient location I dont like the swimming pools at either place. If this is part of your needs then Soi 8 is not for you. The pools are at best adequate. Also until all the construction has gone next to the Sunshine I will not be venturing there again.
  19. We all see these things so differently. As I was reading the story it immediatly came to mind that she had set this one up and simply dropped to goodies out the window/balcony to an accomplice while you were in the shower. As to the assertion that safes are hard to break into well there is a a well worn video here somewhere of people getting into these safes in 10 seconds by hitting them in the sweet spot.
  20. One great thing about this forum is the depth of experience. Whilst I like "Mexican" food I am totally unsure what its really supposed to taste like as I have never been in the area. I therefore like hearing what you guys have to say about this type of food. I assume that you have a real familiarity with the cuisine and if the consensus is that its good I will visit if you tell me its crap then I wont. Like others here I visited the Cantina on Soi 7 just once and knowlege or none I never went back.
  21. Thanks for all the responses. Its rare to find 100% acceptance of a guesthouse but thats the case here.
  22. Ho Hum. It sounds just like the Dream Teen massage story all over. Some thought it great and others a rip off. In the end however it often up to the quality of the lady that you luck onto.
  23. I think that the down light on a 45 degree angle in the bathroom would be illegal anywhere in the world and wherever it is its very very unsafe.
  24. Pete. A really great and I believe sincere response. IMHO the PBG has been the one most important addition to Pattaya in the last couple of years. I have to admit that I do not much fancy the free lancers but I like them being there. I have never had a bad meal or have I had poor service. I have however been in the catering business and know that apathy happens and it it great that Pete is aware and tries to be pro active. As I say, the PBG has added a place where an hour a night at least is well invested when I am in Patts and its wonderful value for money. Finally, well done to those that put complaints in. I believe your problems to be real and in your integrity also and its only by doing this that standards will be up held.
  25. Thanks for that. The published rate is well over 1000 however I see that there is a good rate for a monthly stay. At 1400 per night off peak for the Soi 2, I will still be staying at the Sabai Inn if they have it for 830 again next year. I note that the hotel write up says nothing about a safe.
