  1. Looks to be in a reasonable position and the prices, which also sound OK can be found by pressing Reservations and putting a date in. If I have one criticism of the place it is that you have a reasonable walk to get a baht bus heading into the Walking Street area assuming that you have to walk to Second Road and then down to Beach Road.
  2. Hi there. I was recently in Pattaya and stayed at the Sabai Inn in a superior room for 999 baht. It has in MHO the three P's mentiond in the title. Having said that I am not stuck in concrete here and I am interested in anyone else's best 1000 baht +/- off season hotel. I did have a look at the Pattaya Bay Resort and Chaba Hut but neither of these were any better than what I had. I post this on the basis that everything seems to be a bit dynamic out there and perhaps there are some bargains to be had.
  3. Thanks for that response. I hope that some other places see this as its a bit of shame when good food gets cold, and its s common occurence in Pattaya.
  4. Cummon guys get some balance into this. In the last couple of years what has opened in town? There is the new place at the Beach Road end of Soi 8 that seems to attract a lot of punters. The growth of New Plaza. The smallish new complex on Soi Buakow and the complexes that have opened on Walking Street. I was also suprised at the bars that do good business on Beach Road betwenn say Soi 3 and Central Road including the mad bastards next door to each other adverting draught for 28 baht and 30 baht. Please put your hands up if you dont think that there are enough beer bars in Pattaya!
  5. Hi there. Was in 2 weeks ago. Got there late and the chilli was (I thought) cold. Bugger me hinny but it had some substance and I got warm quite quickly. All this is to say that it was a very good chilli so thanks.
  6. I just want to thank you guys for the two trips that went on to BC. Its a great day out and I was pleased that you ran it for a small team but we all seemed to get on well and there were zero complaints. This really is a highlight of any Pattaya trip for me. Keep them coming.
  7. The place is fine except that it is at least 400/500 per night too expensive.
  8. Thought that couild be of interest. The Sabai Lodge is offereing off season room again for 800 baht. Its ok but there is a lot of work going on in this area including big changes at the Sabai. Book with care as its also being taking over by very noisy mobs of Indians that can only speak at full speed and volume.
  9. Lovedog is spot on when he says that we are prepared to pay for the fantasy but so few barowners seem to understand that simple and money making concept.
  10. Bugger! Missed by one day. Oh well there will always be another hopefully.
  11. Interesting point in that I do PM people who submit trip reports and ask them where they stayed if the places sound interesting. I did this twice in the last month and was pleased with the responses from the guys. Back to Martins point about making reviews. My comment to this is that the whole area needs a tidy up and a clean out of say all reviews over 12 months old.
  12. Rick, your right in that Agoda and Tripadvisor have good reviews however the point is that this is a resource of this board and I just don't use it for the reasons that I and others have outlined.
  13. I am not sure where this topic should be but I will start it here. I am always interested in what members think of their Pattaya accommodation. It does seem to me however that the "Accommodation" section is not worth reading as its so old and out of date. A suggestion would be to clean it out (seems to be the time for change) and start again. The format is I believe outdated and also needs a fresh look. Is the any support for this? Would you support it? I also think that there is even a case to be made for say a quick response format as well as a fulsome response. Just boxes to tick and questions on cleanliness, attitude, joiner fees, facilities, problems, compliments etc. Bottom line for me is that this is a resource that I don't use on this board which is a bit of a shame as it is such an important part of any trip. We also know that accommodation can change quite quickly if there are new owners/management.
  14. Thanks for the update. It just keeps getting better.
  15. Bugger. Missed out but I will catch you another time.
  16. Until the extras and enhancements are made I dont know how you would honestly judge thi one.
  17. Thanks to the OP for this info. My only comment is that there are so many storys about if you read the travel review sites. It seems to happen in fits and starts and there have also been some good threads here about problems in Pattaya. This has never happened to me yet as far as I know but I was US$100.00 missing one trip and searched everywhere for it. I am reasonably precise about these things and could only ever figure that it was someone taking just enough not to cause an investigation
  18. Why not try the Sabai and have a choice of 4. One of them must meet your needs?
  19. ALL guys have fun in Pattaya!
  20. Thanks Paul. I will make myself known.
  21. Hi there all. Biggles, I am the same as you and have 6 months (westpac). The interesting thing is that as far as I can see in my reading I am certainly no better or worse off had I have spent a lot of money getting a normal policy. I am however like the rest of the world sceptical of the insurance industry hence my question.
  22. Thanks Mr Duck. Just another question. What is your planned or proposed dates for the Dark Side and BC crawls for May/June? I assume that this is a bit variable depending on demand and bookings?
  23. I have not had a claim for some years now but always take out travel insurance. In order to minimise cost I put most of the travel on the credit card and use their free insurance. I am aware that the companys that underwrite these policies are reputable and have no issues. I was wondering if any other members have used this form of complimentary travel insurance and whether there have been any issues. It is definately worth some hundreds of dollars a year for me to do this.
