  1. I pay 800 plus tolls from Pattaya to airport. I use a taxi stand on 2nd Rd about 8 shops away from Sky-Top going toward Soi 6. I never had a problem with the taxi not showing.
  2. www.travelocity.com has $695.+ tax on UA out of Philly & Newark Thru March. Good price.
  3. Bus service from BKK to Pattaya works well. Only 90 baht and they leave every 30 minutes. Take the Sky-Train to Eckamai Station and the bus terminal is right there. You can see it from the platform.
  4. jackcorgbett, I'm sitting in cold Philly thinking about the day in two years when I move to LOS. I like Pattaya for a vacation but I don't know if I want to live there. To many whores, con men and thieves for my taste. I'm thinking of Chang Mai, Udorn Thani or some other place up north that has good health care, reasonable expat community and some night life.
  5. There is a MAJOR water shortage in Pattaya and the Thia's have barely begun to address the problem. If it was me I would live in Pattaya for one year before I would buy a condo.
  6. I've eaten at Uncle Charlie's a few times. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the nights to go. Tony passed away about 15 months ago. Good guy, I miss him.
  7. I like the idea of a 17 hour flight time verus 28 hours including lay over with UA.
  8. I brought my wife and daughter to Jomtiem a few times. I always stay at the Pattaya Park Hotel. Right on the beach away from the nite life. As far as my wife is concerned there is no naughty bits.
  9. Check www.travelocity.com for latest prices to BKK from various cities in the US.I was quoted a price of $759. return PHL-BKK January-February. This includes all taxes.
  10. Easy way to earn 10K frequent flyer miles on Delta Air. http://www.delta.com/travel/sp_offers/dash...egate/index.jsp
  11. Anyone know if they will fly east or west from JFK?
  12. I normally don't refer to a post a member may make in a different section but in your case I'll gladly make an exception. What goes around comes around. The way you beat BG out of money when you take them for a night, reference your trip report. Makes my heart feel good that YOU almost lost money by this hotel.
  13. There is a severe water shortage in the Pattaya/Jomtiem area and the Thai's have barely begun addressing the problem. With all the building going on, I don't know where they will come up with the potable water for all the condo's. From what I understand many Thai areas are without water many hours of the day during dry season. This problem will take years to resolve.
  14. I'm looking to rent a condo from a fellow board member when he's not in town. I come to Pattaya 3 to 5 times a year and I stay for 21 days. Since I'm retired I can work my trips around your schedule. I'm a good guy to rent to because I'll take care of your place.
  15. I've eaten breakfast there. Good value for the money. Excellent location on 2nd Road. Near Walking Street.
  16. You should have tried Sky-Top for your nocturnal activities.
  17. My wife flew business class with them and thought the service was good.
  18. Prices on UA out of Philly drop after 15 January. Cost of fuel is insane. I have my doubts that price will drop to what I paid last January. I paid around $740.
  19. I would think when you use Thai instead of KA the price would jump up. I like the service on Thai.
  20. I like the Pig & Whistle, Soi 7 600 per night. Great location, AC, fridge TV lousy cable reception. In room safe and good restaurant down stairs. www.pattaya-pub-hotel.com Flipper Lodge, Soi 8 700 per night. Great location. I like the in room massage. I pay 300 for the massage and 500 for full service. www.flippergroup.com

  22. During the Spanish flu of 1918 anywhere from 30 to 40 million people died during a short time. Current bird flu has jumped species to man. If this mutates we could have major problems worldwide.
  23. robio, No it's not OK, Guys on here tend to post lies about the places they recommend. This way we can piss off a few thousand guys who come to Pattaya on a regular basis. It's a given that the rooms in a CHEAP hotel will be SMALL.
  24. ROLAND, You should at least be willing to give Alex a try before you slag him.
  25. Good hotel for 450 and up. My favorite www.skytoppattaya.com Good location on 2nd Road near soi 6 and 10 minute walk to Soi 8. AC,TV, fridge, in room safe . Guest friendly. Yensabicondo www.pattayarentaroom.com Big room for the money. AC, TV, fridge in room safe. About 500 or so 15 minute walk to FLB. One thing I didn't like was the walk in the sun up to 2nd Rd.. Ya, I'm a candy ass.
