  1. Island off the coast of Indonesia where guys go to party with good looking women. Short ferry ride. I spelled it wrong, it's Bintan. Do a search on here Hilly went about a year or so ago.
  2. Why not try for a leave of absence? Be up front with your boss and see how it goes. I hope this works out and your able to make the move. S'pore is a fun safe town and close to Bintin. Cheap pussy a lot closer then LOS. I'm looking forward to the day and it's not that far in the future when we make the move to LOS.
  3. BTW you can drink the tap water in S'pore.
  4. I've been to S'pore a few times. IMHO very livable city with a lot of good looking women. I enjoyed the nite life and P4P scene. English is widely spoken.
  5. I would recommend the car service available in the arrival hall. Cost about 2K. Good drivers and newish cars. I've used them a few times and I'm more then pleased with their service. I go straight to Pattaya. Email your hotel on the day you leave and let them know your coming in late.
  6. Traditionally prices have dropped after January 15. Beats the hell out of me with the gas prices so high what will happen. Low season: September 15- December 1 or so January 15- May 30
  7. Will the extension go to the new airport?
  8. Change your home of record to a state that doesn't tax your retirement income. I started having all my body systems checked out here in the US. I'm going to scheduled a colon check next month. Renew your drivers license in your new state and passport. Get new ATM cards and know how to get them replaced. Same with credit cards. Update your will in the US and leave it in the US. I'm looking forward to the move.
  9. Check out United frequent flyer program. I fly over 50K paid miles per year and I'm a premier executive with them. I pay for two and the third one is free. I get full mileage in the cheapest seat (natch). SQ you will get no mileage with the cheap seats.
  10. OnMyWay, I can just imagine the heat that must come off that engine.
  11. Long layover is no problem. Airline reservations can sort that out for you.
  12. Shortest trip I've done is 7 nights and I fly out of Philly. I usually stay two to three weeks. It takes me two days to get over jet lag. Length of time is a tough question to answer. My wife and I flew Philly to Sydney, Australia for a long weekend.
  13. Guy changes his mind about coming to LOS and can he be bothered to notify the car service or hotel? You'd be surprised at the number of no shows. Maybe you won't be if you tried to book a hotel and they demand one night payment in advance. Don't be more of an asshole then you already are. Change in travel plans please cancel.
  14. The airport car service seems to have drivers who know their way around Pattaya. Last two trips the guys drove straight to Sky-Top with no problems or directions from me. I just tell the dispatcher at the airport I want to go to the Tourist Police on 2nd Road and he tells the drivers where to go. The problem I ran into with Alex he's a small car service company. He sub- contracts out his work to guys who may or may not show up. Airport car service has the advantage of being at the airport with plenty of cars and drivers available.
  15. What are the room rates and how much to rent the bike. Do you offer discounts for long stay and what about low season discounts? Guest friendly? How big is the bed? How do we get in contact with you?
  16. I concur with postman. The police have already told you what they are not going to do. I would move. Better to be alive and in a different location then spend the rest of your life in a Thai lock up. Good luck.
  17. The power of networking can truly be awesome. Teaching conversational English may not be the end job one is looking for but it gets you in country with a legal job permit and gives you the opportunity to learn the language. If one works it right by gaining access to a Thai company teaching English you get to know the powers that have the authority to hire you for other positions within the company. For guys who are thinking about it. STOP THINKING and make the move. Twenty years from now you'll be sorry you didn't.
  18. I agree 100% with Gabor. For the guys who don't know where all the money goes buy a pocket notebook and write down everything you purchase. You'd be surprised at the crap we all buy.
  19. Check out www.majesticsuites.com I've stayed there many times and it's my first choice in the inexpensive range of hotels. Westin is my first choice in the high end. I got out of the airport around 4:30 and traffic moved way better then I expected. Thai has a good price for October JFK-BKK around $1080 return tax included.
  20. I flew this route once and I liked the service Thai provided good food, drinks whenever I wanted them and I fit in all the airline seats with no problem. I liked the non stop cuts a lot of time off the flight. I would fly them again. Excellent in seat entertainment system.
  21. You could buy a new one and negotiate a trade with a BG for services rendered. I can imagine her Thai boyfriend would like to lay around all day watching the new tube.
  22. Where else can a guy live on this amount with the added benefit of a beautiful Thai women as a liv in? If you know of any other countries with the same level of infrastructure as LOS and similar cost of living , I want to know where it is.
  23. For one month I lived on 30K. I had a liv in girl friend, stayed at Sky-Top and went out a couple of nights a week drinking. I had a good time but it was tight. If I cut out the drinking and cigarettes, I could get it down to 20K. Thank God I don't have live on that amount but it can be done.
  24. You could teach English as a 2nd language here in LOS. Check out www.ajarn.com This would get you in LOS with a legal job, work permit and a salary coming in until you learn the language and can move on to a better position.
  25. It's easy for a "superior" plane maker to sell airplanes at cost or below when they have the EU taxpayer supporting the company. If they had to sell at a profit they may not be able to sell as many planes. It's true that many problems will surface during the development phase. Airbus had the 380 flying with wings that don't meet specifications. That's a MAJOR FUCK UP and embarrassment to the engineers and the taxpayer whose paying for it all.
